DDNS might be a bit less reliable that Static IP, however in most cases it certainly does it's job. It might take a while for DDNS to change binded address so if there's difficulties DO NOT reboot modem/router too often because it causes DDNS service to stuck with an old IP also, there's some routers which won't update DDNS properly under certain conditions, so you should check what is external IP address of the network DVR is on (you could use http://whatismyip.com) and that ping your DDNS domain from another network to see whether IP addresses are the same

Kodicom webdvr hosting
Integratek replied to stuspick's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Do you have Kodicom Standalone DVR or PC-based system? What model and make is router? How exactly your Internet connection is working? what else boxes are in the chain? If you have something like phone box it might interfere. Somewhere in menu (I think Connection on Remote tabs) you should find Network settings. Double-check all port's you've opened, maybe change port 80 to something else in the menu or in file httpd.conf located under c:\apache I've had similar problems with PC-Based Kodicom, but just couldn't remember what was the exact cause. -

HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR CCTV CAMERA'S SPECIFICATIONS!
Integratek replied to 4n7h0n9's topic in Security Cameras
you can somewhat precisely find out camera's lines and pixels by making a checkered board and filming it, but IMNSHO it's waste of time Sometimes you might disassemble a camera and google for DSP or something -
Does anyone write custom CMS software for standalone DVR's?
Integratek replied to crosseyed66's topic in Digital Video Recorders
It pretty much depends on what exactly you want your users to be doing easily. -
Kodicom webdvr hosting

If you are able to connect to http://your.dyndns.domain it means that ISP is NOT blocking port 80 try to test the connection from computer located on same network, preferably connected to same switch you do not need any webhosting or anything like that -
It might be because Win7 has much stronger protection over system components. Possible solution might be to turn off completely that security messages showing up after screen has darkened and asking for administrator credentials

they are one of larges and most well known around the globe if you are unhappy with whatever geovision stuff you have it's probably because it's counterfeit
-
provide more details - view angle, lens, distance to area being captured, overall lighting conditions, camera brand and price you payed a screenshot with a person standing in capturea area facing camera would be most helpful

Hello all I have a customer who owns an orangery which is constantly vandalized by some unfriendly neighbours. Due to few reasons it's too expencive and inefficient to surround it by a fence, so what he's willing to do is install some early warning system which might allow him to be informed at early stages of breach - before alarm system inside offices goes off - to get there in person with his family and/or police So what I was thinking is that to get a Magic Radar or Geovision PC card with IO board, connect some motion sensors to it, maybe a relay to turn on lights there, maybe install one or two IR PTZ's to locate villain's location, etc etc. The question is whether Magic Radar or Geovision (or any other brand) has some advanced scripting abilities for IO channels. E.g. if motion detected on sensor #1 send SMS (or call mobile phone); aim PTZ at motion area; after 5 minutes turn on lights
-
generally, bigger=better but smaller sensor might have better specs than a large one

Security system with motion sensor triggered lighting

the orangery is 40 meters by 15 meters breach area is about 20-50 meters from orangery half surrounding it. Total perimeter lenght is probably 150-200 meters -
i've had similar problem with some crappy ir bullets. in some light conditions - near complete or complete darkness it was overamplyfing the signal making bleach halo and rest of the image unusable. was one damn nightmare job. at first i couldn't understand what's the problem. i couldnt reproduce the effect in the lab because for some reason it worked there perfectly - probably because light reflected from the walls and overall lighting was above threshold. drove me pretty mad. after analysing the video signal on the site with a scope i came to a sad conclution that i will have to replace 28 ir bullest scattered over huge car service center with carwash, store and hydraulic jacks.

Sunlight, Image Sensor Damage
Integratek replied to ClintF's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
sensors damaged by sunlight or laser would normally display some picture with black hole where the actual damage were. IMHO it's not likely that a weakend light of sun before sunset would damage AI cam. -
sometimes its better to use 4 relatively cheap cameras to cover wide area where car might pass than buying an expensive megapix.

you'd only pay for the phone call - since modem connection is analog. however if you are planning to view video over modem connection don't be expectiong anything other than a slide-show.

dvr software in vb6
Integratek replied to ofekp's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
sort of real-time video processing is not a simple task so you really should start with generic hardware and hardware (which at least has some freely available documentation) to learn your way around. besides, without SDK you won't be able to do anything, and no manufacturer would give you SDK just like that - you have to be registered software developer/integrator to begin with. you could find out whether you hardware has bt chip by pulling it out and examining the bigger chips. -
indeed activeX HAS to be enabled in most cases. however cheaper chinese dvrs might not translate picture across the router unless the DVR's ip is configured as DMZ
-
i wouldn't recommend using Gigabyte MB's for DVR. much less reliable than Abit or Intel. Personally i use Intel - most reliable of all.

dvr software in vb6
Integratek replied to ofekp's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
directshow might or might not help if you'd try to use generic bt848/bt878-based hardware which is working with generic drivers and software - like standart tv-capture or something. most of large dvr card manufacturers (gv, kodicom, avermedia, hik, whatever) on the market intentionally use non-standart drives and software just to protect from cloning. -
Which Card to Use...
Integratek replied to Securitymaster's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
i'd use an analog multiplexor just to feed the video to tv's you could use bnc-T connectiors to split signal from each camera into both DVR and multiplexor and security-wise it's even better solution to have two separated units.
