Pelco? I am always hearing horror stories about those, as far as I know, the only thing PELCO makes that is worthwhile is the spectra domes.

Well, there is a lot of personal history with them, really nothing to do with work or cameras or anything in that sense. Let's just say that not too long ago, they created a personal tragedy for me and my family, and I'm not talking about money. So I stick to what I say, but emphasizing that I am talking about the actual company, not any human being there. I don't wish any harm on anyone there in particular, and I sincerely hope that everyone there is safe and in good health, all of those houses and what not are all material things that can be replaced, it will take a lot of effort and time, but they can be replaced, but a human life is something that no matter what, one cannot.

Oh man, I am so sorry to hear that, they probably just don't have any power and can't get in touch with someone. I honestly cannot say that I would be sad if CCTVIMPORTS didn't make it. I got, let's say a personal things with them.

Guys, I was watching the Dateline thing about the New Orleans and Missisipi disaster. I think that we should do something to help out, dunno, maybe donate some time, or whatever, I'm open to suggestions.

Honestly, you don't want I-VIEW for a POS application, they don't have an actual hardware box, but something more like a .dll file, that the POS software vendor must write into the POS software.

Data man, That thing looks like a pain in the ass just looking at it

Can anyone identify this DVR software?

Dude, why not install an antivirus? if the PC is going to be online, at least the minimum protection is warranted. -
Pico 2000 uses 100 percent of my CPU
qman replied to benhenny's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
That card is carp, period. Even the less expensive DVR cards do not use the amount of CPU power as this cards do. Well, it is a rule of thumb if that using a PC as a DVR, you need to leave that PC as a DVR and nothing else. Your solution is to get a reliable name brand one. -

How about cctvimports? big nice booth, but I didn't see anyone really talking to them The one that suprised me was ALTRONIX. Very nice booth, and how about Northern Video? they had a damm basketball court thing, and a bar for free drinks!!!(or was that tri-ed?) Maybe lowering prices would be a hell of a lot better than spending all this money on bull**** like this.

Intermittent transmission problems
qman replied to chewingyu's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Honestly, I would just rewire the whole thing with either CAT5 using active balums, or run new RG wire, straight, with no joints. At this point, no matter what you do, the problem is that the joints, if using BNC twistons, which I suspect, will rust out the brading over time, and you will have the same problem again. Fiber is a costly solution, but I really don't see where you have much of a choice. The best thing to do is to just call someone else to do the job if you are unsatisfied with the work that they have done. -
CCTV for a school. In over my head. Please HELP! Toronto
qman replied to Juke's topic in System Design
Just got to remember one thing, if you choose to go with BOX type cameras, then you need to also consider what kind of housing you are going to put them in, or your students will take it down real easy. On the recorded side, how much time are you looking to record? and how many frames per second are you looking at?
