  1. I have 8 x GV2008s running my main system. I ahev just upgraded these to 8.3. I also have 4 unopened Control Center 8.2 with dongle. I assume that the 2 are incompatible. Do Geovision offer a swap or part-ex scheme for the dongles or have i wasted £500 on teh 8.2 dongles and now have to spend another £500 on 8.3 dongles? If anyone has any idea that would be great. Thanks
  2. Hi guys, i'm having a bit of a problem getting a DVR that will actually do what i want. So many sellers out there do not know what they are actually selling and are getting it oh so wrong. I need an 8 or 16 Channel Standalone DVR. It needs to be able to record realtime (25FPS) at 4CIF or D1. It also needs to have the same amount of audio inputs ( 8 or 16 depending on video inputs). That is all i need, is that too much to ask. I keep coming back to this unit, but it seems way to cheap, and although they assure me that it records at D1 25FPS, the manual just doesn't say that it does. [mod edit-no store links, item is titled RGN Secumaster D1 DVR - 16 channel - 480 fps] Any help is appreciated guys, this one is quite urgent. Thanks

    Show Audio - GV2008

When i had my GV 1480 installed, i could see audio activity in the top left window of each camera. Now i have my GV 2008s installed, i cannot find the option to show the audio activity. Is it not there in the GV 2008 system or am i just being blind? TIA
  4. Hi Guys, I'm having good luck with my 64 channel video audio system using GV-2008 cards but now i have another system to build. It really shouldnt be that hard but finding the equipment isn't proving very fruitful. I need to be able to record upto 200 microphones positioned around a facility. Mic and pre amp is not a problem as we build our own but getting all those Mics into a pc isn't looking easy. Yes, i could network several Geovision systems and just record the audio and then use CMS to listen to all 200 but i would rather just get an audio system rather than video/audio and then not use the video side. Any suggestions at all would be great.
  5. Excellent, excellent, thanks. That was just what i was looking for. A good start anyway. I did manage to find a 190 channel system, consisting of 4 servers but they wanted £65000 for it. I nearly ended up paying it too. Ill just build my own now. Thanks. Now just to get the software sorted but that should not be a problem now that i have found a card.

New GV2008 System- pls check my planned specs

Looks ok to me. Personally at the moment i am running a real low end PC for 2 x GV 2008 cards (will post the specs later). I was running a 1480 in it. The live viewing from the PC is no better (on board graphics) but the recording quality is a hell of a lot better, so this basic PC is running it fine and it is a lower spec than yours. How long do you intend to record for? I will go double check my recordings but realisically with the GV 2008 you are looking at 1GB per Camera per hour so that 1 TB won't last that long. Next week i will be installing 8 GV 2008 cards into my new 4 servers. The specs are Case 4 U 20 x SATA II Bays Pwr Single 950 Watt Motherboard Asus 1333 F.S.B Cpu INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q8200 1333 F.S.B Memory 8GB DDR II 800 (Corsair) Video Onboard Intel Video Raid Hardware Raid -3ware 9650 SE - 16 Port Lan Onboard Gigabit Lan 10/100/1000 Expansion Slots 3 x 32 Bit Pci + Pci-Express x 16/8/1 Sound Onboard Sound Hard Drives 16 x 1TB + 1 x 250GB O/S Drive Ports 4 x USB, Firewire, Audio, Vga DVD DVDRW I wont be live viewing from the servers so the on board GFX shouldnt be an issue, but i will post up my results from this spec in a couple of weeks.

Any thoughts on this PC setup?

Hi guys. Quick poll before i go ahead and buy these PCs instead of building them. Just don't have the time now. They will be hosting a GV 1480 and GV Net Card. Lilin 7622 180 degree flip

Hi guys. I have just bought 20 odd Lilin 7622 dome cameras for use on my Geovision system. Now i was under the impression that they were auto 180 flip. After hooking them up i now see the problem. If someone walks under the camera i would have to tilt all the way down and then do a 360 and then tilt all the way up just to follow them. Very awkward. After speaking to tech support, their PTZ keyboard has a 180 degree flip button, but im not using this. I'm using Geo 8.2. Does anybody have any ideas on this. I don't see any 180 degree flip function in Geo. ( or any suggestions for a £550 PTZ camera that will do it auto) Thanks

Any thoughts on this PC setup?

