illogic

I'm past the 10 day wait and have 5 posts, but I still can't create a post with pictures.

I've been offered a Sanyo VCB-3424 camera, unknown "zoom lens", and power supply for $35. Price seems ok and I'll probably buy a new lens, but is this camera any good for low light recording? It will be mounted from the 2nd floor of a house overlooking the drive way and street. It gets pretty dark, very little lighting.. edit: mikesus listed the specs.

I think I explained it wrong. The IR works well at close range, but doesn't do any good at the distance I have it set up. Moving the camera closer would be an option but considering the low quality of this camera I don't think its worth it. At night everything is extremely grainy. Thanks

Hello, I've just started my research on cctv surveillance cameras and I've a lot to learn. At the moment I'm mostly looking to set up one or two cameras. One low light for sure and maybe one for daytime. My goal is to catch whoever keeps vandalizing my car. The current camera I have isn't so great. It's a Security Labs model SLC-142, purchased from radio shack a few years ago. I actually unplugged the infrared LEDs because they didn't help at all long range and caused a lot of glare. Needless to say I'll be buying a new camera soon and I've got my eyes on the GE KTC-540E thats been mentioned a few times here. Anyways, back to reading the forum

In the near future I'll be purchasing a cctv camera and I wanted to test some things out with this one I have laying around. The problem is its missing the power adapter. I don't know how old this camera is but its been in my dad's garage for the past few years. I haven't been able to find any info on this camera so I thought I'd try my luck here... Is it worth it to find or make a power supply for this camera? Is the 4-pin power connection common on Hitachi cameras? Is the lens a C or CS, and is it any good? Other general info: Price range, quality, color/BW? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks edit: I guess I have to wait 10 days and get 5 posts before I can post images of the camera...
