  1. The camera should support Pelco-P. The 100x dial for setting the camera address needs to be at 6 for 2400 baud, 0 for 4800 baud, and 7 for 9600 baud. So if you were using Pelco-P at 2400 baud and your camera was addressed as 1, the 100x dial would be 6, the 10x dial would be 0 and the 1x dial would be 1. Make sure your RS-485 wires are going to the proper R+ and R- connectors, not the S+ and S-. The S connectors are for SensorNet. Try restarting your camera after you set the address dials. During start up, when the detecting network message comes up, send a command to the camera (pan left, for example) until it detects the network type and starts responding to the command. It might take 30 seconds or so. Hope this helps.

    American Dynamics PTZ advice.

I've wired up a few Ultra 8's using RS485 but it's been with American Dynamics DVRs. I really don't know anything about Avtech equipment. Here's what I can share, hopefully it will get you pointed in the right direction. The camera's address is set with the small number wheels on top of the camera. I used 4800, 8, 1, None for my baud settings at the DVR. Your RS485 wires will connect to the R+ and R- on the camera's I/O board. Power up the camera. As it's finishing its start up routine, you should get a "Detecting Network" message on the screen. When that message comes up, send a direction command to the camera. It will take about 15-30 seconds but it should detect the network and you'll get an "EIA422" message on the screen. Keep sending a direction command to the camera until it starts responding. It's another 30 seconds or so, if I'm remembering correctly. You should be good to go. I've got two Ultra 8's on my home system but they're controlled using SensorNet and an American Dynamics TouchTracker, rather than RS485. Hope this helps.
  3. Not silly at all. There are two types of these domes. On the older ones, the whole camera assembly just pops out. All you have to do is flip it to the direction you want and press it back into place. It's held in place by pressure from the large plastic ring. On the newer version, the camera assembly doesn't come out. There are to small plastic tabs on each side of the camera. You simply use them to kind of grab on and rotate the assembly the way you want it. Hope this helps!
  4. Are you talking about one of these little guys? All you should have to do is take the bubble and liner off, and rotate the camera so it's right side up.
  5. Definetely. I've got two 750gb WD Caviar Black in mine and it works just fine. I've been looking into 2tb drives myself lately though. Glad you got it figured out.
  6. Yes, you can easily add another harddrive to your Intellex. It mounts in the caddy with the first one. Your second drive will simply be for video storage, there's no system partition on it. I'm using an Intellex LT with two drives for my system here at home.
  7. My apologies for bumping this topic back up. I caught this a few weeks ago out front of my house. I wonder what it was all about... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpT4_Pc2l-U
  8. You could try a hard reset. Unplug the multiplexer, press and hold the round button for Camera 16, then plug it back in. This will wipe all the programming, but should get it working correctly.

    SENSORMATIC SPEEDOME 2000

Make sure the jumpers on the Unicard are set correctly for whichever communications protocol (Sensornet or RS422) you're using.

    Hello!

Hello! my name is Brent, I'm 26 and I've been working with CCTV for about six years, in addition to loss prevention. I got my feet wet in CCTV when our store received a "new" (used from a closed store) system to replace our old one, and I was given the opportunity to install it. That sparked my interest in CCTV and I've been hooked (I guess you could say) ever since. I'm very familiar with Sensormatic/American Dynamics equipment since that's what we use. I'm glad to be a part of this forum. From what I've read so far everyone seems to be VERY knowledgable and friendly. It'll be nice to be able to discuss CCTV with others who are interested in it.
