Intellicam G4-400HPT and ISC-P540X Review
dopalgangr replied to dopalgangr's topic in Security Cameras
Just curious, did you remove the back and use the different dip switches on the cameras? That footage was straight outta the box, slightly focused(except to zoom it all the way out) and the factory defaults on the rest. I think if you fool with those switches or maybe the iris level you could get a better daytime picture?? Or call Mike at Shoreviewsecurity.com and he will know what to do. -
I saw these, seem interesting enough, however I heard you could draw a better picture than they can capture

Intellicam G4-400HPT and ISC-P540X Review
dopalgangr replied to dopalgangr's topic in Security Cameras
Glad to have been of assistance to everyone!! I'm going to be posting a more in-depth review on the P540 this weekend, that will include the camera at different focal lengths, accurate distance of IR illumination, as well as utilizing the manual switches built into the camera to get the best picture and anything else I can dream up . Should have it ready by Sunday I'm also going to be getting a couple of the PIX-D-5 dome cameras, the specs look good and will post a similar review when I get them. -
Just my two cents.. I bought one based on the quality of the recording, remote access not to big a deal for me, I would probably buy another and just come to face the fact that I will need a larger hard drive due to the motion masking issue. I am unsure why they dont have that built in, even my cheapo 4 channel dvr that I sold on Ebay to purchase this one had it?? I am going to write to them and request those changes.

Were you able to get any pics? What do you think of the night time quality? Thanks And thanks securitymonster too!!! -

Rory, how are you contacting them? Can you send me the contact info and I will send them my thoughts. I picked up one of these last week and although the quality is good on recording your right, the lack of motion masking is eating up my drive. I had two cameras on it over night at the least sensitive motion setting and it still recorded all night long?? They also need to increase the playback speed to 32x or 64x, the 16x limit takes forever, especially when the motion isn't working and you have to go through a whole night of video It has some pretty positive features outside of that though. I like how it automatically adds the codec and player software to the USB backup and other nuances. Here's a link to some captured video I took with it to review some cameras (I will be posting that this week sometime) The settings were kept at the default and the resolution set at D1/Best for each camera (by the way the cams were at the defaults as well). http://s285.photobucket.com/albums/ll42/Dopalgangr/Cameras/ Anyway let me know, maybe I can help with the SDK thing to.

help needed with 1304net backup
dopalgangr replied to acableconnection's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Make sure its formatted in FAT32 not NTFS as the DVR does not recognize NTFS. -
What type of device are you using for the USB backup? Thumb drive or hard drive? Either way make sure it is formatted in FAT32 NOT NTFS as the DVR will not recognize that (probably because it's Linux based). If your using a hard drive make sure that it doesn't need supplemental power to run it (especially a 5.25 disk), the port (although it runs mine fine) may not be able to power it. Dont know about the motion. As for the time it takes to back up, I move 100mb (got to be at least 15min of video) off of mine within 2 minutes, But I was using a USB 2.0 hard drive to back it too. Remember if you use a USB 1 or 1.1 device it will take hours instead of minutes, also some of those USB thumb drives have cheap memory in them thus have a slow write speed increasing the time it takes to send info to them. Hope this helped!! I extremely recommend using a Hard Drive over a thumb drive or flash disk when moving large amounts of data at a time.

Hows the picture at night? Do you have any sample video or stills? What kind of distance are you getting out of them? Thanks!! -
Yes, that is just a link off of Nuvico's site, I watched the two outside cams at night and they are not that great. Cant tell though if its the cams or the dvr. Just thought I would post it since everyone kept asking for video from those cameras
-
Heres a link that is a live feed that has alot of the Nuvico CB-SD3895-L cameras running. User name = user pwd = 000000 w506fbf(.)dvrhost(.)com:7000/viewn (dont forget to get rid of the parenthesis I cant post web pages until Tues) Now you can sit back and watch people do there laundry all day

Cory, would you recommend the 400HPT? Have you ever used the p540x, if so is it better in your opinion?

stripping of operating system to make it stable

One more idea, after you get it the way you want it, take an image of it using hard drive imaging software (Norton Ghost, Acronis, etc) that way if it goes teets up again you can just reapply the image and your up and running with out reinstalling every thing, however anything done to the pc after the image was taken will have to be reinstalled. And most of these will let you make an image to burn to a dvd and make it bootable so all you have to do is through it in and go Here is a free one if you dont want to buy it wwwxxclonecom (you will have to put the dots in I cant post sites yet) -
thats ok, I appreciate it anyway

-
