    Avigilon Trial

All the cameras except one of the KCM series cameras appear twice, ending in 1 and 2. I've put the ones with stream 1 into a folder so its easier to manage, the software is great but it's a shame they don't support these cameras
  2. I've got 8 Axis IP cameras and am looking for new recording software as I'm not happy with Axis Camera Companion. Been using ExacqVision and I like it but thought I should try Avigilon before I go ahead. Is there a trial version available and how do I get it? Is there any major differences between the 2?

    Avigilon Trial

I don't know if it'd be switching between the 2 different streams since they seem to appear as 2 separate cameras? And both were being recorded until I edited the schedule... I've got the M3007 mounted on the ceiling in the middle of a retail store so I can get a Front and Rear view but this won't be possible with Avigilon it seems, quite surprising that they don't support the Views and Dewarping

    Avigilon Trial

Got it all working now The big problem is that Avigilon doesn't support Axis M3007 360 Camera, so I can't see the individual views, just the 360 image! Im trying it at home as well and it doesn't support any of my 7 Acti cameras (E76, E74, E76, E46), I've got them all working with ONVIF but by default Acti camera's give 2 streams which can't be turned off so every camera has 2 streams which is annoying. Avigilon also seems a bit more resource heavy over Exacq. Both have pros and cons, if only Exacq was the same price as Avignon!

    Avigilon Trial

Im trying to add Axis cameras but Avignon keeps telling me i've got the wrong username/password, its saying this on all of the cameras, even tried creating new users in the Axis web setup EDIT: When i searched for the cameras manually and specified it as Axis it works, by default it was finding them all as ONVIF

    Avigilon Trial

Thanks Can you PM me pricing for Core? I know Exacq is 150 + 25 yearly so need to compare that too
  7. Is there any newer cameras from Acti with the same low light performance as the 5611? Since its a pretty old model now, i would've thought theres some new models with even better performance?
  8. I got an KCM-5611 this week and have been very pleased with the overall image quality of this camera. I've read online that this camera has a larger sensor which makes it so good, but when comparing specs on other Acti cameras it doesn't say what the size of the sensor is, which makes it hard to know what quality to expect My question is, are there other cameras Acti makes with equal or better image quality than the KCM-5611? Perhaps a dome? I don't really need the zoom functionality, just need the best image quality and low light performance
  9. I'm looking at installing 8 Dome IR cameras around the house. ACTi seems to have the right cameras t good prices but I'm really confused about which one to get! Low light performance is crucial as there are a lot of areas with little or no light. After looking at some of the reviews I'm a bit concerned about the bright ring of light when the IR is on at night Does anyone have any experience with these cameras? Any help or recommendations appreciated! Thanks in advance
  10. Thanks for the reply. I'm not too worried about the difference in megapixels, its more about the overall clarity of the image especially in low light. I saw all your reviews and also the one about the KCM-5611 which seems like the best out of the lot. Would you perhaps recommend a combination of KCM-5611s for the driveway and E84s for an overview shot? I need to install these asap so can't really wait

    Real Time at D1 Resolution

Hi, I cant find any information or reseller for this on google and it doesnt seem to be available in NZ. What about Geovision? Is there anything better than geovision.

    Real Time at D1 Resolution

Hi, I have a client who currently has 3x 16ch Tibet Magic Radar DVRs and one Geovision GV2008 8ch DVR. They want to upgrade this system to something that records full frames (30fps) at D1 res. They want 64 channels on a common platform. So far i've thought of putting in 3x Geovision DVRs each with 2xGV2008 cards and putting in another GV2008 card into the existing DVR. This is for a large supermarket, they dont have any PTZ but may get 3-4 ptz and want capacity for upto 6 ip/megapixel channels in the future. Is this a good option? What specs would you recommend on each of the dvrs having 2xgv2008. And lastly what is the difference in having something like a Geovision GV2008 DVR (which i think is pretty high-end) and one of those really expensive DVRs like Dallmier or Dedicated Micros. These seem to have lowers res/fps and higher prices.
  13. Hi Guys, I am running a Geovision DVR with 1x GV2008, it does 8 channels at D1 res. and 25 fps. Running very well, very clear footage compared to any other dvr i've seen. Software is excellent, tons of features and analytics. I'm going to put in another GV2008 so i'll get 16 analogue channels and with 8.3 i'll get another 16 IP Cameras using a nvr dongle. So i get 32 channels in one dvr. Before i upgrade i want to know, is this still the best card out there. What do you think, who do you prefer, who do you think offers better quality. Thank you in advance for your contributions.