Seriously? I have been debating between 2 x 2008s or the 1480. Never seemed to get a definite answer. I have a 1480 here and with 1 or 2 cams its great but now i have just hooked up 16 and its not so good. So, go with 2 x 2008s then? Better take these 1480s back. Thanks.

    GV2008 (x2) or GV1480

So was there ever a conclusion to this guys? 2 x 2008 cards it is then? Heres hoping that 8Tbs will capture me 20-30 days of all 16 channels. If any thinks any different i;d love to hear it, before i plump for 8 of these cards.
  11. Ok, i have yet to try this as i only have 1 PTZ camera but i will soon have 30. I am just trying to work out what will happen before i go and buy them. My setup - 2 Servers running GV 1480 and GV Net each. 15 PTZ Cams on one and 15 on the other, connected to 1480 and GV Net. 5 Workstations, all running CMS. Questions- Can more than 1 workstation control any camera at the same time (i,e op 1 controlling cam 1 on server 1, op2 controlling cam 2 on server 1 (GV Net sending commands to 2 cams at the same time)) If a workstation is controlling a cam, what happens if another workstation goes to control the same cam (is there a heirarchial structure or is it first come first served) If anyone has had any experience with similar situations id love to hear about it. Thanks guys.

Controlling multiple cameras on GV Net Card

There is audio in control centre but not integrated into one system. In control centre i can see all 64 cameras up and running. Now how do i use PTZ and listen to the audio? I have to go to the camera indivdually running under the host and select Live View. I cannot do it as i do with VMD and just right click on the current image and Live View.

Controlling multiple cameras on GV Net Card

Yeah, i am using control center but unfortunately it will not allow you to listen to audio. Plus i just realised, VMD will only let you view upto 36. Bugger, a situation that could so easily be resolved had it been thought of during the software build.

Controlling multiple cameras on GV Net Card

Excellent. Thanks. Eventually decided on the Sunkwang S200 running Pelco protocol so hopefully 30 of them will be ok. I'm now getting nearer and nearer to the final installation time at the client premises with this large setup. Still not having much luck finding a good work around though for viewing all 64 cams at the same time and being able to control the ptz and listen to the audio. I have found a way which suits very well when there is motion. Using the VMD system i can view all 64 cams on one screen, control the PTZ of each one and listen to audio. Great. Only if there is motion on the screen though. Is there anyway to hack/set the VMD system to think that there is motion on every cam? Thanks again andy, your replies always help
  15. Hi Guys, I have just tried my new LPT-OI553HQ dome camera on my system but i just cant seem to get it working. I have previously had a LJD dome on my GV Net card on Pelco P and D so i know that works I have tried the LG in all manner of different protocols (pelco and the LG), all different Baud Rates and addresses. I have the RS 485 cables in correctly and the terminator on the far end. Has anyone used this camera and had any luck? Thanks
  16. Even if it is 3.5mm jack based, there are plenty of adapters out there. Perhaps your microphone might need an amp in between your mic and the capture card anyway. I am running knowles mics 200 meters with pre amps installed at the heads and then louroe amps at the dvr just before they go into the capture card. http://www.louroe.com/audiointerface.asp?model=if8
  17. I have finished designing my system for 64 vid/aud and it has been accepted by the guys with the money. It will be running 4 servers each with GV1480 and GV Net Card. Now, just running through the install in my head and i cam up with a question, which i am sure i can get past not a problem, but wanted your input. Always a wealth of information here. 4 Servers, each with GV Net Card. Ops using CMS to view all 64 cams. 26 of which are PTZ Domes. What would be the best way to hook them up. Do i split them into 4 groups and have them shared over the 4 servers, or can i hook up the cameras PTZ cable to multiple machines in case 1 goes down (ie, Camera 2 hooked upto sever 1 and 2 incase server 1 goes down 2 takes over). In fact now i have written it down it looks like a bigger issue than i first thought.

