As stated earlier you will need a time lapse recorder, I suggest the Sanyo since it seems to be the most compatible with various brands. You'll also need a multiplexer and the Pelco seems to be able to decode the most popular brands. You might want to check with someone at Pelco. Below is a link. http://www.pelco.com/products/default.aspx?id=273

They are an honest company that understands that RF is tricky and doesn't always work. Try doing that with Trango or some of the others. They don't know who you are once you buy their stuff. Can't take chances like that when getting high end RF stuff.

Have had very good experiences with MicroTek and they have excellent factory support. Much better than most wireless companies which seem to not care what happens to you after you buy their product. Good bunch of guys, good product, and very reasonably priced.

Nuvico DVR 8ch stand alone Home use
AVCONSULTING replied to RJTwin's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Stick with the internal HD since you will get a better FPS and also higher resolution. As far as VSSI, they have been a distributor in the industry for several years and have a fine reputation. Ask them about the equivalent DVR in the Vitek line, it is the same unit but OEM'd and I think it might actually cost less. If you set the motion detection properly you should be able to extend the HD recording time, but look into the higher GB options on both the Nuvico and Vitek since it might not cost that much more to get extended recording ability. -
American Fibertek is also another quality fiber line and it ranks up there with the GE product. I think the way Griffon is laying out the system would be best since you have your own proprietary system and then you won't have to deal with the IT department which sometimes is difficult. Dilbert comic series gives many good examples of what happens when dealing with the IT dept.

Weatherproof DVR Lockbox
AVCONSULTING replied to AVCONSULTING's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Thanks, looks very interesting and I'm passing the link on to the installer to investigate further. -
Looking for weatherproof and air conditioned lockbox for DVR that will be at remote entrance gate. Only electrical available at the gate. Temps get into 120 F.

Networking is definitely one way of going, but if you have unused multimode fibers your most secure way would be to use fiber optic converters. This also avoids conflict with your IT dept which may be unhappy about the security system sharing their network system. Many good fiber optic equipment is available and they have various configurations that can carry multiple cameras on one fiber. Here is a good starting point to get some idea what is available. http://www.geindustrial.com/ge-interlogix/fiber/
-
A lot depends on whether you have unused strands of fiber optic cable running between the buildings that you can use for your CCTV. You could run conventional cameras with coax to the fiber optic hub area and at that point covert to fiber optic senders. Some of them can handle 8 or more cameras on one strand of fiber. You will need to find out also what type of fiber is being used (multimode or singlemode) an what type of connectors that are being used.

Maybe that is why GOOG is going to $500 a share. And I'm the dummy who sold my Google stock and bought Yahoo. Oh well.

The Ganz is far superior to the Everfocus and their support is excellent. Although for the amount of time you want to record you may have to look into a PC based system because they usually have better compression ratios. For a standalone though the Ganz would be a good choice.

split ohne video signal on two monitor
AVCONSULTING replied to vda's topic in General Digital Discussion
I'm not saying that using a T is technically correct and you are certainly right about loss of video signal and impedance being halved, but all in all it really comes down to what it looks like (or in some cases how it records) and results are results and sometimes they ignore technical aspects. It costs next to nothing to get a T and try it, and if they are happy with the picture then they saved the cost of a VDA. It may be wrong and still be right. I guess that made no sense LOL -
split ohne video signal on two monitor
AVCONSULTING replied to vda's topic in General Digital Discussion
T connectors are cheap so why not get one and try it. If you find the video to be distorted then you'll have to invest in an active VDA, but sometimes a T can work even in adverse conditions so nothing to lose by giving one a try. -
Did you work for Mace HQ or one of the takeovers they did awhile back? Interested in what you thought of the company and management. Their stock certainly seems to have it's problems lately.

