Wouldn't it be better for me to install that software on my notebook and monitor with the dvr plugged/unplugged into the network? The dvr was bult by tsm who is listed as a geo dealer on geo's web

Just installed two professionally built DVR systems (16 & 8 cam, ver 8.01). Both were installed in different jobs and both hog up a lot of bandwidth and slow down other pc's on the network, even when there is no one using the web login. When I uplug the dvr's from the switch, the other pc's can surf the internet significantly smoother. Is this a common fact of geovision dvrs? Is there a work around or fix?

Just used a bunch of nuvico's domes - varifocal, AI. Of the dozen, several had to be returned when we noticed that the picture was coming in and out as we handled them. The service cord is really basic and you end up moving the frame when you pull the cord out. I'd go elswhere if I had to do it all over again. I'm always on the look out for cheaper and better but there's no value in something that causes time lost in labor.

Wiring a 70v audio system and cameras. Using 59 + power for 24ac cams and 16ga for speakers. The cable will be pulled together through emt, so I'm wondering if I need shielded speaker cable to prevent interference.

Sounds good. I've never used their box cams, but I just used their outdoor day/night ptz for the first time and it turned out good. It's weird how it really takes off if you hold down the pan. Is there anyway to have a one speed pan without the acceleration? Will their PTZ's work with most DVR manufacturers? So far I've only used it with a custom PC DVR, but I'd like to try it with the embedded linux kind.

I looked at that camera ball, but it was too much $$ for something that utilizes 4 board cameras. So I'm trying to do better and stay within a budget by making my own. I'm using their 18" dome and I just found some small cs mount cam bodies. So it should be better, but I'm not going to try and get a 360 view. I've decided to add some domes to cover the rest of the space.

Anyone install these on a rugular basis - pro cctv box cameras? Are they reliable? Service?

Anyone try and build there own 360 view camera ball (18" housing)? It would be nice if I could just do it with 3 cameras, but it seems unlikely. It would be GREAT to find a small box camera. I've tried one small box cam already, but the quality isn't as good as say a basic Sony with 420 lines. I suppose my other option would be to use the board cameras of a dome. The ball will be about 15 feet up centered in a 40' x 40' square space.

what's are the differences between the two? I've seen the switches on the cams but I've never used the video driven lens.

POWER and VIDEO over Cat-5...Good, Bad, Ugly?

So it seems like baluns are more problematic than coax? I was considering baluns on a job that required pulling everything though emt. -
Hi, I'm new to cctv. How do you know if a camera has the ability to use a 2.5mm or 4 mm cs lens? I purchased a cs mount camera and it would only stay in focus with a 6mm lens.
