New Year New Questions! WDR and IP megapix.. Do they exist?
destro_23 posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
This year i plan on switching my cameras to megapix in my personal business I have one megapix cam over the register and want to switch the rest out. BUT my place is ALL windows.. and blows out cameras during different points in the day. So my question is... are there WDR IP megapix cameras that actually work well? if so... any examples? Or can i mask a top section of a camera in software to NOT focus or use a certain area that is blinding it? or do i just go for the CNB 34VF's? -
New Year New Questions! WDR and IP megapix.. Do they exist?
destro_23 replied to destro_23's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks for the Reply... i'll check those out. But now i'm looking at the sony view-dr tech.. and the panasonic ones... BUT i'm wondering if there is a 90 deg lens for the panasonic this way i would only buy one instead of 2. My place is L shaped with the door being at the corner so instead of having 2 cameras on each end pointing at the door have one at the door 90deg pointing the other way... BUT may not be able to grab face on way in... just on the way out. Soundy have any video of those pany's? with typical window lighting blowing out the shot? -
Help with a large NVR set up from scratch
destro_23 replied to ProposalmanJ's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Some assumptions we can make.... Can we assume the network infrastructure is already there? since it's some sort of campus? Also speak with your networking crew... it's basically adding 500 mini linux boxes to network that will stream video over the network. this is one of those systems that if not done right.... with a correct monitoring center (think room with multiple large stations kinda like NCIS crime shows) there will be a lot of design involved just in that, let alone the network issues and design. just some things to think about cuz this is a project that is on or over $500k and you don't want that a problematic system that was your design and baby. Again i'm one of those people that try and list the worst out first. Systems Design is a MAJOR part of this... picking cameras and putting them up is the easier part. As a software engineer myself... largescale networking design is over my head. -
Avermedia NV3000 - My Experience
destro_23 replied to maestro7879's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Any update on this? Avermedia are the easiest cards to use and have some the easiest software... and iphohne and blackberry compatible. I get the NV5000's for friends all the time... and they know nothing about computers. Not knocking your station.. but at this point you may have some driver conflicts if your trying different software. Put the card into a fresh PC.. install software... plug in camera.. give us update -

Adding IP Cameras to DiBos 8.5
destro_23 replied to cmanvar's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
did anything change in the network setup recently? someone reset a router/switch somewhere? also is the DVR near where the ethernet cable of the cameras go into? if so maybe take a small home router and plug in one camera and the DVR into that... and start the troubleshooting from there? -
New Year New Questions! WDR and IP megapix.. Do they exist?
destro_23 replied to destro_23's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
sorry.. both for me, and a neighboring sunglass business that has a similar layout as mine. i'm thinking 2 different things here when i started looking at the youtube clips. 1k per camera is a little steep for my place/ I'd rather do an all inclusive trip to the dominican right now then another snow storm hitting me in jersey. soo $500 per camera is my budget, so i'll start doing the research now. But the sunglass store wants a (money) face shot pointing right at a glass door... lots of windows. when someone steals something from her.. it's usually a few hundred dollar pair of glasses. And then i was thinking about a few retail stores going up near me. And maybe i'll pitch something to the General contractor... sorry i'm all over the place with ideas right now. -

destro_23 replied to destro_23's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
thanks for tips... both look great... and the sony examples of "view-dr" tech on youtube look great. same for Panasonic's.. the only issue for me is they are just under 1k each. i'm going to need something in the $500 each range to be able to give a number that client won't have a heart attack on. so Acti's 3401 and 3511 domes seem to have a wdr feature.. just wonder how good they actually are. I may pitch a system to a big retail store that is opening up soon and will def think about having one of those point at front door. -
i see in the compatibility list that there is an ACM-3401 but just wondering if anyone has tried the TCM-3401 on an avermedia system. (TCM has a 'WDR' function to it. thanks!

what is freezing? is there any errors in the windows error log?

If you watch some card games on TV you will sometimes see the tiny camera tucked into a small "ledge" under the plavers hands... this is something that i think your looking for? kinda like this.. you drill a hole and just test it out.. they seem cheap enough. http://cgi.ebay.com/Tiny-Button-Wired-Colour-Security-CCTV-Spy-Camera-/300470442680?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item45f56f1ab8

Lock box for PC?
destro_23 replied to destro_23's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I agree... BUT i know once he hears the price he'll say no to it. I just found this link below.. i think this is what he kind of envisions. He has a small food business that has been broken into in the past... last time they cut the phone lines disabling the alarm, when he asked the alarm people how was that possible.. they said "these guys are pros!" LoL(he now has a cellular module and battery backup) so cutting phone lines is hopefully of no help to future intruders, and will now trigger alarm/police. He wants to possibly slow them down and make them work a little bit if they really want to rip out safe(bolted to floor) and computer.. http://www.tryten.com/Computer-Enclosures this guy wants cheaper solution... small pizza place.. he's leaving for Florida soon wants to keep eye on employees. And yes i can put this up against a wall with a socket inside(good thinking LoL) Aslo.. i'm running cat5e i'll search at threads.. but is it better to get shielded cat5e as these may be running across power lines? -

Divis 'security check error'
destro_23 replied to Dirk_D's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I have a divis card floating around i'll fire it up and let you guys know... i'll also try and grab a video from a avermedia card i have... then i'll try and play them in a regular windows XP virtual machine. see what happens. worse case the cops may HAVE to download http://www.videolan.org (VLC) plays just about everything. So i'll let you know. I made a detective download a codec pack before but i wrote SPECIFIC instructions.. he thanked me a month later because his computer was the only one able to play back a stabbing caught on tape at a bar. If you haven't found solution i'll give it a shot. Also.. these 50 systems are all PC based? have you bought a newer aventura card recently? did it have a newer version of the software? -
in reply to: NO PIRATED / CLONED CARDS ALLOWED
destro_23 replied to Pearwood's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
cloned cards are basically stolen/illegal designs. Thus the rule for cloned cards on this board. it's very simple. along with the TONS and TONS of people that have bought these cheap/clones on ebay(yea i have bought 2 of them and have been 100% screwed on 1) "loose" the install cd and then can't figure out how to make it work... they will flood this message board with do you have drivers to this board? i see it has a philips chip on it? and so on... it's really a waist of time.. an amazing avermedia NV5000 can be found for under 300$ and has full iPhone, blackberry, IP camera support. And guess what.. amazing and easy to find software!!! either way.. the rule is there as to keep the board clean of ebay cards that will only work with origional CD.. no updates.. and also read first sentence again. -
Viewgate/DVS/DiViS card problems
destro_23 replied to robca's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
i'm actually going through a similar situation... a client has an older card that is compatible with the chance-i software BUT the newest version of chance-i dvr gives the same error.. So i went an installed the software from 2 years ago back onto the machine(from the origional vendor he bought it from)... i didn't feel like being there all day and keep trying different dll's. I gave up. This is why i now always use Avermedia or other large companies.. there is no "forking" of software versions. oh yea if you find out what dll does the trick.. PM me -

Video format question
destro_23 replied to cupojoe's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
http://www.ateck.com/d_support.asp looks like this company has a player you can download for LTS boxes... give it a shot also what LTS box do you have? -
also just found that you may need to port forward 5001 to 5003 try that and see what happens... also why we are at it... change the port number of the server... lets say to port 90 http://82.19.44.248:90 would be the web page... just in case your isp is blocking 80
