I have tested some ACTi 1.3 Mpix cameras. Image quality is OK. ACTi NVR has horrible usability. I have given ACTi my feedback, and they say they will work on it. Both ACTi and AXIS cameras have the same problem with the internal real-time clock not being able to keep real time when unplugged. NTP is required. Otherwise the ACTi NVR isn't able to record properly. In ACTi NVR, there is no way to export video with the time stamp overlayed in it. I do like the lossless AVI export though.

ok thanks. will check. if it is non-transcoding, then I would expect it to be lossless, and not take much CPU time. OK. This I understand. One-time lossy MPEG compression is fine. I was concerned about generational-loss due to a second-round of lossy-compression, and the fact that it is slow. OK. Thanks.

I have always thought it would be useful for CCTV companies to simply post their recorded videos for potential customers to view. They could specify whatever DVR and compression settings were used. Length and type of cable used, composite-over-coax or S-Video. Show some resolution-test targets in the video. Deluxecctv, any chance you can post such a sample video clip?