That's funny. When I first came out here I went to San Diego looking for La Jolla but I thought it was La Hoya (pronounced that way but when I looked at La Jolla signs I thought they meant La Joela). Took me forever to figure it out. And of course ordering takeos, burrotos, etc. But I'll put up with Spanish if I don't have to shovel the snow. Where are you now in St. Louis?
-
Hey Scott, at least I had the good sense to get out of the Midwest and end up close to the hottest CA beaches. I used to live in St. Louis and got fed up with the snow in winter and the bugs and humidity in summer. I was loosing my mind out there. Now nothing but hot beach babes playing volleyball and roller blading. Too bad I'm too old now to do much about it.

Jasper, I am guilty and vow to improve but you have to admit that in all the boards, especially Yahoo financial, the word "lose" is almost always spelled "loose" and it drives me crazy to see it thousands of times. Rory, is that what you see in the mirror every day? No wonder you want to get out of the Bahamas. The sun has affected you.

Cat 5 (Twisted Pair) vs RG cabling
AVCONSULTING replied to chewingyu's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Yeah mon, gimmee some rastafarian hair. Actually any hair would be fine for me now. -
I expect at least stock options or the chance to buy into the initial IPO. Please just let me buy 10,000 shares at the IPO price and I'll be thrilled. Did you see what happened with that dumb IRBT (I Robot) IPO that makes those stupid robot vacuum cleaners? Instant riches. Anyone here can put their website on their personal information so that all links are there right in the memberlist. I often go to the memberlist and check out the links. No one is keeping that information hidden or deleting it and I even think some are using it as a bottom signature on their posts which seems fair. I think that Larry doesn't want to turn this into the alt.sec board where every post is a blatant advertisement for an online sales site. I mean do we really need our very own Bass pumper here (Larry probably knows to whom I refer). Go to the alt.sec site and you will see nothing but self promoting multiple posts. The site is a disaster and I for one don't want to see this place turn into that type of cesspool. Maybe Larry can parly this into a money maker and good for him. He was the only one in this industry to take the time and effort to put together a board like this. Now there is another one, and maybe in the future many more but Larry is the pioneer and deserves to get something for his efforts. Let us judge how well the various boards do and see which one remains the most used. If Larry's board fails because of restrictive measures that are intolerable to the majority of users then so be it. That is the power of the marketplace. I for one don't think it will happen but no one is forced to use this or any other board. That is the beauty of the internet. This is truly a place where majority rules. PS: Was there a request for links to be posted on other boards pointing to this one? Also please, everyone, including RORY, the word is "lose" not "loose". Like you are losers, you lose sight of the goal, you lose your wallet. Loose is like, the bulls have been let loose. You have loose bowels, you have loose morals. I am getting sick of message boards with thousands of posters who can't spell "LOSE" I am looosing my mind. See even I get crazy about it.

Cat 5 (Twisted Pair) vs RG cabling
AVCONSULTING replied to chewingyu's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
I'd use coax unless there is a space problem in the conduit. Cheaper, more reliable, easy to use. Just remember to get high quality 95% copper braid and copper core. No aluminum period no matter how many braids. -
Wow it has been two years, I just looked at when I joined. Bummer, I mean I congratulate you on keeping the board going for two years but geez it is really no fun getting two years older and not realizing it. My concept of time is shrinking faster than Einstein's relativity theorem. Do we early guys get a cut out of the tremendous wealth you are going to make from selling banner advertising. After all $50 a month per ad is going to put you into a whole new tax bracket and by distributing the money to us you will keep from paying too much in taxes. Think of it as a consulting fee or early development fee. I'll take stock options instead against the day you go public and this becomes a hot IPO like Google. Just a suggestion, give it some thought.

Why is it that the older I get the more technology becomes my enemy? Hey, why no more rotary dial phones? What gives here?

Cat 5 (Twisted Pair) vs RG cabling
AVCONSULTING replied to chewingyu's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Exactly how far are your runs? Also how large are the conduits available? Both factors could be a tipping point towards CAT5 or even fiber optics. -
I watch CNBC too much! Every single analyst there has 15 disclaimers after every stock they talk about. LOL.
