Magic Radar DVR Card
AVCONSULTING replied to AVCONSULTING's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Tibet Systems is the parent company. If you talk to them again could you get quantity pricing on their boards and pass it along. We seem to have a very hard time getting them to respond. They will be at the ISC show in March but I'd like to get pricing sooner. Also any pricing on GeoVision will help. We are looking at both boards for a large OEM project. -
Does anyone know who actually makes the DVR card shown in this link. There are two companies in Los Angeles selling the same DVR. http://www.telpix.com/ Please look under DVRs, specifically the DV9000 series. I know the other series, Juno etc is Digi Flower but I can't figure out the 9000 series.

That is the one big fault of GeoVision, they want to sell to everyone, dvr makers, dealers, distributors, end users. I think they have hurt themselves by selling direct to too many people. Posting the software updates for anyone to download has also hurt them. I think that is one of the reasons they are having problems with bootleg cards. All you do is buy a bootleg card and get the free software. Anyone knows that the real value lies in the software not the card. They have a great product but have little or no knowledge about marketing the product.

Where can I get good quality RG95/2 (RG59 + 2 core) in UK?

Try Richardson Electronics. Here is a link showing their information. They deal in a lot of CCTV here in the U.S. and maybe they will have some at their other overseas branches. http://www.cctvnet.com/euro.asp -
We gave up on trying to update everyone. In fact we found it is just best to leave things alone unless someone specifically requests an update. It is something like that old saying "Let sleeping dogs lie" or "Don't fix it if it ain't broke". If the customer is happy with what he has we don't shake things up. Besides with hundreds of installed DVRs it would probably be an impossible job to keep up with all of them.

I found that GeoVision distributor site. From what I understand they are one of the largest GeoVision distributors in the U.S. and might even get you better pricing than factory direct. You can give them a try. http://www.wisemicro.com/News.htm

This is a guy in your area who is selling what I think are GeoVisions on Ebay. Take a look at the link and see if it is truly a GeoVision. You might be able to work with him on getting a good price since I'm pretty sure GeoVision prices on volume only. There is also a big distributor of GeoVision in Glendale, CA. I'll see if I can find their website. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2592350902&category=46974

I am attending a meeting with one of my clients next week at Geovision USA. He is evaluating the Geovision card as a basis for a new DVR he will produce. Not being totally familiar with the system I'd like any input that Geovision users might have regarding outstanding problems with the card or software and also a wish list of new features desired. I'll present both at the meeting. Maybe it will get back to the main factory.

I'm guessing that this is the original manufacturer of the Vitek and also the unit that Rory is working on. http://www.avtech.com.tw/Mall/DVR/AVC770.asp?LanguageType=1

Here are two other companies I found using Chance-I, I'm sure there are more so if anyone knows please post them. http://www.flashbacksystems.com/ http://www.instantview.net/ Notice how they can make the GUI's look totally different, but if you delve into the setup menus they all look identical. -

Any idea who else might be using the Magic Radar cards, or any pricing on them. The Unix company that sells them in Los Angeles sells a 16 camera system with 120 GB, 120x120 frame rate & XP Pro for $1095. I'm guessing that their base cost is around $600. What do you think? -

VSSI has them on sale with an 80 GB hdd for $795 U.S. I'm sure they can ship to you even though they are located in Los Angeles. I think they sell just about anywhere. Here is a link to their web site. www.vsscctv.com If you are calling them or emailing write to Vic, the owner. His email is vic@vsscctv.com

I'm very familiar with Chance-I and I'm almost certain that this is not the same card, or at the least the same software. I've compared the setup screens with this card/software combination and the Chance-I and they are totally different. So far I've found this card being used by Telpix in their 9000 series and also Eastman Telebell in their ETZ series. What I'd like to find is a source for the cards here in the U.S. to find out how much they are. -

This uses the Chance-I card. Although they customized the GUI you can tell by the setup menus. Chance-I is becoming very popular. I've found it being used by several companies lately. You can customize the GUI extensively but you can't change the setup menus so they are a dead giveaway. Here is the source for the actual boards. Chance-I does have a very nice system, I've used it with good success. www.chance-iusa.com -
I just tried it and was able to read the options. Perhaps you are having problems with video memory on your receiving computer. Anyway the picture looks good and I was able to switch it to high resolution ok. Was that "Seven Samurai" on second camera? One of my all time favorites.

I just tried your link but it isn't responding. Is the system down?

Made it to the big time. Are you going to have a booth at ISC? Is Flashback DVR very big in your area?

Thanks. It is very possible there is a U.S. source. I'd like to find them since there is a local Korean distributor selling full boat 16 channel DVRs with these cards for $1095, including XP Pro, 120 GB, 120x120 FPS. -

I found the site for the board. It is called Magic Radar (that name alone would turn me off, no wonder they renamed it). Anyway here is the web site www.magicradar.com Anyone ever heard of them?
