Need to crank out 4 systems and thought about trying the new socket 1156 with a I3-530 processor and the onboard gpu in the cpu. Would like to know if that is good enough graphics or if a vid card should be added.

I think I may have found the issue. It's the H55 chipset and video files. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1235801 It sounds like it hits all H55 chipsets. I've tried everything and then some in that forum to make it go away. So far no luck. I will try the AV file save. I did play some of the files in media player direct from the HD and the problem persisted. All the info is there since the stutters can happen in different areas. I'm going to check that very closely to make sure I understand exactly what is going on. I bought some P55 boards last night and gforce 210 vid cards. I'm going to set one of those up and see what happens.

It's 8.3.3. Clean install, all new hardware with all three boards. I've tried my third setup and all are doing it. I tried changing the video recording resolution to 360X240 to see if that would help. It appears to help a bit......but it's still there. I've now found there are some issues with H55 boards and a video freeze. Just not sure which way to turn. If anyone is using a I5-530 processor succesfully in a motherboard, please post. At this point i'd jump to any working motherboard.

Tried a different hard drive. No luck. This is a drive i've used before. Sometimes the playback works fairly well with only a freeze every couple of minutes. Other times it gets really bad and freezes constantly. Also, the system kind of lags when you get a freeze. Meaning if I hit the "stop" button on the video playback, it doesn't register for a bit. I'm definately open to suggestions. Thanks in advance.

So far so good. The H55 chipset and onboard graphics apear to be working well. FYI

I got it fixed. Kind of noobish. I thought 720X480 Deinterlace was better than just plain 720 X 480. Turns out that has been the issue. Once I got rid of the deinterlace all is good!

I'm having a problem with recorded files looking terrible. For example, real time video looks great. A carpet mat on a white tile floor has a nice clean edge. When I view the same carpet mat with a recorded video, the mat has jaged edges. Almost like a stair case. I think I've got everything set to record at the highest settings (720X480 deinterlace) and i'm using h264 for compression. Suggestions? I have to be missing something. I have 2 complete systems and they both do the exact same thing.
-
I had that one set to 720 X 480. Good call though. I had to look to see what I had done. This is just really weird. I've got two systems and they both do the same thing. I've got 3 more that are being put together as we speak to send out to friends but I really want to find the answer. I'm using onboard graphics with one (H55 chipset and I5 530 intel) and the other one is a q6600 with a Nvidia gforce 210 vid card.

I'm running 8.3.2 and 8.3.3 I've tried the h264v2 same result. "did you set your recording quality higher and select the higher resolution for each camera in system configuration/cameras? How about trying Geo H264 V2 codec?" This has me confused? Is there a secondary area I need to set for recording quality. In the configurations section I have it on level 5 or highest quality. The playback looks much more pixelated and jagged than my old geo 1000.

You can allocate more fps or less with the software for each camera. I just let it decide what it wants to do. Also, I think the fps is divided out by the cameras that are actually recording and not the ones that are idle.

I do have another question. Kind of a hijack however. I want to install 8.3.3. I really don't want to reload windows or my other programs. But I want to make sure ALL settings are gone from the old geo. I will uninstall, find all the geo.ini files and delete manually. What about the registry? What's the best way to wipe this thing so there is not a single scrap of evidence to influence the new software load? Any other tips and tricks here?

I'm running windows7 32 bit with the q6600 and 4 gigs of ram and it runs fine. No big lags or other issues. I have an employee running the 64 bit version with only 2 gigs of ram on an E6600 and he's come to the conclusion he needs more ram. I have not tried it on anything with smaller horsepower and I don't think it would take a lot of convincing to stay with XP on the P4's etc. Xp still works just fine imo. If you want the latest bells and whistles or want direct X 10,11 gaming you pretty much have to migrate to windows 7. But for a security system, office stuff etc, I think XP still works great. Of course as time goes on, too many things will pass it by and it will force the issue. But that's the way it always goes. I have not imaged my drives yet......keep meaning to. One of these days. Probably right after a hard drive goes bad and I have to reload everything....yet again, lol

GV-1240C: "This software is incompatible with your location"

There is a 8.3.3? Missed that one. What is the name of the geo usa company? Can't remember. Thanks -
Yea it's my super gamer. I had twin Velociraptors in it and switched to the ssd's. If you ever want to see the absolute most noticeable gain in computer speed.....get ssd's. Never tried to install xp on that system. Had Vista on it so I could benchmark with vantage. Windows 7 installed much faster than Vista. Can't remember if I had a network cable plugged in or not during that install. I've run it up as high as 4.58 Ghz on water and scored just over 40k on vantage. Problem is the 1000W power supply isn't enough to max everything out for drag racing. I can clock vid cards way up or clock the cpu way up but doing both will shut it down. One of these days i'll put a supplemental psu in it and give it a go.....just can't let the wife see it, lol. You should build one Rory......it's fun

