Used all kinds of boards .... currently using a system with a 2600 XT (dual dvi): good. Any grapics DVI graphics card (mid range) will do: just adjust the settings (all have that option). Even the new onboard cards are good enough. Use a highend monitor (Eizo) to look at the video. The monitor makes a big difference btw ! (don't use a cheap panel) It's like cheap speakers on a high end audio system. Want super images: use a splitter or "Geovision loop-through card" and analog monitor's ..... (so real old fashion monitor with high TVL rating). You will always loose quality because of compression and digital output to LCD etc ... Want digital quality: go to high-end IP cam's.

interesting info, have not tested it but would like to know witch cards you use from nvidia and ati. I have seen quality differences between different models of cards (low-end or high-end ....).

ok, works on wan as well (just some setting to get it loaded) only BIG issue is that the activex control is from an unknown publisher so most browsers will block it ! Need an activex from Geovision (and then a small one ....like this one).

edited rory's code, works fine on a LAN. Just need to find out how to invoke the loading of the active-x component from a website .... Like the Geovison webcam: first time it will ask to load the active-x and activate it. I have a programming background but this stuff is new. Probably just a few lines of code that I can insert. The above link (rory's code) looks the most promising. Still active-x and need to see if if will work over WAN. Would be nice if Geovison would build a simple website plugin for a cam-stream. Lot of people would use it I guess. Huub

both work fine. Just don't use VGA .... DVI is much better

had a look at the above, dont see anything that I can integrate in a website to get streams from Geovison. I know there are a lots of Ip-cams that have website integration (so does geovison), but I just want to open a window, no controls, no active-x. Huub

as far as I know not, having the same problem. Couple optioms I thought of: - Have a build in scheduler for cam settings and use time and location to adjust day/night (because it's different in every country and time of the year) - Input based per cam, so you can use a light sensor (cheap) - Automatic gain control (software) based on levels you set .... Would make a difference to get better video's.

intel has lots, witch chipset is it ?

don't know the Dell but does it have the correct chipset for Geovison, if not it will never work. You mentioned it works perfect in another system so to me that means the PC or the OS is the problem.OS is normally easy (default always works), so check the pc's chipset.

install 8.2 (use original cd) and see if it runs. If yes, very likey original.

if you want all on one screen: control center (up to 4 screens and 96 cam's per screen). Video is fixed (so no motion detection: is possible as well but again 42 cam's). But for a nightclub they would popup all the time anyhow. You will use more bandwith ! (but not that bad got over 40 screens already on a mobile 3G connection).

he is right I have this as well. Webcam locks after a couple of weeks (vista). It does not lock if you have a webcam session open all the time (using internet explorer). If you do not have it open it will lock. Only thing you can do is restart. Workaround: set the enable restart option and set at 2 weeks or install on XP. Had this now several times and did not post yet because It could be a combination of things (Vista, PC, router, etc ...). But looks a like a bug. I have customers running 8.2 on XP and they do not seem to have this problem ....

center v2 can handle a maximum of 42 on one screen and is designed for motion detection (pops-up if motion is detected). You can scroll the screen, but one fysical monitor. Control center is better (up to 4 monitors, with fixed images) and even a separate motion detection screen. As log as the upload is ok, but I have tested it and can get over 40 cam's on a 4 mb download. Use H264 as codec.

yes possible with 2008 cards or wait for 8.3 (will support multiple cards, believe 32 channels max and NVR even 64). They did demo it on ifsec.

yep, tried fake as well ..... they hang, restart, etc ... picture quality is less. not worth it ! Test: download (don't use the CD you got with the card) 8.2 from Geovision and try to run it .... if fake it will fail.

thanks to Andy I now know how it works. Only issue is that if it switches to fail-over it will not switch back to the original system automatically ...... meaning manual starting/stopping of Centers V2's !
