Don't use an auto focus (providing you can find one) because with moving traffic the lens would constantly be trying to find a focus and you'll end up with poor pictures and pretty soon a burnt out lens motor. Using an auto iris lens will work best with a wide dynamic range camera like the Panasonic or GE as suggested earlier.

No, Vitek didn't get the 9 channel. It is from AV in Taiwan, same place yours come from. I think Vitek is getting out of all non networkable DVRs in the future. Too many out there being blown out. The Eclipse DVR and Vitek are the same as far as I know in non network. As you can see, even Walmart is carrying them now. No profit in it anymore. At least the Walmarts are probably staying away from networkable because of the tech support needed.

Green leaves reflect an enormous amount of IR so with a color camera that has no IR cut filter this is going to be a problem. You might have to try something like a Sanyo Day/Night that actually has a motor that moves the IR cut filter out of the way at night in order to get the lower light.

DUH? That could definitely cause some ghosting. Glad you figured it out.

Check out the DVR at bottom of page. 4 channel DVR, very low price so you get quad and DVR. http://www.at-fairfax.com/DVR/VitekDvr.htm#vtdvr04q

I see a lot of activity going on with this stock, listed on NASDAQ, as MACE. Looked at their web site and the products look like regular old Chinese and Korean rebranded stuff, same as we talk about all the time here. Does anyone have any dealings with the company or their products that would warrant such interest on the part of investors?

You are such a humanitarian, thinking of the poor and downtrodden. We all know what you really want is an island full of casinos that you can sell cameras to. LOL. We'll have to rename you St. Rory.

NUvico Nvdr4000, Vitek DVR4080 or GE DVMre SDVR-4-80
AVCONSULTING replied to mitbug2's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Isn't that one the Argus unit that we've seen under a dozen different names? Anyway the Vitek and Nuvico (same units again) can be used with an external CD/RW. The Ameba/Argus/ETC. has no USB port for an external CD/RW. I didn't know that Spytown carried Vitek but if the price is as you say then get the Vitek since it is made by the same company that makes the Nuvico. The OEM in Korea is called Pinetron. Couple of nice features, when you record to a CD it makes a playable file that can be used on any computer without special software and it also can support dynamic IP. Has an IR remote included which makes using it easier so you don't have to be right next to it when you want to control it. The home page for Vitek is www.vitekcctv.com and you can get a listing of other distributors in case you want to check around, although the Spy price is pretty competitive. -
NUvico Nvdr4000, Vitek DVR4080 or GE DVMre SDVR-4-80
AVCONSULTING replied to mitbug2's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Vitek and Nuvico are the same. What area are you in and what place have you gotten pricing from? The Vitek and Nuvico can handle dynamic IP if that is a consideration. I don't know if the StorSafe can do that. -
Super company to deal with. I've used their products for many years and always good quality and top notch customer service. Don't know much about the new DVR but they took a very long time to bring one on board so should have some good features.

That's enough power to cook up a few Texas steaks. You shouldn't have any problem as long as you have line of site. The thing you might have a problem with is interference with someone else's system and I don't think you'll have a license for 5 watts.

Just discovered this site. Might be of interest. Job hunting site for industry people. http://www.wildbullet.com/

Check this out for some ideas for your new site. I also tried the other site you listed and it needs a password to get in. Doesn't look very interesting. http://www.digitalvideorecorder.net/DVRSearch.asp

Richardson owns a distributor in Canada called Burtek which is pretty big and the Capture DVR is their best selling PC based DVR. Capture is an in house brand for Richardson/Burtek that is from Hitron of Korea. Hitron used to private label all the CCTV equipment for Ultrak and when Ademco took over Ultrak a lot of the same equipment ended up under the Ademco name. I think Samsung/GVI also has the same unit under their name. Most likely the one you are working on is a 30 fps unit, maybe 120 fps but the 30 fps was their biggest seller. Good luck with it.

Capture is IDIS. Same as the Eastman Telebell IDIS system or the Ademco IDIS system. Richardson carries the Capture name through Hitron of Korea. It is actually a very good DVR card so if you have picture quality problems it is probably somewhere in the system and not due to the actual DVR. That said, you should check the DVR settings since they might have it on low resolution and small picture size.

Radio controlled wireless video
AVCONSULTING replied to cornwall's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Check out the wireless section. They have a really wide range of stuff and some of the high powered may be used in the UK even though you might not be able to use it here without a special license. http://207.207.29.130/store/departments.asp -
Best All Weather Color Dome Camera for the money
AVCONSULTING replied to Robocam's topic in Security Cameras
These have gimbal mounts. Available at Alarmax and Tri-ed and some others in the SoCal area. http://www.vitekcctv.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=182 These days it is tough to find CCTV knowledgeable distributor sales people. Don't know why but maybe there are just too many products out now compared to a few years ago when the industry was dominated by a small number of big gun factories. When you do find a sales person with good CCTV knowledge take good care of them, they can be a great resource for you. In fact most of the factory reps don't really understand the very lines they are representing. -
Any other cctv/security forums????

is this good compression and recording image quality?
AVCONSULTING replied to sf1964's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Recording speed does not affect quality of picture, only the number of frames you can capture per second. The more frames per second the smoother the playback motion, but the downside is you use up a lot more hard drive space. -
is this good compression and recording image quality?
AVCONSULTING replied to sf1964's topic in Digital Video Recorders
The Nuvico/Vitek lower cost units use Wavelet compression and although they are of high quality the compression is less than MPEG4. Wavelet is typically 15kb and MPEG4 is around 5. Both the standard and XG are good quality. The XG offers far faster recording speeds and more sophistication in menu options. Unless you need ultra high speed recording and many more bells and whistles you probably will find the Nuvico/Vitek to be acceptable for most stituations. Here is a list of the Vitek distributors around the country. I'm not sure who is carrying Nuvico. Vitek is also offering a free external CD/RW with the purchase of their DVR during the month of Dec & Jan. Not all distributors are aware of it yet so you should contact the factory first if you decide on ordering one. I don't think Nuvico is making the same offer. http://www.vitekcctv.com/Distributors.asp -

Not the XG. Standard model. Sold under the Nuvico name and the Vitek name. I don't know where you are located but the biggest Nuvico and Vitek distributor in the CA area is VSSI. Think about it. This forum has gotten popular enough to be considered by hackers. I think that is a great milestone in the history of the forum.

Here is a nicely laid out website that can help you in choosing the right equipment, especially the DVR. Also don't forget that motion detection lights are also a great deterent in scaring off would be thieves. No one likes light when they are up to no good. Helps with getting a better picture at night also. http://www.at-fairfax.com/CCTV.htm

Best All Weather Color Dome Camera for the money
AVCONSULTING replied to Robocam's topic in Security Cameras
Silent witness modular approach at first seems pretty nice, but when you have 16 modular domes to put together for a job all of a sudden it becomes one giant hassle. Who wants to have to put their cameras together like some kit? Extreme does the same with less hassle and has more options. Also Extreme isn't a house brand like Ademco which you can only get through ADI. You can get Extreme from a whole range of distributors. For less expensive weatherproof domes there is a whole range available as Rory has mentioned. Everfocus, Vitek, Samsung/GVI, etc.
