Vpype is a Facebook program that allows you to stream live video on Facebook by utilizing your web cam. Is there a way to somehow capture live video from one of my GV cams and feed it to the Vpype program as if it was a webcam?

I sent them an email and this was their reply: Dear Sir, The CP-1404HS is our old model and stop production more than 3 years. So the software does not support this function. Our new model DVR card can support the iPhone and Blackberry remote viewing. If you have any further questions or if you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us. I'm trying to find a way to access my I-View PC DVR from my IPhone. The Safari browser does not support ActiveX so I cannot access I-View's EZWebServer. The Opera browser may soon be released by Apple and this may work, not sure. Anyone know of any other way to accomplish this? Thanks Bill

I'll get the info to you by examining the card. This is going to take a bit of time before I get a chance to open the PC. In the meantime here is their home page. They don't show the older boards I use, 1404HS. http://www.i-view.com.tw/ Maybe someone else viewing this message may know the manufacture of the I-View boards. I bought some of the boards I have through, I believe his name was Herman from this forum.

I'm hoping you can determine the manufacturer by these links to the H/W and S/W manuals so I don't have to pull the cards. The last thing I want to do is change the cards. Plan B would be to try and set up remote access on a Blackberry Bold that I also carry. Anyone know of a decent eyeglass / DRV combo that works well?

I have multiple PCs each with multiple monitors. I'm trying to figure out a way to input the video that's on each screen into a DVR card, in this case an I-View card. The intent is to remotely view all screens with a good clear image. Non of the monitors have a video out source so I'm lost. My only thought now is to use a VGA Y cable to give me a 2nd video out and find or make a cable to connect the VGA 15pin to a BNC connector for input to my card. Any suggestions? If the above is correct, any idea where I could get the pin outs to do this for both VGA and DVI? Thanks

I'm about to select a laptop for remote viewing and I was hoping to get some suggested models that some of the professional CCTV folks on the forum would find ideal. Mobility is not an issue as the laptop will remain mostly in one place so a larger unit with a 17" screen is preferred. My choices so far are maybe the.... HP Pavilion ZD8230US Noteboook http://pcworld.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=10233926 Dell Inspiron 9100 -although it has a 15.4" screen http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/hardware/notebooks/0,39001743,39018301p,00.htm? Any suggestions that you might place on your own wish list? Thanks Bill

Rory: That's an impressive laptop, never seen one like that before. Two drawbacks, price and 2.0GHZ chip.

Does anyone know of any DVR cards that allow for connecting IP Ccameras?
-
I just installed a NetCom board, NC-3213USB, in my I-View PC DVR and can operate a Pelco Spectra lll SE Series PTZ via rs485. My problem is trying to operate a Sensormatic / American Dynamics PTZ, RAS716LS, which operates via rs422, Sensornet or Manchester. I see in the Witness S/W that there is a Netcom option for BBV rs422 but I cannot get this camera to move. Is there something else I need, am I just doing something wrong or is I-View not able to support rs422? Any converters I should be looking into? Also, is it possible to use the I-View Witness S/W to incorporate an IP camera? What about other S/W or even boards to be able to operate both rs485, 422 and IP cameras in 1 package. Bill

Thanks for the reply. I did manage to get a 917 unit to work with I-View and gave up on the 716; I'll look into one of the converters you mentioned. Any info on getting an IP camera to work with I-View or are there any other DVR boards that will allow me to include IP cameras as part of the same site?

I installed an older Panasonic analog camcorder as a CCTV camera because I wanted to use the x16 capability to focus in from a long distance. I am quite happy with the results and want to possibly do something similar with a digital camcorder. Is it possible to connect the digital signal to an I-View card? What kind of conversion device would be needed?

I changed the resolution on a couple of my cameras from 320*240 to 640*480 but Witness keeps crashing, won't run more than 10 minutes before it crashes. I was initially able to set the video parameters back to 320*240 but then after some testing I found that no matter what I did I could not get Wintess to revert back to 320*240 until after I reloaded it. Any ideas why I can't set to a higher res. I could swear I had done this quite some time ago without a problem, not positive. I'll answer my own post... I looked at a few Digital camcorders at Circuit City and they all had analog outputs, too expensive though.

I'm ready to venture into the PDA phase of CCTV. I use I-View and saw in the forum where Hermin is using an IPAQ 6300. Herman, Rory, anyone.... Is this the recommended PDA to use with I-View or is there a better solution. Someone at work stated that there is a PDA with phone out there that can use any carrier's SIMM card. Anyone know anything about being able to use multiple SIMMs? As always, your responses are very much appreciated. Bill

Got the 730w working this weekend using Cingular GPRS service and I'm pretty impressed wit the VGA screen and all... it gives a very nice picture. Just have it working over the internet so now I guess I have to buy a wireless access point, any recommendations? Also, earlier in t the thread a FPS figure was given for I believe the Dell AXIM, how was that calculated or was it just an experienced guess. I'll post what I'm getting if I know how to interpret it. Bill

I found one, I'm on the phone now ordering it. ASUS 730W http://www.mobiletechreview.com/ASUS_A730W.htm

OK, changing direction once again. Now that I know I can access the Internet with just data service through the CF slot, the Siemens SX66 is out as well as any other PDA/Phone capable units, and the Dell X50v is my choice. I'm still looking though... I'd like to find one that has all the options of the Dell but also has a digital camera. Anyone know of any?

OK, Bob the B got me thinking about other than HP PDAs. Wanting more speed I chose to go with a 400 MHZ Siemens SX66, afterall I do work for Siemens. I want the faster chip because most viewing will be done via dial-up vs WIFI. Any reasons not to go this route? I'll report back on how it works with I-View when I'm able. Here's the specs... http://www.mobiletechreview.com/siemensSX66.htm

The 6340 sounds good but it doesn't seem to be available in the US, maybe that's why multiple simms can be used. I'm taking a seriuos look at the 6325 because the 6315 processor is only 168MHZ. Not sure yet what the 6325 is.

OK, I have the whole B&W vs, Color down now, so I thought. I wanted to experiment with lighting, the front of my house was lit with 2 75W incadesent bulbs. My B&W camera worked reasonably well but my color, not day and night, a Weldex 3585, faired poor at night. I changed to 2 100W flouresent bulbs and got a reasonable improvement with the color cam but the B&W lost some clarity. I can see father but the closer picture is not as detailed. Is this because B&W doesn't like flouresent or the area is now too bright? Bill

I'm all for it... something easy and I show you some pictures / clips of my new bird cam.

Rory: I'm having some difficulty uploading the images. If you send me a PM with your email address I'll send them along. Bill
