  1. just wondering where can i get a RS485 to rs232 converter for an avermedia pos box?
  2. http://arstechnica.com/open-source/news/2009/05/google-dailymotion-endorse-html-5-and-standards-based-video.ars Being a programmer myself the upcoming HTML5 standard seems pretty sweet!
  3. The thing with HTML5 compliance is you DON"T need any special plugins or activX controls.. there are video and media standards built into html5.. thus any browser that can render html5 will have these features.
  4. I have just upgraded to 7.5 from what came on the CD.. I was trying to get the java pda viewer to work... But now my 1 IP camera comes in "jarbled" and distorted on the main PC this is running on. All the regular cams work just fine. But another issue i just noticed is that when i play back footage... ALL the cameras play back jarbled... Yet when i remote view with IE.. the IP camera looks fine.. any ideas? I'm going to go back to 7.3 for now.. that worked. Or should i try off a fresh XP install in case something somewhere didn't get upgraded?

Anyone use the V3E POS ethernet based geovision?

bump... anyone? or should i just use the $400+ AVE txt inserter?
  13. Software should have come with the DVR card... what kind of DVR card is it? --
  14. I was just wondering if i could use video balun's with power AND use a POS txt inserter like AVE? but if i do i will need 2 pairs right?
  15. thanks... this is what i'm thinking now... DVR --> Regular Balun (no power) --> to AVE txt inserter (connected to POS) --> Now video Balun WITH power.. to camera.. and i'll power the upstairs cameras from where the POS computer is. Flow chart should be opposite of what i just listed.. now that i'm thinking about it. but it's late. Again they have all the cat5 already run and extra cables run to basement.. how does that sound?
  16. Thanks. Basically this restaurant/ bar that i'm going to do soon will have an Avermedia DVR in the basement office.. 2 stories up is where the bar is located at.. and currently his bartenders are obviously taking money/drinks So my issue is that it's kind of a long distance.. and there already is ethernet cables run to that floor. So using avermedias POS solution is out as i don't think they want to run several serial cables down. So i was also thinking of using geovision as their POS txt inserter can work over lan.. so that eliminates even more wiring... but i've never use geovision cards. OR just use a regular txt inserter like AVE with video blauns with power... My issue is they don't want to run any rg59 as they have ethernet cables pulled already.. just trying to think it out ahead of time.

I was thinking about updating one of my clients but have never done an IP system before... if i was going to switch his 6 camera system over.. Would i need just a PC, IP Software, Router, IP cams? Or do i have to have a DVR card? with 8 camera system dual core intel with 2 gigs ram ok?
