Honest thoughts on ACTi cameras?
Media replied to Bungle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Guys to the reason it went back to factory default setting is you have to click on save reboot after you apply to make the changes. They should change that since it's confusing -
POE what do you guys use?
Media replied to Media's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
it is ok switch but it will cut your bandwith by 30-40 % that why I stop using them What are you using now? by the way the camera are acti 3401 10/100 would be fine i think for 4 cameras or what do u think It's my first time testing IP stuff another question is can i use Cat6? instead of cat5? Does the POE send out 12VDC or higher? i 've heard some stories the POE burns out IP cameras -
1. I having a problem with web viewer through internet explorer 6 and 8 on this version. If you double click on one of the channel to blow up the single screen then double click to go back to 4 screen split you get no live feedback. It gives your no signal logo I have to disconnect then reconnect it to get the video back 2. Adding multiple sites on the web viewer is good feature but it doesn't save the setting after you closed and re opened the browser again. by the way where do you find their new version of the remote software. I can only download the server software from their site.

Nuvico doesn't say DVR cards right?
-
I'm not experiencing any problem here. You need to hide your DVR or relocate it with a lock box Don't put it where your employees can have access to it.

Nuuo dvr cards have anyone tried?
Media replied to Media's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Thanks for the info and thanks for mentioning Hikvision I have tested some of their products that came directly from them about 3 years ago. Let just say I'm not a fan of it but that won't keep me from trying Nuuo products because of their software. -
What model are these? and how long have they been installed?

Nuvico EV-4000 vs. AVerMedia 1304NET SATA+
Media replied to etech22's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Nuvico is a little more expensive and well built with DVD+nice software The only thing I see 1304 better at is in the picture quality and it does have motion detection -
It's the same thing I like to refer it as DVR card when talking to the customer who doesn't know much about the technology. A capture card is a DVR card but can be miss understanding with the people who are not in the CCTV world. There are capture card that does capture tv show, movies, camcorder etc. When you are talking about capture card in CCTV it is the DVR card.

If you go IP, how do you get TV outs? like spot monitors etc? Is there a way to matrix or it's to early?

I am just wonder if these are the new generation of Avtech Have anyone bench test one? I like to know the video quality of it I really like user friendly software of av761 but the video quality was poor, comparing to Avermedia DVR
-
I can't say about Geo but Avermedia some of complaints 1. The Remote software you can't add multi account 2. CMS alarm screen show up as primary instead of live or monitor screen 3. All Software are not integrated together for example you can't do remote setup with the remote software without having to install another program called remote setup which is a separate program from the remote software. Same goes for other programs like enhance etc... It's like you have to install each program separately just to do one job. 4. The new remote version on live view doesn't have overlay time stamp on each camera (it does stamp when you export it to avi) They should look at Nuvico software as a role model, there stuff is super easy to use and one install you are done. Everything else about aver i like it.. the video quality is nice, support ip cams, free software, nice product lines and stable.

at night the IR comes on which draws more amp I ran into the similar problem which is cat5 cable too. my installation was only around 200ft a thin cat5 wire cannot carry enough power even though i was getting 12vdc but amp reading was low i solved this problem by using two pairs which was going to another camera now i gotta run a new wire out for a second camera another one of my camera is only around 100ft and i get half voltage drop like 7vdc instead of 12 even if i tried to crank the voltage up to 13vdc i don't know what is going on here i should have run Siamese instead

Does your dvr have watermark feature? that should help with alternation of image or video questions.
