sir scorpion is right bring it back if under warranty. if it is not under warranty anymore. you can try to upgrade the firmware of the dvr.
-
please check your record setting. if you set it to overwrite. when your hard disk is full. the dvr will clear 3GB of space. so you will see 3G on the upper right corner. is there an -OW- below the HDD capacity? if there is it is in overwrite function. you cannot stop the recording since you have set the record to manual. if you disabled it. you can manually record and stop.

for the ordinary dvr, to view the camera on site will not be a problem since you can all set them to D1 resolution. correct me if i am wrong. the difference only of high end and low end today is the web transmitting format. is this correct? for the camera what resolution do i need to choose ? we are using ntsc here. is it 525?

for 480W power supply. the 12Vdc is 15A. the number of cameras may vary depending on the number of hardware you have installed on your computer. how many cameras have you tried yo hook up on the power supply of the computer?
-
thanks. because i had a experience before that the rat chewed the power supply lines. what type of cable do you use for power? is it also plenum rated?
-
i think for number 1 you can just use a router as access point. the cat5e from the switch will be connected to the WAN port of the router. by using this connection i think the DJ won't be able to penetrate the POS since they will be on a different network. for #2. you can use access point or a router. if you are going to use a router . set the wireless security first on the router. then disable the dhcp function. you connect the network cable from the host router to the LAN port of the router. then the computer using the wireless will be on the same network. for #3 i'm not familiar with it
-
ok. thanks
-
sir is the cable not be prone to attacks from rodents? do we need to put the cable inside flexible hose? or suspending the cable above the ceiling would do?
-
ok. thanks sir scruit.
-
what kind of cable do you use for access control? cat5e?
-
please check the time recording table of the DVR. if you don't have it, you can have an actual test. connect one camera to the dvr and select you desired setting. record for at least 2 mins and note down the quality setting and fps setting, from there you can estimate the space the will be occupied by the video for a certain setting.
