Video Splitting to DVR and modulation equipment?
AVCONSULTING replied to Zyra Tech's topic in General Digital Discussion
Yes if you are trying to split all 16 cameras. At that point you would want a different type of splitter that handled a large number of cameras. Something like the Kalatel. Here is a link to that information. http://www.geindustrial.com/cwc/products/ge-interlogix?pnlid=9&famid=63&catid=1093&id=DistriAmp&typeId=4&lang=en_US -
Video Splitting to DVR and modulation equipment?
AVCONSULTING replied to Zyra Tech's topic in General Digital Discussion
You'll need a video distribution amplifier or VDA. Here is an example of one. Your local CCTV distributor can get them. Is there any CCTV specialty distributor in your area? If not then generally Tri-Ed or ADI can get them or might have them in stock. http://www.vitekcctv.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=13 -
Thanks for the review. Valuable information on real life situation. I'm sure it is some really cheap Taiwanese or Chinese version they picked up. Unfortunately most people don't bother to check out these things first. Hope you can return it.

That would be ok as long as the braid is copper and not aluminum.
-
Coax is 75 ohms for CCTV. Coax can be other impedances though so you have to check on the jacket to see what it says. If it is not a copper braid copper core cable then it has very limited uses in CCTV and should be reserved for RF use.

You might have a ground loop. Try plugging the power supply into the same outlet as the monitor (move the monitor over to the same outlet or get an extension cable).
-
You have to use a Kalatel receiver. Here is a list. KTD-128 is probably the best suited for your purpose. http://www.geindustrial.com/cwc/products/ge-interlogix?pnlid=9&famid=63&catid=1092&id=PTZ_Receiver&typeId=4&lang=en_US

Dialup Video Transmitters
AVCONSULTING replied to dble's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
All Telexper DVRs are optimized for dialup video and ptz control, but remember that any ptz is going to be severly limited by the transmission speed of the modem and will lag behind your command. No way to track a person or car. www.telexper.com -
This company sells Idis based PC DVR's. Not sure who is selling the embedded ones here. Richardson only has the PC based Idis also. Ultrak is now Honeywell and I'm not sure if they are still using the Idis boards. http://www.eastmansecurity.com/

Limited selection of IP cameras - problem?
AVCONSULTING replied to Dan_Toronto's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
There are a few DVRs that have multi channel audio, but are PC based. Here is one that a customer of mine used that he liked very much. http://www.silicor.com/ -

Limited selection of IP cameras - problem?
AVCONSULTING replied to Dan_Toronto's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Problem with the cameras with built in servers is that the companies making them are not using high quality cameras. You are missing out on all the excellent wide dynamic range cameras or day/night cameras that are on the market. The best combination is to use one of the good cameras and a standalone server. There are lots of standalones out there and some are pretty inexpensive. Here is a link to one I found that is under $300 dealer. http://www.vitekcctv.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=178 -

AVCONSULTING replied to cctv_down_under's topic in Questions about this site
Yes, this is becoming a many times a day habit for me. If you discontinue the site I might have to go do drugs or something. -
Good idea. With all the interest in this sector of the market we should have a forum dedicated to this.

Sorry I didnt' read your post carefully enough. No I haven't seen any OEM parts that you could buy that just do the recording. I'll keep an eye out and check with some of my CCTV resources.

I haven't used that particular model but I have used the PC based Idis DVR and it is one of the best I have seen. If the software is the same and this is an embedded version then it should be a great DVR. How much are they?

Diginet site, can't minimize?
AVCONSULTING replied to alkaprim's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Perhaps you worded the question wrong. Did you want to dump out of the program and get to the desktop in order to do maintenance? Is this on the Kodicom DVR itself or on a remote computer that is hooked up to the Kodicom? Perhaps you can give a more detailed question as to what you are trying to accomplish. -

A good place to start is in the ASIS organization. They have books and training programs available. Another place is LRC training. Here are some links for you. www.asisonline.org www.ltctrainingcntr.com www.cctvtraining.com www.stamweb.com www.vsscctv.com/dealtools.asp

You are without doubt the top dog maven when it comes to GeoVision. They should put you on the staff and pay you lots of money. Let me know when that happens and I'll send you a get well card so you can recover from the shock. -
MagicRadar vs AnyKeeper
AVCONSULTING replied to loop's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
At the ISC show Magic Radar showed upcoming software with all sorts of new stuff. Unfortunately I gave my brochure away, but they had several good features coming up. Not as many as GeoVision though. I think they still rank number one in features. I've almost given up on Magic Radar out here since they are starting to be sellouts just like GeoVision and if I am going to go with a sellout (as in lowball scum dogs) I might as well go with the best featured unit. -
I've been over there. I know the owners and I stop by and see them every so often. They have over one million dollars of inventory on hand. They buy hundreds of cameras at one shot. They recently placed an order, one single order, for over 100k of DM DVRS. One of the owners told me that even though he dislikes the distribution policies of GeoVision he is going to carry the line anyway because of the high demand. When I had my distributing company a few years back I used to carry over one million in inventory on CCTV so I know that VSSI has that much or even more on the floor.