    GV 1480 Audio Issues

Hi guys. I am still having major issues with my GV 1480 Audio on 8.2 Now its nothing wrong with the geovision system. Its just getting out of the system what i want. Working at the actual Geovision machine, i can view all my 16 cams and listen to any audio at the same time (right click...set to wave out). It is not possible to do this remotely though. I have CMS running, one 1 screen i have a VMD Group made, showing a matrix of 64 cams. On another screen i have the Emap showing the 64 cams on the map and if i want to hear the audio i have to bring up a live view and set to audio out. Is there a simpler way of doing this? Also, if a camera is down, i cannot listen to the audio on that channel. It would be nice to hear the live audio even if the camera is down. I get the same thing with playback of recordings. Also, when i export a recording through the audio/video log, it always exports the video and audio together as a .avi. Is there anyway just to export the audio by itself? Thanks. (incidentally i bought a amp for my 200 meter run microphones - a Louroe 8 channel)

PTZ Camera setup with GV-Net Card

Thanks for the reply. There are 26 cameras so i will have to hook them up to two machines. Now there will be 5 computers all controlling these. Is it first come first served? Can 5 computers even use them all? i.e GV Net Card 1, address 1 is being used by comp 1. GV Net Card 1, address 6 is being used by comp 2. Still have tried this yet....will be able to next week.

    GV-1480 Audio Input Question

I have 64 microphones. All knowles mics with pre amps built in, running over 150meters. Now i have a small single channel amp which works a treat, but rather than have 64 of these all hooked up, i wanted a neater solution. I bought the Behringer ADA8000 which is giving me a line output from the mic. Run it through a powered set of speakers, it runs fine. My question is this. Are the audio inputs on the GV-1480, line input or just standard audio input, it is a question of, do i need an amp in between the ADA8000 and the GV-1480 or not. Strange one i know, thanks guys.

Geovision Record after audio detected ?

Hi. I am really a new user to Geovision and don;t have years of experience in it but i do have 2 months of just hardcore building/destroying/building my test Geovision system. I too have a great need for audio facilities within the GV system but it seem like it is more of an add on or afterthought. There are plenty of video functions but not many (including exporting, listening, recording). I do not think you will find the functionality that you seek at the moment. It is a very good function though and i would like to see this in future developments, as well as being able to export a video channel and choose any of the 16 audio channels to pair to it.

    XP install advice

Well, ahead of me ordering my 4 GV-1480s to build the big system i have bought a spare GV-1480 and the components for a cheap PC. This is just to get my hand in and get used to Geovision before i have to build the big system. The whole system will be running in XP SP2. Does anyone have an experience with stripping down XP specifically for Geovision kit? Are there any recommendations for services to stop, parts of the OS to leave it. This system is purely for running the GV-1480. Control Centre will be viewing the cameras from another workstation. Incidentally. These are the components i bought to build this low end demo system. If anyone sees any problems with it, tell me off.....thanks Gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2L i945GC Socket 775 onboard VGA 6 channel audio mATX Motherboard - Qty: 1 Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.2GHz Socket 775 800FSB 2MB L2 Cache OEM Processor - Qty: 1 Antler 500W PSU 80mm Fan - 20+4pin, 2x SATA, 1x PCI-E - Qty: 1 OCZ (OCZ26671024V) 1GB DDR2-667 PC2-5400 CL 5-5-5-15 VALUE SERIES MODULE (LIFETIME WARRANTY) - Qty: 2 Maxtor STM3160215AS 160GB SATAII 7200RPM 2MB Cache - OEM - Qty: 1
  23. Hi guys. I need a rather quick answer on this one. Does anyone have any preferences on which Dome cameras to use with Geovision systems. I have not had much luck finding out how many cameras 1 GV-NET card would support. I beleive the documentation states 16. I need fully compatible cameras, with the switching capability to let me assign upto 16 addresses for the cameras. I need full PTZ functions. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

    Best Dome/PTZ for Geovision System

Excellent. Thanks for the clarifcation on the GV-Net, should have fun hooking it all up. 26 cameras in total just for PTZ with 4 servers. That camera looked like it would do the business, as long as i can set the addresses upto 16. I will let you all know how this system goes when i finish it.
  25. Hi guys. I am looking at installing over 60 microphones and 60 cameras in an estate. There will be a 12v supply at each camera/microphone. There will be 2 cameras and 2 microphones in each room (a couple of meters apart). At first i was going to use coax for each device back to the distribution room. Then i thought of using Cat5, 2 devices on each cable, a balun for each. Then i looked at the prices for the baluns. Looking at a fiver each, so £600 - £1200 just for the baluns. So, its going to be cheaper to run RJ59. yes it may be more efficient to run the Cat 5 but money is money. Can anyone give my their views on this. I am still in 2 minds. Pros and cons just to help make up my mind. Thanks guys
