How many camera's do you have installed on your property
bricor replied to hey_moe's topic in Security Cameras
I had 14 but just pulled 2 so down to 12. I don't remember how many I wired for but it was 16-20. (i'm a nerd) -
Selling my 16 Channel G4-XLAHD DVR with 500gb hard drive. I have the original box, manuals, etc. and everything works like it should. Asking $800 shipped in the continental US.

To clarify, the image got worse after about 6 months. It wasn't great to begin with but the IR performance got worse. Even when new, you will find that the IR doesn't have the range or performance of a bullet or external illuminator. And as Rory has pointed out, they are more of a pain to adjust and to get the lense seated properly when re-installing the dome. I'm an installer and it's not as easy to return cameras, especially when they have been opened and installed.

The IR in these cameras doesn't work worth a crap compared to even a simple bullet camera. Range is crap and the image quality at night is crap. And now after about 6 months, the image is getting that dreaded cloudy look. Take the dome off and it's fine. Put the dome back on, crap. Clean the dome, no difference. Replace the dome with a new one, no difference. I was never pleased with the night time image when they were new but my customer thought it was fine so I quit messing with them. But now they have gotten worse looking.... I'm now going to have to either replace them or add external IR to get a usable night time image. Tip of the day, don't ever go bare back in a **ore house and don't use dome cameras with IR.

I wouldn't bother with the LDM-24VF either. I put in 8 for a neighbor and am having all kinds of issues with the IR. Basically, the picture at night stinks.

Tom, Which model from Qvis? I buy from them but thought they all used a sony chipset. (never mind, i think I figured out which model you are talking about) I've used CNB as well and haven't had any issues. Trying to download a night time pic now of one to post (that has plenty of light). The night time image with a flood light is very good. I have another on the side of my house with very little light and the image varies a bit depending on the settings. I've had it adjusted where the image was very clean but changed some settings and now I do have some noise, just haven't got back out to mess with it. I also just received some IR illuminators off ebay and plan on adding a couple of those. (puck type that have been posted about before on here)

I still got it. Make me an offer.

Camera image whited out during the day, fine at night?
bricor replied to bricor's topic in Security Cameras
Thanks for the info. I actually have 2 different customers that are experiencing this. One has the issue on 2 of his cameras, Nuvico TDN bullets in service for a few years now. The other is a neighbor and I was just over there jacking with this particular camera (CNB IR Dome, not TDN) that was starting to get IR wash out at night. I was playing with it during the evening trying to fix the IR issue (which got a little better) and then the next day, she emailed me to let me know the image was now whited out. Just can't win sometimes. -
Camera image whited out during the day, fine at night?

I was thinking auto iris or something like that. Any idea how to "un-stick" it. Cycling power didn't work. -
What would cause a camera image to look fine at night but to appear white during the day? Cameras have been in operation for a couple years and worked fine. (Nuvico bullet, true day/night)

I need to see the details of a Black man's face at night.

Your budget isn't realistic for what you want/need. (your off by a thousand at least per camera to get usable video in that large a space and from the top of a building) Analog cameras will not do what you want from that distance and cheap IP cameras won't either. To start, I'd suggest putting cameras at the entry/exit points of the parking lot and trying to get license plate info of the people entering the lot. -
What to get for a better image then a DBM-24VD ?? >>

I used the CNB LDM-20S for a job and the IR/night time image is pretty bad. I should have just stuck to the VBM-24's. -
Soundy, Can you confirm the height of the VCM with the surface mount adapter (the first pic)?
-
Maybe you guys can help, I mounted some VBM-24VF's under the eave on the exterior of a business (it's a daycare and built much like a home). I need to lower the camera 2-3" to clear the trim of the eave. I was hoping CNB had a spacer but I can't find anything that looks like it would work. Any ideas? Can the pipe be shortened on the pendant mount? It looks like a standard 1.5" NPT pipe but I've never used one so not sure. I can swap them out for the VCM if using the surface mount adapter will get me another 2-3".

I have a 16 channel G4-XLA model. I have no complaints for what it is and what it cost. Support has been good, they have a 800 number with service tech's here in the US to help out. I got set up as a dealer with them but don't do a whole lot of CCTV stuff (mainly a/v). If I can help out, let me know.
