This is not weatherproof. I'm not sure from your description if that was a necessity. http://www.apw.com/productsServices/productShowcase/vsc28.jsp

You'll need a receiver/driver since the DVR sends digitally encoded signals for the PTZ operation. Make sure the DVR has the ability to handle Kalatel products. http://www.geindustrial.com/products/specs/ktd_128_prd.pdf

These are the guys that really make the DVR. That place is a poser, pretending they make them. http://www.webgateinc.com/wg_htdocs/english/products/products_webeye_DS1600Q.html

They are very proud of their system. I must admit they write good copy. I wish one of the DVR guys I represent would do writeups like that. I might get more DVR sales. I do wonder about the fact they have no contact information other than a telephone number. Little suspect that you can't find an email address or a physical address anywhere or at least I can't find it.

http://www.bluenetvideo.com/ Looks pretty good, I think we discussed this once before in another of the forums. Should do a search on Blue Net or bluenet.

As Rory said the Sony is a good high resolution color camera but you will need some decent lighting at night, presuming night operation is important. Also you will need to incorporate the camera into a housing and mount. Depending on your area you might need the housing to have a heater. Listed below is one example of such a housing. What area are you in? If you do go with the Sony make sure you get an auto iris varifocal lens. Indoors you might want to go with color domes and depending on how accessible they are you may need to use vandal resistant domes. Again I'll post a couple of links so you can see some examples. There are several good suppliers of these products, Spy Town being one of them. Embedded DVRs are the better way to go since they are easier to use and more reliable than many of the PC based systems floating around. But that is a subject all in itself that we have gone over in another part of the forum. http://www.vitekcctv.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=104 http://www.vitekcctv.com/Sections.asp?SectionID=1002#6 http://www.vitekcctv.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=181

No, all Sanyo's wire the same, just pull the manual and it will have the wiring diagram in it. You'll want the one for the video iris lens, 3 wire only. Make sure you have the lens switch to video and not DC and also turn off the AES so the camera knows you are using an auto iris liens.
-
Yes, the lens from Videor Technical will be compatible with any camera that has the ability to handle a video iris lens. This is not to be confused with a DC auto iris lens. Your camera needs to have a switch that says DC-Video for the auto iris. Then look up the wiring diagram for the 4 pin connector (one pin isn't used) and you will see white is video feedback, red is power, and black or green, or shield is ground. You'll need a very fine tipped low power soldering iron since the wires and pins are very small. The wiring diagram for the 4 pin connector will be in the camera instruction booklet. What camera are you going to be using with this lens?
-
You have to unsolder the old connector and then resolder to the new one. I haven't seen any premade adapters that would convert them.

Maybe you could use something like this, you might be able to get 3 transformers mounted. This plugs into the outlet and you can screw mount it to the wall. http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Lite_On_Peripherals_12_Outlet_Rack_Mount_Power_Strip_with_Metal_Housing_ADBL_RS_1215

Nubie Question
AVCONSULTING replied to thekahuna's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Going to a higher frame rate will not help the quality of the video image, it only allows you to record more frames per second and on a 4 camera system 5 fps per camera is just fine. First check in your setup menus to make sure you have the cameras set at the highest resolution and also that the 640x480 picture size is selected. If you have done this and you are still getting poor quality video then the card you have simply does not have a high quality compression algorithim and getting a faster card from the same supplier will not help. -

Raidentech ? DVR card
AVCONSULTING replied to Tim's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Well the video shot at the very bottom is definitely Kodicom, but the other shots weren't so I don't know if those are from the actual unit or just screen shots they stole for their article on DVRs. Price is certainly good. Have to to a little more investigation. -
This is the heavy hitter magazine for the Asian security industry. Very influential and the source for finding tons of CCTV OEM information. I doubt if very many Bahamians read it though.

Rory, are you deprived of good TV programming there? I thought you lived in a Paradise. Isn't that why they call it Paradise Island? You'd think you were living on one of the French Guyana prison islands. -

They should be available in the next two weeks. I was told by Chance I USA they would be getting them in. I think Technovision already has them and they are the same thing.
-
Have they changed that terrible GUI? One thing I bet they didn't change is their great distribution policy.

TVS has a good software package called CYA, used with their interface boxes. I don't know what the pricing is since Honeywell bought them. From what I've heard it is an exclusive ADI product now since ADI is also owned by Honeywell. Worth checking out, I presume you have an ADI branch near you. http://www.tvs-inc.com/

You'll need Siamese coax cable, both coax and power are in same jacket. Just make sure you get 95% copper braid copper core. Comes in 1000' and 500' lengths. Because of heavy weight best bet is to look for a local wire supplier. Most likely there will be a Graybar in your area so check with them and see if you can buy it. Freight alone will offset any savings you could find from a distributor not in your area. Also Richardson Electronics carries it. What is your location? -
I am going to be giving a DVR seminar at one of our distributors covering the basics of digital video. Has anyone seen some readily available training material that would be good to pass out during the seminar. So far I found a pull out guide in Security Sales magazine on Compression done by Honeywell but it is pretty heavy duty tech speak and I was looking for something less taxing. Most of the people will be fairly new to DVRs.

I'm not a big fan of AVTECH stuff. We have it in low end part of Vitek but when it comes to the better embedded we went with Nuvico. I'd look into that. Has USB 2.0 ports for CD/RW and they are working on a multi site remote software. I'd prefer you to buy the Vitek version of course but it is really the same thing. Check the Vitek site out for East Coast distributors. But Vitek or Nuvico it is a good solid machine with features and decent pricing. http://www.vitekcctv.com/Distributors.asp
