I sent an email to Dahua support, maybe they will sell me some?

Well, I never did get a chance to switch out those boards, but now that's its getting warmer I'm going to take down all my Dahuas and clean them and check them out. I have another one in the back that the top half of the IR's are starting to flicker in and out. Anyone know where you could buy (if they sell them) the IR board intact for a quick replacement? On a side note reading back through this thread saddens me to think that I wont here from Carl (Buellwinkle) again. At least he lives on through this forum and his blog, RIP buddy.

He will be missed I really enjoyed his reviews and he always got back to you when you had a question. I hope that he went in peace. RIP my friend.

Sorry for the late response on this. My IR started working again. Seems that it doesn't come on when then temp drops below 25F ??? All of my other ones work fine though at that temp and below. Any ideas?

I did and everything is set normally as the others. I've been using these for over a year and I'm very familiar with the settings. At first I thought it was due to the extreme cold temps here lately but none of the others are affected. I just need to wait until it warms up and swap out the boards and narrow it down more. Thanks.

Thanks for the post. The Poe switch is definately supplying enough power. I guess I will try swapping the board from a known good one and start there. I did come across MaxIcon's thread on replacing the ir's one the other model last week, nice write-up. I'm pretty good with a voltmeter and soldering gun if needed.

So I want to upgrade the IR's on a couple of my Acti-1231 cams (no other light source available at their locations). I purchase some IR replacements off flebay and noticed that the Acti IR have two sets of wires going to them. One set of two and one set of three, each having there own port on the board. All the ones that I purchased only have the one - two port connection. Does anyone know what the additional three port connection is for on the Acti original? Thanks

All, I have a used Hikvision DS-4008HCI card that I used in my system before I went to IP cameras. I purchased it new and it comes with DVR Pro software as well as Linovision software for Windows. I have 4 Acti ACM-1231's lightly used that I'm looking to sell if your interested. Like Kawboy12r said, they come with free recording NVR software.

So I went on the hype and got the 4 camera system from Costco. Except for frame rate when I compare it to my Acti ACM-1231's I don't really see that much difference. Of course the Acti has a much better Computar lens so maybe if it had a better lens?? I did use it with my Nuuo software NVR and it didn't auto recognize the camera but I could get it to work using the settings for the Dahua IPC-HFW3300C. I think I'm gonna take it back to Costco and wait for the better cameras to hopefully come out. BTW, I didn't get the free 8ch upgrade and as you can see from the picture either Q-See or Dahua's fix for the IR reflection off the sun shield was to take a back Sharpie marker to it. Doesn't show that on the Dahua website and I guess it works but still sub-par fix if you ask me.

If you wouldn't mind and have a chance, could you post a night shot pic from one so I can compare it to mine? That image has quite a lot of sharpening - too much for my taste. I don't know if you can adjust that in the setup, but I'd want to smooth it out a good bit if it were mine. Lots of modern cameras over-sharpen by default, and it really shows at night. I find it wipes out the detail, especially in low-contrast parts of the image. Thanks, I can adjust the sharpness. I had it at 192 and dropped it to 125. Cleaned it up a little. I also changed the AGC from 60 to 100 like buelwinkle said in his blog but the daytime picture was too washed out so I moved it back to 60.

Thought of something else. Besides the obvious of updating firmware, device packs, cleaning the lens, refocusing, etc. Is there any other routine maintenance that you would do on this specific model? I have had these up for about two years and it seems that the picture is a little grainier than I remember it when I first got them. Maybe its me and I'm just used to seeing the higher MP one out there on other systems, but is there any parts on these that degrade over time? Like the ccd or light gathering ability or something else?

I have a buddy that has a dome cam with built in IR illuminators. The IR works fine but that camera no longer reacts to it and is pitch black at night when before it would go BW and utilize the IR. Does anyone know what would cause this? CCD gone bad? The camera is a Gen IV AD-A480 I/R

Thanks Matt, I just found out that it is still under warranty and they are going to fix it for him. He may have the model number wrong but I did see that it had built in IR's so I would think it would have to be a day/night of some kind. Thanks again for the reply, I've posted a couple on here lately and wasnt getting any bites so I thought I might be getting the stink eye for some reason

Thanks for the post, yep power cycled and this camera has no built in OSD functions. I dont know what happens in these cams when the switch to night mode if its mechanical or something electrical in the chip. I had another brand a long time ago doing sorta the same thing but it was under warranty and I returned it and it was fixed by the manufacture.
