Changing ports on Control Center -> failes to start !
dcam replied to secureconcepts's topic in Geovision
XP and 8.12 +8.2 I have had the same problem for months now , had given up, thinking it was something stupid that I was missing, but now I see I'm not the only one. Everything works fine using multiview over IE. browser -
500mA or 1A ? Does it really matter?
dcam replied to magicsid's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
A good analogy for this power supply problem is, if you compare electrical power to a water supply. Water pressure is voltage. Water flow is amperage. You can get big voltage through a small cable (high pressure through a small pipe), But the only way to transmit big amperage is through a big cable (big flow through a big pipe) HOWEVER If you are transmitting this power over a long distance, and you are only using 12 v. its not sufficient to overcome the resistance of the small cable, so the only way to overcome this is to increase the size of the cable. You can also increase the voltage but is risky and difficult to calibrate, because the cameras use exactly 12 v. Remember when you check the voltage at the end of a very long thin cable, you always get 12 v. When the camera is connected, the current begins to flow and you will see a voltage drop -
I had a GV 600 and a NV500 running together using 3x different cameras with a splitter / amplifier, this was a test to see if there was any difference. The only difference I found was, under low light conditions the NV 5000 was giving a better clearer, noise free image. The Geo. unit was running on V8.12 but maybe V8.2 might be better

I dont know if this will help you, but what I do for clients is creat a short cut just before you put in your user name + password, that way you cut out all the previous stuff
-
Don't forget to have the cameras on the back up as well,(or the most important ones),, sometimes thieves will cut the power if they think there is a camera system installed, and dont forget to keep your DVR out of sight.
-
IT sounds to me like you have 2x problems, one that causes your HD's to fizzle out , and the other is definitely the card. You said you tried it out in another computer and it crashed, well that say everything, assuming the card, software, drivers etc.were properly installed, it should not crash another computer, send that thing back straight away, and when you get the new one back try it in another computer first, if it works fine then you know that you are not doing anything wrong with computer build or set up. The only thing is I would be afraid to try it out in the original computer in case there is a fault in it, (maybe motherboard) and it damaged the GV. card, not sure if this is possible though.

Im sorry this should have read [but this does NOT sound like its related],.... it does not sound like a chipset/camera problem,
-
The only way you can view your system is via JEPEG image viewer. Geovision uses Activex for its full applications, which is from Windows. If you had Mac OSX system you could install virtual Windows within that system and use all the Geovision services
-
Did you try using the Geovision DDNS service, its on the CD. Its a lot of work in the beginning to understand/set up these things, don't give up.
-
I have had a lot of chipset/camera problems, which you referred to, but this does sound like its related. different cameras always gave different problems and in varying degrees, your problem seems to be consistent,I presume you have connected different cams.(different manufactures) and connected them directly to the DVR( to eliminate outside interferance )and you get exactly the same result. Does the problem show up on playback. Sorry I cant help you any more .... anyone ?

Try the external usb hard drive, with an extension, you can hide maybe 15 m. away, also to ensure your DVR starts up on its own after a power failure, Go into bios ...power management... after power failure - power on. This eliminates the need to push the start button
-
What I always try to do is hide the DVR. behind a false panel ,or under the floor, above the ceiling. You can also create a new file path for your recordings, and use an external usb hard drive, you can hide that almost anywhere so even if they find the DVR. you will still have their pretty faces . If the DVR is hidden in an office where there is another computer , use a KVM. switch that way you see only one computer, one screen, one keyboard. If you want to hide your DVR. a long way (up to 100m.)from the screen/keyboard, you can use a Unit that transmits VGA / keyboard / mouse, signals via 2x cat5 cables, that way you can dig a hole 100m. deep and bury it there You could also leave an old (not working ) computer in the office as a decoy, they will have fun trying to sell that. Hope this helps.

