Pelco Sarix IDE20DN8-1
dopalgangr replied to Soundy's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It is. It has a default of 192.168.0.20 but it looks for a DHCP server and pulls and address from that, if it finds one. That doesn't work so well, though, when you're connecting it directly to the computer, or into a network that doesn't have a DHCP server. This is the stupid thing: EVERY. OTHER. IP. CAMERA. that I've worked with so far, has some sort of utility that communicates the camera, I assume via ICMP or other such protocol, that can find the camera and let you configure its IP, netmask and gateway, regardless of the subnet you or it are on, usually whether the camera already has an IP or not. The Pelco doesn't. Like most other Pelcos, it seems to be a camera designed by engineers who've never actually had to install a camera in the field. Soundy, give this a try, I use it all the time and it works well. You can easily set the range and find the stuff on the network. Scroll all the way down on the page and under free network utilities download Advanced IP Scanner v1.5. http://www.radmin.com/download/index.php -

Computar/Gantz MP1DN any good?
dopalgangr replied to dopalgangr's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well, all the cameras that I have now are Acti. I like the Arecont AV3130M but by the time I get the camera and buy 2- 1/2" lens it puts it out of my price range. I'm looking to add a fourth camera for the backyard and i'm leaning towards a dome to keep the enclosure size small, but I want one that will operate well in low light. I'm not familair with all of the other brands so I wanted to get your suggestions. Needs to be sub $500 range, have a small enclosure or be a dome, outdoor camera, be networkable with POE, and have at least 1.3mp sensor. I would just get another Acti ACM-1231 as it would probably fit the bill but I already have one and wanted to try something different. Any thoughts?? -

The Arecont av1305-AI has an auto iris but does anyone know if it is IR sensitive and go to B/W at night or would I have to get the day/night model to get that? -
Bump, still available, for those with license questions I contacted Luxriot and they released the license so that I may resell it. thanks

Best board camera for low light facial recognition
dopalgangr replied to dopalgangr's topic in Security Cameras
hmm, not bad. Any have any KT&C models that they like? Has anyone used the ones with the Sony super HAD 2 chips. Like this one http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=422 or this one http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=702 -
Well, I searched back to Feb and didn't see anything on this so here it goes. I have a application that requires a small board camera for concealment. I will be using a single channel DVR to record events at D1@30fps. I'm looking for the BEST board camera that will work in low light conditions and provide the clearest image and highest resolution for facial recognition. Could someone please give me their opinions with makes and models? BTW the camera will need to be able to capture a area of approx 10'x10' minimum. Thanks in advance.

The problem with all of those 1.3 MP cameras are they use a cheap cmos chip that sucks at night. I have the X-Driven, T-Eye, and some other knock-off and the day pictures and GPS are the only good thing about them. I then purchased a camera called the Dr.9 from longintech.com and it is very good at both day and night because it has a 1/3 ccd chip. You can even change lens on it. Check it out http://www.longintech.com/dr9.htm

Advice for a door camera please
dopalgangr replied to dz-015's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Well, while we are on this topic. What would the best board camera with highest resolution and low light capabilities be? I'm looking for one for another project that requires a small camera hooked to a DVR recording @30fps@D1 and need the best for facial recognition. Thanks!! -

Any experience with Gen IV Commercial-Class DVRs (G4-XLAHD)?
dopalgangr replied to SpyGuy10's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Ive used alot of various stand alone DVRs over the years, including big brands like GE, Everfocus, AvTech, Avermedia, Indigo, OEMed Eclipse CCTV Models, PowerTellecom OEM from Asia, various others .. but just havent found anything I can say I was impressed with yet .. the HDMI on the intellicam type DVR was moderately impressive but then how many clients have or will buy HDMI monitors for their DVR .. I dont know of any myself. The Indigo one currently using for example .. its moderately inexpensive and just works. remote video is high quality, but slow .. single stream .. same as recorded video. I mean when you sit down and think about it, I end up just going back to GeoVision .. even with its flaws and hassles of buying PC parts .. it works great and has all the features. Im looking at testing the Hikvison cards though, so can use it in Linux as eventually XP will be priced out of the market or hard to find, and I literally DETEST Windows 7! I have had great luck with the Hikvision cards and linux. I used the software (and they even sell the cards and their version of the card thats cheaper and comparable) this company provides http://www.linovision.com/ There NVR software even works with the card to make it a hybrid. So Spyguy, I dont know if Intellicam still does this (or their resellers) but they used to do a 30-day no questions asked return policy. Why not buy one and try it out. Like I had said before I was really happy with a three of the units that I had and found them really easy to setup and very stable.
