    Lighting

The b&W is an older Panasonic BP314 and the color is a Weldex 3585C, need more details? Actually while the Weldex did improve, my grass is now a really bright green. I have a Toshiba IK400 D&N next to it and the picture is much softer though more grainy also.
  2. I have a Pelco PTZ Spectra III Series DD53CBW camera and was wondering if I could operate it from my computer using an LC 485 converter and FreeviewPro S/W. The computer is remote from my DVR computer containing my I-View cards. I'm thinking the converter may have to work in conjunction with I-View, but who knows, maybe there is other S/W out there that would make this possible. Bill
  3. Thomas: Thanks, I'll give it a try and let you know... may take a while.
  4. I built my DVR PC about a month ago now and its been working great. Whenever I reboot it, it comes up fast and goes directly to my desktop. I came home from work today and there was a windows logon screen sitting there, I had to hit the user name box in order to get to the desktop. I can't seem to find how to turn this function off. The only changes I've been able to do is change it from the simple hit user option to the normal Windows logon screen that askes for a password. Anybody know how to turn this off, and how did it start all of a sudden? The last thing I did to the computer was last night, I installed an HP printer with the accompaning software.

Cannot Get Rid Of Login Screen

Thomas: Yes the user it installed was aspnet; I removed it and will not, like you suggest , try to revert back to a different net framework. I'll just live with the logon screen flashing during boot up.

Cannot Get Rid Of Login Screen

Thanks... I'm now able to logon automatically again. What I don't like it now, during reboot, I see the logon screen flash on the screen for an instant which I didn't have before. This all started after installing the S/W for an HP Photosmart printer. It installs some kind of Net user, updates MS Net Framework to ver 1.1 and adds 7 different programs to the startup folder. What bull****... I deleted the Net user as well as uninstalled all their S/W and the printer works fine. Let this be a reminder to set a restore point before installing any new S/W. I waited too long to troubleshoot the problem and could not do a restore. Now I'm going to try and find a way to revert back to the older version of Net Framework.
  8. I am a satisfied I-View user. I found a site with another brand of cards and S/W and was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this equipment. https://secure30.softcomca.com/fge_biz/vsmpurchase2.htm
  9. Hermin: I have 2.8e on the server only, didn't realize until our conversation that I needed the e version for FreeviewPro also. I'l lbe waiting for your link. Thanks for everyone's responses.
  10. Yes, I select individual cameras or all cameras and get the same response, no video clips... only searching by period. If I select all videos, it works correctly and includs the clips I tried selectying by any period I tried.
  11. Live video with select cameras checked is my default. When I drop down to remote playback, select cameras remains checked but is also greyed out so you cannot change it in this mode. After connecting I do have the option to select all or individual cameras.
  12. While on the subject of I-View playback... When I search remotely by period it always responds with no video clips. For instance, I just searched for clips after 2005/04/26 and receive the no clips message. Then I search by camera and all clips become available, even those created on 2005/04/26.... Any ideas, I can't see where I must set anything, the login I'm using has all functions allowed. Bill
  13. OK.... Just finished the design today for my new PC DVR. My last component is the monitor. For desk space consideration I will use an LCD. I searched the forum and fould a good bit of discussion, mostly on the shortcommings of inexpensive LCD's for CCTV applications. I culled my selections down to 3, all of which have, in addition to a normal VGA input, also have Digital Interfaces. Can someone shed some insight into the expected performance of these LCDs? I would specifically like to understand the digital interfaces they reference and also the contrast ratio, all 3 contrasts are different and range from 500, 600 and 800:1. http://www.monitoroutlet.com/476531.html Samsung 910T http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=50446498&pfp=SEARCH Viewsonic VG910B http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=311509&pfp=srch1 Viewsonic VX910 Thanks in advance Bill
  14. Hi all: Hermin or anyone else... I'm using an I-View card with WIndows XP. I have a friend interested and wanted him to access my site for a demo. I can asscess my site using FreeViewPro both on the same PC locally and remotely from work. In any event, I had my firend install FreeViewPro and he received an Open Database Error when he tried to start it. I had him install Access Runtime and he gets the same error. Any ideas? He's using XP also.
  15. OK, got it working, it was the SP1 fix that did it. Thanks
  16. I'm thinking about buying a new wireless router to use a PDA with my I-View, PC based DVR. I'm looking at Netgear's WPN824 54Mbps RangeMax and WGT624 108Mbps as well as Linksys' 54Mbps Wireless-G. Any opinions, and why would anybody continue to purchase a 54Mbps router when 108 is available for the same or even lower price. Finally, I have wireless telephones using 2.4 Ghz as well. Will a wireless router and my phones interfere with each other, my guess is they will? Billm

New System Design - Comments Welcomed

Rory, VST_Man: I can see this is going to take some time and thanks for the advice. I'll be looking into everything each of you said and will keep you informed on my progress. The only thing I'm sure of at this moment is burying cable is not an option. Thanks
  18. As I mentioned in the camera section, I said I would post a proposed system design here that’s meant to replace my existing antiquated video system. This was presented by my in-house security department and its taking forever to get them to move on it – in-house = 0 margin job so they have no incentive. So I thought I’d start looking into it myself, maybe find a better solution, obtain pricing and do it with my own people. In any event, your comments and suggestions are welcomed, pricing even if any dealers out there provide these items. New System proposed for: 61,000sf office space, with 6,000sf detached warehouse, <1000' line of site. My current Lan connectivity to warehouse is via a Roam About 2.4ghz wireless Lan with 11MB bandwidth, no cameras in warehouse now. Equipment proposed... American Dynamics Intellex LT qty 2 – I think its based on their 2.6 version S/W * see note Philips Indoor Fixed Camera LTC1461 qty 7 Philips Outdoor Fixed Camera LTC9450 qty 4 Philips Outdoor PTZ Camera G3T-2460-R qty 1 Trango Wireless Units Eagle Plus VTX2500 qty 2 Panasonic Network Cameras WV-NP472 qty 2 We’ll reuse about 9 existing cameras. *Note – The AM D60031S-048R-1 model DVRs were originally proposed but I understand AM has discontinued this for the Intellex models. I did mentioned this was in the works for awhile. Feel free to email as well if you prefer.

    TVL vs. LOR

This board is great, ask a question and get a whole lot of good information. Herminshs now has me leaning towards an I-View rather than Geo and Kaysadeya has me liking the Kodicom even more. Guess I have a whole lot of reasearch ahead of me. Also, partially what got me into this was that I'm involved with upgrading my office space with a new CCTV system. I have 9 cameras now with a multiplexer and time lapse recorder, I find it useless. I'll post the proposed design tomorrow in the design section and see if any one has any comments... better choice of equip, etc. Thanks again everyone.

    TVL vs. LOR

I'm in the process of designing a CCTV system for my home; not sure yet if I will use a PC or standalone DVR. If PC, its either going to be the Geovision or I-View board. In the meantime I'm testing cameras for the best possible picture. Can someone explain the difference between TVL and LOR. If a camara says its 570 TVL does it also mean its 570 LOR, I'm beginning to think not. Thnaks Bill
