Jesus christ. The reason that they have those TV DEMOS is so that people can see in realtime what to expect in viewable fps rate, and the color quality of the picture, you have never been to their offices to really know if their logo is aqua green, but you damm sure as hell know that bart's head is yellow. First of all, don't call a product that you have actually never known or used a piece of SH*T. There is a couple of people here who have gotten the system that can tell you otherwise, so if you don't agree with something the way that is being shown, there are better and more proffesional ways to say it. That's why you test different systems before deciding what to use. I have tested and I can prove it, over 130 different DVR's, anywhere from stand alones, and DVR cards, and while I view may not be the best of the best, for the price and level of support that they give you, they sure as hell are one of the best overall that I have tested.

For example, both GEO and Witness use a bmp to "watermark" the video, is like the nuew hundred dollar bill, which if you look at it at an angle, and look at it's right side, you'll see fraklins face "watermarked" into the bill. same principle
-
Damm rory, where did you get that from? Yeah you could use video, only that it has to be watermarked, or digitally marked for protection against tampering.

I might be able to help you what model is it?

he got that to the point, just that it depends on what type of DVR card you get for the PC, the most famous, which you are going to be sseeing mewntioned a lot is GEOVISION. Personally, I sell the Witness, no problems with it whatsoever, plus there are plenty of other companies that make stand alone. Your best bet is to take the time to read thru the forum, and post any questions that you have, but educate yourself first, and we'll make sure that you make the right purchase for what you want to do hermin

Most defenetly Thank you from me and my family, without heroes like you, This great country could never make it.

Hello. Well, first thing is that if you are planning on using a PC based DVR, then you are going to need a PC just for that. You really cannot use your personal computer to use as a security system. The best way to tell you what types of cameras to use would be to post pictures of the areas where you would like the cameras to see, so this way, we can recommend what type of cameras to use. And last but not least, what kind of budget you are looking at? This way we know what to recommend to you that's not out of your price range. Hermin

Well, then you REALLY don't want to catch that thief then now, do you?
-
Well, that depends, the card itself goes for 499.99, (16 CH 599.99) Then it depends on what specs you want to use for the pc an interesting fact is that I was able, just for the hell of it, use an Athlon 64 based system, and the darn thing still working with no problems!!, Although it's been only 2 days, but after 14, I'm going to certify that it'll work with Athlon 64, as opose to a more expensive P4 solution. If you are interested, we do sell systems (p4 based) already set to go with everything included.

Another satisfied customer Well, a lot of people still think that GEO is the best thing out there, but at least I have testimony from someone saying that there is a better alternative. Geo is too confusing for just anyone, plus they are too expensive and the quality is not all hipped up as it seems. I'm not saying that the Witness DVR is the best in the world, but when it comes to features and simplicity of use, plus stability and realibility, there is, my personal opinion, nothing better for the price. Thanks for the feedback!!!!

I looked at it yesterday, interesting, I hope the state department doesn't get a wiff on this.

man, why you people make it so hard. Look, if it's a 4 camera system, get a quad, then install a video modulator on the main line of the cable, and set it, let's say for channel 3 or 4, and what you do is take the camera lines coming into the dvr, split them with a "BNC T" connector, run one wire to the dvr, and one to the quad. If it's more, pick up a cheap 9 ch Multiplexer from eBay, and do the same. I mean, if all you want to do is see what's going on, not starting to look for videos, and check different cameras, this is a good way, because what I see that no one here is saying telling you that the quality of the image is not going to be that great.
-
Well, I used to use a company called alnet, and I did use a nokia phone to view the cameras, it's kinda cool, but SLOWWWWW.
-
Rory uses them, he can give you all the info that you need.

It is illegal to record anyones conversation, expecially thru cameras, without their consent. I stay away from it, knowing a installer that got in serious problems for installing a audio camera that was being used in a grocery store. 1 year jail time, plus a VERY hefty fine. If I was you, I'll stay away from it. read it yourself from the library of congress website: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/cpquery/T?&report=hr162&dbname=cp105&
