I have a problem with a home CCTV system. I used to work in CCTV / Designer. I have 4 cameras. 1 is connected by cable ant 2 are connected by powerline adapters. The problem is if I connect a third powerline adapter the all go off. Some sort of cross talk problem I believe. How do you guys do this with lots of cameras or are they all connected by cable. In a large complex environment, it would be difficult to cable all the cameras. Hopfully you have all the answere's!

The ones I am using is TP link. They don't seem to have an IP address but I will look. I have TP-Link TL-PA717 but these 2 devices do not use the internet. They are hard wired to the CCTV camera and the other hard wired to the recorder. What is the IP address to do with this? Communication of a powerline adapter is through powerlnes not through WI-FI.

Hi. Thank you for your previouse help with powerline connections. As stated in that I do have a HiLook NVR but acording to the manual I can get email notifications and remote view using by http::/< ip address of NVR>. However it does not have an IP address label on it. I am wondering if you can point me in the (UK) direction of a resonably priced NVR that does both emails and remote viewing. I would even like remote reording on a PC if tyhat were possible with web browser extensions or apps. Ta Paul.

I bought a home CCTV system last year. HI-Look. Did ask for help and was even advised that it is not supposed to be used in this county, but I see now balloons overhead. If anyone knows anything about this, can they help me with the email setup. It is supposed to send me an email if someone breaks in. Personally, I would have preferred an SMS though. I am attaching a screen shot of the questions it is asking. I do not understand Select receiver I seem to have a choice of 1,2 and 3. What does it require for receiver? I get a pop-up keyboard here. P.S. I have also sent an email to easyspace, my email provider also.

Hi. I am a private individual and felt the need to get a CCTV system at a reasonable price. I got a HiLook. I was told that these are banned Chinese systems but I doubt the Chinese would be interested in me or fly a balloon over my house. I used to be involved in the development lab designing system in the 190s so I new I could put this together. I do have a problem with it. How do I back it up onto a memory stick and what format would it be. Presumably MP4. I have looked at the manual but all there is a small section on their page 13 and 14 of the manual. It states that you put the stick into the USB port but that is used for the mouse. I can put a multiway USB into it and put them both in. The manual says click [X] but there is no [X]. I found that I could click on the scissors and move along and click again. I get the save option. Now there is a MS style window Called Export with a choice of Video and log or Player. This is as far as I can go with this as I don’t understand the options. Can someone advise me please. I feel I can do this with a little help. I realise you guys won't touch these with a bargepole but you may have had some experiance with them.

Hi. I have got a PLA but I was wondering if I can have more than one pair. Any help on this?

Hi. I am looking for a good NVR IP recorder that allows email alarms sent and if possible remote viewing. Any recomendations?
-
I still could do wth a NVR that would allow remote viewing and email alarms. Would be thinking that something like that should not cost more than £200 for the NVR only.

Can anyone help in this email setup please?

I have spent about £500 on 1 camera and recorder up to now. I Can get a second camera with a power assisted connection. I have talked to cctvkit.co.uk and for £100 I can add a second. I am mainly interested in the NVR and the email here. This is a home use only system.

Sorry for not getting back to anyone here but I am still trying to get to grips with this. To use SMTP you'll need the username & password of that email account to send from. The from is the NVR. It's the to is mine. I have a sender and a sender address. Is this the email address of the NVR? It does not have an email address I am asuming receiver 1,2,3 is for sending up to 3 emails to diffrent email address's This is waht have now.

putting it in a box will make it worse as heat generated by the camera would add to it. I had a problem a few years ago in putting a camera inside a nuclear power plant. Not easy.

Hi. I bought a CCTV system last year (HiLook). I was told that these were banned in the UK because of Chinese involvement. But as this is for a basic home use it works for me. I was looking for an additional camera to add. I found myself on a website for Basecom. I was surprised to find that you can get powerline cameras. I asked them about getting one and was told that their power line cameras were not compatible with my system. But if the output of a power line receiver is a standard CCTV cat5 cable I would have assumed that it would be a simple matter of connecting up. Am I wrong in this? Are the cables all different? I also realise that I would have to supply the 12V myself. I only want a second camera and a power line one would be great.

Thanks for that. I suspected it. Thanks Paul.

Hi. I know that this is a lower end CCTV, but I am a home user on a tight budget. There are some issues which you might know about.1) I set the time on the system (currently: 17:50). I have only 1 camera attached and on a PC monitor it displays 18:50. The time on the camera is 1 hour more. This can't be right. It would not stand up in a court of law.2) I have tried to set some small recording skedules each over a period of 5 minutes. Should I not see a list of recordings when I go into admin? When I click on rexordings, I see a time line under the camera on the bottom of the monitor with a few red markers along the time line.I will contact rthem tommorow about this but I would like to here from you guys first.

Hi Thanks. I did look into this and asked another forum prior to getting it and asked for a better make. I have gone to settings in main configuration and set the date and time their. I have not seen a seperate time for a camera. When you say troublesome are you talking about hikvision or the brand hikvision? I could do with seing if I can return it and get a better one. Also, I have got recordings on the HDD but I was under the impression I could copy these to a USB for showing to the police etc. This is esential to me. Also "nvr ….. menu … edit camera" and "switch off time display" can't see this anywhere. I am new to this CCTV thing. Used to work in a design lab back in the 1990s. Model is: NVR-104MH-C/4P(B)

Hi. I have been looking at a CCTV system on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/SANNCE-Wireless-Recorder-Security-Wheather/dp/B06VTHXDY7/ref=sr_1_omk_4?crid=2RIFGGJKKHWBD&keywords=wireless+cctv&qid=1666423416&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI2LjUzIiwicXNhIjoiNi41MCIsInFzcCI6IjUuODIifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=wireless+cctv%2Caps%2C95&sr=8-4 What I was thinking was, if I bought 2 of these, I would have 8 cameras. I would also have 2 recorders. So if a burglar decided to steel the recorder having seen the cameras (inside), there would be a second recorder. A backup. I would imagine that each recorder would not know or care about the other. I would get 2 emails instead of one. SECOND. If I am looking at it remotely on a laptop, would it be easy to recorded the incident on the laptop or is it for viewing purposes on a web browser. I just want to be ULTRA SECURE. Thanks. Desmond.

This one has audio and uses an ethernet cable to the recorder. Supplies power as well. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Megapixels-Security-Professional-Ethernet-Smartphone/dp/B01F4PQQYE/ref=sr_1_18_sspa?keywords=Best+Home+CCTV+System&qid=1666510129&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI2LjAxIiwicXNhIjoiNS43MCIsInFzcCI6IjQuMjkifQ%3D%3D&sr=8-18-spons&psc=1 Only needs one connection. Just need to buy a long cable.

Hi. Thanks for that. I thought in the days of super fast broadband that would work, but it is the WI-FI side that lets you down. I would like to secure with 3 internal cameras and one external. When I go into pubs, I see a very small blue dome. I liked these as inside a home the large cameras are not only visible, I would like them to be more covert. The idea of having 2 recorders is a backup in case a burglar saw them and decided to steel the evidence. I would have liked an email or SMS to inform me if I was away and maybe some way of recording at a distance. The at a distance would not be necessary if there was a backup and a more hidden camera even better. Can you suggest a better system for me please as you are very knowledgeable. Thank you. P.S. I don't want to spend a fortune on my flat. I don't have a Vincent van Gogh or a Leonardo da Vinci. But I would like to make it discreetly secure.
