  1. My system is mainly to protect against vandalism rather than theft. With the prevalence of drones these days, I can't skip over protecting the roof with video coverage, but how? It's more difficult than perimeter coverage because: The cameras would have to be pointing up (e.g., pointing up the roof from gutters), rather than down, unless I attach them to the chimney. They're potentially uglier at the points where I'd need them for this, drawing the attention of the HOA enforcement borg. If pointed up, they might suffer sun damage. There's not really a pole separate from the house to use, though I did consider that solution - electricity and utilities are underground. Any ideas here? Semi-covert cameras for this application would be acceptable if it would lead to something less ugly. (For example, cameras disguised as something that's actually supposed to be on the roof.)