My "fast" install was an intel I7 and two 60gig Ocz vertex series ssd's in raid 0 with 6 gigs of ddr3 ram. Absolute clean install (new drives) with windows ultimate. Using a 74gig WD raptor (old style) install was less than 35 minutes using a q6600 and 4 gigs of ddr2. This is not including drivers or updates. Just pop the disk in and go. That might be our discrepencie. However that did include formatting. I don't know why windows 7 formats in a few seconds. I've done a half dozen window 7 installs. Honestly they ALWAYS go faster than XP. That's why I mentioned there might be an issue. I have talked to folks who said they have had it hang up during the install for a couple of hours and they started over. Not sure why. I'll look into it.

Get the 8.3.2 software and that should take care of the problem. Pulled my hair out with that one. -
This is not a flame at all. But why did it take 3 hours to install windows 7? I did it in either 13 or 19 minutes (can't remember which one anymore) on my system with my ssd's. Something was definately wrong if it took 3 hours. It does take a tad longer on a "regular" platter type hard disk but since I didn't time it I can't give an exact timeframe. It couldn't have been more than 30 minutes though. I'd look into that. Something doesn't sound right.

Reporting back with windows 7 since my last post a couple of months back. For the most part all is well. I have seen one bug but I think it is Geo's fault. Every once in a while when I click on my megapixel IP camera it restarts the geovision software. No idea why. Other than that, windows 7 has been wonderful and the best windows yet imo. I use it for internet gaming and store use. I have had zero issues with the 32 bit for my geo system and 64 bit for my gaming rig. I have not attempted to login from a remote site yet since I need a sonic wall port opened first so I cant comment on that. My earlier issues were 100% ram issues.

Windows 7 seems to be working fine. i'm still using the q6600 quad core. I think my issues were all memory related. It's been a couple of weeks and all is well. 8.3.2 software
-
I'm getting that as well. I'm using windows 7 and 8.3.2. This just started after my last install. Not sure why. Just another Geo thing to track down, lol. I think your last description is pretty good. Kind of like a stutter.....or images just freeze for about 1-3 seconds and then resume. If i've settled my hardware issues, then I will attack this one next.

After going 5 days with the 7800gt I switched back to the 210 vid card and 191.07 drivers for it. Let's see if it gets through the whole day without bluescreening. If definately looks better quality wise with the 210 over the 7800. BTW, i'm using a quad core (q6600) so I don't think that is the issue. Also, an I7 has 8 cores if hyperthreading is on. You could turn that off and it will go to four cores instead of four cores and four virtual cores.

I've been trolling every Geo forum searching for answers to issues i've had. One thing that keeps popping up is the Nvidia 210 vid cards and issues. Blue screens, Random reboots (probably a blue screen and it restarted) etc. Does anyone have this card with Version 8.3.X software and everything works? If so, what drivers are you using. I don't think these cards work with the Geovision stuff. Also, any recomendations on a good video card to get the best picture? I'm starting to lean towards an 8600 or 9600 vid card.
-
I've got an evga 210 vid card and it's either that or the memory that has been driving me insane. Not 100% sure since I replaced both at the same time but i'm leaning towards the vid card for two reasons. First, The memory was running in the same machine (different motherboard) for the last 18 months with zero issues. The video card was new. I tried 2 different drivers for the 210. The newest one produce blue screens with the geo software in 1-3 hours and sometimes quicker. I uninstalled the drivers (driver sweeper in safe mode etc) and put in older drivers. This is a new card from nvidia so there are not a lot of old drivers. However the oldest driver would allow us to operate for 5-12 hours before a blue screen. Sometimes they were much quicker timewise but always better than the newest driver. That's why I think the 210 is the issue. Replaced 210 with a 7800gt and so far so good. picture quality isn't as good but at least no bluescreens. So I'm looking for a good card that will work with this system and make it look the best it can.
-
I've had a boatload of issues with my upgraded system. However we finally have nailed it down to one of two things. It's either the memory or the evga gforce 210 (or the drivers). The memory was working fine in the old system but that doesn't always mean much. So I replaced both and the system has been up non stop for 4 days with zero issues. I'm using a 7800 gt video card at the moment and older 185.?? drivers. Before the longest it would run before a blue screen is 7-10 hours and usually only 1 or 2. With the 210, I had better luck with the oldest driver available for that card. But it still never went through the night without crashing. This is all with a q6600 8.3.2 software and windows 7 32 bit. So my opinion so far is windows 7 works. Q6600 is fine. But again this is the 8.3.2 software so that might have something to do with it.

Do you have the supplemental power connected to the geo card? I'm running Win7 and a 1480 and it looks good. I had XP on it and don't really see any difference between the two of them. Both show the same video.
