I need to order a DVR this week. Can anyone give me some pros or cons on the Alcatraz ALD-810? Is there anything else in the $1000 price range that has the same features, or should I just go with this unit. No one has responded to my 1st post for help. I came here instead of eBay, but can't get some advice. Hello sponsors, anyone want my money?

Please help me decide. I am looking at the following: CoviSec Alcatraz ALD-810, CCTV imports DVR915 (EP) 9 Channel, 808 (EG) 8 Channel MPEG4 DVR W/ CD Writer. Anyone have pros or cons on these? Features I consider most important: 8 or 9 channel, JPEG2000 & h.264, remote access via static IP on DSL through an Apple extreme base station router, external alarm trigger (motion detect not as important), RS485 camera control, prefer DVD writer built in. I am ready to buy from vendors that support this forum. I welcome any quotes on products that meet these specs. George Bortle
