That might work for a Doll house but not yours. I have put those vents in numerous times. Just goto Home Depot or Lowes and pick one up. Carefully remove the shingles and cut out the pattern. Install and replace the shingles using lots of caulk to make sure its waterproof. I generally just hook the electric into the light in the attic. This is a easy thing to do and the whole process should only take you a couple of hours on the weekend. These pay off alot, especially if your area requires fire retardant underlayment for the roof. Most of the time it gets to hot and that causes the underlayment to "sweat" thus warping it and weakening the roof. Make sure you buy one with a thermostat so that it only runs when needed and saves electric. If you dont want to cut a hole in the roof then just get two of these greenhouse fans for the sides. http://www.littlegreenhouse.com/accessory/vent.shtml#16a

IP camera Software
dopalgangr replied to CCTV_Suppliers's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'm sure it wouldn't really matter as long as it worked. I just purchased Luxriot but I would have just as easily purchased a Linux or BSD based software if there was one available that supported all the cameras (or most) out there. I would even buy it if it was strictly running and configured by a remote web front end and the pc running it command line only. Once its up and running and you can just browse to the IP address for the rest of the setup. -
How to setup ACTI camera for different lighting conditions
dopalgangr replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Do you have a link to that pp i could use to download. I have several different model Acti that this may be useful for. Thanks -
All, I have a practically brand new Acti ACM-1231 camera that I purchased recently for a project. I want to trade it for a box style megapixel that I can put my own lens on. If you have one of equal value and would like to trade please let me know. This camera is still in the box with all docs. I mounted it then dismounted and only used it to post some comparision pics on this forum. Thanks.

hehe you're nick means DRUG Dealer where I come from, and now you want to push cameras!! hehe Where is the world going! JD Really Where I come from it means nothing as I made it up. Its actually a miss-spelling of the word doppelgänger that means a ghostly double of a living person that haunts its living counterpart . I'm not pushing anything, just seeing if anyone else was interested. I was not looking to make any profit just trying to be nice. Thats where the world is going when it comes to me and "where I come from" -

Ahh, the old Hikvision cam. I can get a hell of a price on that model if I get at least 10 of them, even better if I buy 100 of them Let me know who wants to go in on some . Theres also another model thats more expensive but I am unsure if it is acutally better or not since I have never purchased either of them. Its a DS-2CD862MF-E. -
QNAP VioStor Opinions?
dopalgangr replied to ini's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
This should go in the classifieds, but since the model is being talked about here I will just post it I have a 1231 thats practically brand new in the box, I mounted it and dont care for the view and pictures that i get from the stock lens. I think I will use a 5611 and my own lens in a enclosure instead. So if anyone is interested in trading a like new 1231 for a 5611 shoot me a pm. Thanks -
kn1ght77, check your PM's I believe that one is the best for the money. And they will deliver to you

I wanna buy it just because his name is Bruce Lee. Thats so cool!! -
All, I've searched the forum and couldn't really find anything recent on this. I need to install some of the below pictured style cameras outdoors (need to be this type for concealment purposes). I plan on using separate IR's but want the best low light capabilities. They need to be high res (over 540) with lux rating of .1 or lower, Dat/Night, Sony Exview CCD, weather proof, excellent quality, 3.9mm lens, and possibly have a built in IRC Filter. I'm sorta pressed for time on getting them so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Glen

Thanks Rory for the update. I'm gonna check those out as well.

Well if your gonna get a tower, why bother with the Atom at all? I would go with an Intel Core 2 in that setup. I was thinking you were looking at something with a very small form factor or even a netbook.

Mixture of IP Cameras
dopalgangr replied to Termite007's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Only if the NVR software you are using isnt compatable with all of them. If it is then it shouldn't be a problem -
I have not built one, but I can probably guess that it would not work that well. Those things are mediocre at best for just surfing the internet (Windows OS) Now if you could get a Linux viewer and put Ubuntu or Net-Linux on it, it just might be doable. However, like I said I'm not sure

IMHO starting with the least expensive I would say the AVerDiGi EB1304NET SATA Series is great for the money. Then the next step would be the JS-RT4 Economy Business Class Digital Video Recorder w/250Gb Hard Drive Both have some pretty great features and are around the same price. The Aver doesn't come with a hard drive and the JS-RT4 does. The JS-RT4 also has a 4yr warranty. Good Luck