    Video Encoder

Hi, I need some advise regrding a site that i am upgrading, they currently have 64 analogue cameras. The dvrs currently used are of very low spec. I have though of two options. Please comment on which one would provide better quality video and any other advantages: 1) 4 New DVRS with 2xGV2008 in each, will provide 25 fps per channel at D1 resolution. I think this will provide good footage, and software is powerful with many features, though will work out quite expensive. Also leaves me the option of adding more ip/megapixel cameras to the same dvrs in future. 2) Use 16x Avigilon 4 Channel Analogue Encoders. Can be rackmounted (3 per rack). These will take the analogue signal and convert it into ip and give each input an ip address. The encoder will also provide 25 fps at full resolution. Also supports PTZ control. One NVR would be setup with Avigilon Control Center software, since each encoder is regarded as one ip channel i would only need 16 licenses. I have heard the software is quite good as well. Also leaves me the option of adding more ip/megapixel cameras to the same dvrs in future.
  15. Hi, Has anyone heard of the CCTV manufacturer iGaurd (www.igaurd.com.tw) Their advert often appears on this site, the make megapixel cameras, dvr, capture cards, and analogue cameras.
  16. Hi, I am building a new DVR using a Geovision 2008 card. Would you recommend any changes or does it seem fine, i am building this my self. Which case should i use, i cant seem to find a DVR Rackmount Case. I am using these specs: Intel Core 2 Quad Processor 2.660Ghz LGA775 8M Cache 1066FSB #Q6700 Kingston Hyper X 4GB 1066MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL5 (5-5-5-15) DIMM (Kit of 2) Asus P5KPL-CM Motherboard Western Digital Black Caviar 1000GB (1TB) SATA 3 Gb/s 7200RPM 32MB Cache Microsoft Windows XP Home OEM - 1Pk (would you recommend pro) LG DVDRW Combo Optical Drive Asus EN660GT/TD/128M/A (old one i had sitting around, will upgrade to a 9400gt if required) GeoVision GV2008 240fps 8 Cam Capture Card
  17. So whats the difference between Arecont and Computar/Ganz, they have the same cameras on their websites.
  18. Hi, Can someone please confirm if the Geovision 2008 can record 8 analogue cameras and 8 ip cameras together. (im guessing this is called hybrid dvr) I believe this is a software feature in Geo 8.2 which allows you to record cameras from the capture card and record ip cameras at the same time. Although it is not clearly written anywhere. Can some one please confirm this please???

    the best dvr

Hi, This may sound a little crazy but can some one please answer my quuestions. I've been wondering about these from a long time. 1. Is there any DVR/DVR Card in the world which can record higher resolution than D1. Something around 1280x1024. 2. Most security camera have ultra clarity when plugged directly into a TV, but when plugged and recorded in a dvr why does the quality drop so much. Is there anyway to overcome this and record footage just as it would appear on a TV. 3. I was considering a GV-2008. To be put into a supermarket . Main activity is in the grocery aisles between 7am to 9pm. I want the very best footage so that its actually worth puting so many cameras and police can easily identify shoplifters. I am looking at 30 fps on each channel at full D1 resolution. I would like the recording to be held for atleast 3 weeks. Would 5 terabytes do the job? I was thinking of getting 5x 1 TB drives and putting them into RAID 5. But i've read somewhere that this may cause problems in terms of a disk failure, it said that if one disk failed than there is a good chance of all others failing in a chain due to read failure when they a trying to rebuild after the first failure. Lastly is Geovision ok with RAID or should I just stick to putting 5x 1tb hdd independently.

    the best dvr

Hi, I have learned about Megapixel IP Cameras, definetly HD. There are IP megapixel cameras which produce higher quality than 1080i. The best i've seen is the 16Megapixel Avigilon Pro IP Cam. IQ Invision is also good

    GV-1480 Specs confirmation

Hi, Can someone please confirm the following about the GV-1480 card. The card can record 16 channels at 25/30 frames each at D1 or 4CIF quality If this card can not is it possible with another card. I have seen different cards advertised as "16 channels- 480 fps at 4CIF" Would this provide really high quality video. I have 540 TVL cameras but there is no point of those until the DVR can actually record at the same resolution? From what i understand: When we connect a 540 TVL camera directly to a monitor we see very clear quality video. This is because the monitor is showing the full resolution. But when we connect the same camera to a DVR, the video is digitised. Computers usually digitise using CIF format which degrades the video quality. Unless the DVR is of very high spec and can record at the same 540TVL resolution we will not be able to record the same quality as the monitor. Is compression also a factor? Does it degrade video quality and is there any way to overcome this? I may be wrong so please correct me. Is it currently possible to record 16 channels at near DVD quality on full frame rate in todays date

    New Geovision System

hi, i checked out the existing tibet dvrs. they are 100fps models and the highest resoulution is 768x576 at 4-5 fps. I guess a higher framerate would not really make picture quality higher. I tried putting the the framerate to 21fps by turning all other cams off but still it did not make too much of a difference to the video quality. I want the GV system to produce very clear footage but i guess it will be the same as the Tibet system. Since only the frame rate will go higher, resoulution will be same in both dvrs. Am i right? Currently the camera are mostly very good and high res with good lenses. Is it possible to get crystal clear video near DVD quality with any DVR. In the DVR the video is out of focus and blured. Could this be because of Tibet DVRs commpression type and codecs?

    New Geovision System

Hi, I am the newbie and wanting to design my own Geovision DVR. I want really good quality footage and a high frame rate. Please help me with the specs i should use. This is what im using but please comment if you think i should change anything. Intel Core 2 Quad Processor 2.660Ghz LGA775 8M Cache 1066FSB #Q6700 (Or whatever you suggest, dont want to spend more than this) 2 x 1Gb DDR2-800 Corsair XMS2 *XMS2-6400 *5-5-5-12 *Matched pair with Heat Spreader Ram Asus or Gigabyte motherboard (With 3 to 4 PCI slots, please advise the latest stuff but it should be mid range- not too expensive) 2x Western Digital Caviar SE 500GB SATA II 7200RPM 8MB Cache - AV Edition (I want to hold about 2 weeks with 16 cams on full resolution and frame rate) Asus 8500GT Magic Silent 512MB PCI-E Video Card HDTV 1X DVI-I Standard ATX Case with 2 fans Lite-On or LG DVDRW Geovision GV-1480 DVR Card 480fps Please advise if the full 480/400 fps is achievable at full resolution 720x576 This system is for a large supermarket with 2x Magic Radar 16 cam systems and 1x 12cam system. Those DVRs are hopeless, the quality is very low and frame rate is about 7fps. Also, if i have chosen too high end then please also tell me, i dont know much about the requirements of GV. All comments and suggestion welcome. Thank You in advance