Hi, I have been using Control CentreV8.12 for a while now, with no problems .I have recently installed a DVR. running V8.2, ( all the others were V8.12 or V8.01) so I had to upgrade C.C. to V8.2. Everything works fine except " remote playback" When I try to use it , I get an error message..."The procedure entry point GeoNetAvi_Command could not be located in the dynamic link library GVLVLServer.dll"... This happens on all DVR's. I approached Geovision about this, but they dont have a solution, (I downloaded the upgrade from Geovision).... Any ideas, Dominic.

Well the answer to that was , I did not see the little "save" button top left, under "host list. I love this forum ... I get to answer all my own questions. ('') So next question,.... Are there any problems with running "Control Centre" and a GV.600-4 card on the same computer, if it's powerful enough, (intel core 2 duo 2.3MHz - 4MB Cache - 2x1GB Mem. - on board video ) Maybe I'll need a video card. At the moment I'm running 2x computers
-
I have just installed a 600-8 using V8.2 , but when I try to access it with Control Centre I get "version mismatch" All the other DVR's are running on V8.12
-
Why can I not see the password for users, and myself, as supervisor. I remember being able to see this before , maybe in V8.01. There was a rectangular button with a line of dot's on it, and when ticked , it showed the password.
-
While we are on the subject , I have a "HTC Touch Cruise" (P3650), but can't get that thing to work with Geo. if anyone knows the correct procedure, pleeeeease let me know.
-
Ah yes , my version of C.C. was V8.12, I will have to upgrade to V8.2 OK. I have another question , when I update the "host information", for example from port 81 to port 80 and click OK , that works fine , but next time I log on to that site , it has reverted back to 81, although one of the sites is ok now!! ?

Hi. For the large hotspot, go to System configure> panel resolution> green arrow> quad enhance, this is available on V8, not sure about the lower versions.

As the playback comes from the hard drive ; try plugging in a USB hard drive , and change the file path, see if that works Do you have color + B/W cams. mixed, this can sometimes cause problems, also if you don't have any cameras on No.1 I believe that No. 1 PCI slot is generally used for video card , and mobo. manufactures sometimes make considerations for this, so it can on occasion cause a problem if the GV. card is in there
-
As far as I know you can't mix the two, if you switch your system to NTSC, your PAL color cams. will torn to B/W.
-
Welcome to the forum Nigel Does this pulsating occur roughly every 3 seconds? When you view the playback is the pulsating visible? When you connect the camera directly to a monitor ( a tv.), does it behave normally If the answer is yes, then it looks suspiciously like the topic you mentioned, also take a look at 12377
-
I have tried twice to convince Geovision that their 600 / 650 / 800 cards all have problems with certain new types of cameras (pulsating image / jagged edges / blurring / picture jumping up and down etc.) This occurs in live view and remote live view, playback is ok. This only occurs with V 8.12 as far as I know. I know that this has been discussed several times before on this forum, but i would like to know if anyone has had any reactions from Geovision, or if they intend to fix it, I had hoped they would address it in V 8.2, but no luck there. Maybe they only test new cameras on the higher cards ... 1120 etc. It seems every camera I test ( that meets my criteria ) has some little problem relating to the above. Thanks Dominic

Yes An... Rory but i cut my teeth on Geovision ,and although I dislike some aspects of Geo. I do have an affection for the rest of it. After setting up a Geo. + an Avermedia side by side for two prospective clients, they both chose Geo. so what do I do?. I think Geovision has to make a decision , to either try to solve this problem, or discontinue 600/650/800 cards, because this problem is on the increase, and its not going to go away. To make the jump to 1120 would be quite expensive, and in view of the fact that I don't need DSP, audio, or 100 FPS.(I only use PAL.), what have I to gain? Lower the price of the 1120, that might help for the future, but what about all those cards out there that are going to have to deal with all those new cams. Geovision over to you !!!

Sorry to bring this up again, but I was wondering if any progress has been made by Geovision on this. I have recently tested a camera on a 600/8 system, and it showed no problems, I then bought 6x of them, and installed one on a 650/8, the picture jumps up and down at irregular intervals. I wonder could this be caused by something else, I'm using the same spec. computer
