Lots or Problems with Kodicom KMC-4400, almost there!
MamBo replied to afeudale's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
in my practice with amd works only 4.11 (with drivers dated 2002 if I remember right). I was unable to get 4.12 working. 4.13 works ok on intel mashines, but there are no picture on AMD's (there are only picture in motion calibration setup mode) -

Not familiar with I-view. But the cheapest and simplest solution for this problem is to make this thing yourself If I-view can trigger controls at specific times, that: 1) took simple relay 2) take electromagnet or even better electronic lock (I think this thing is called electronic lock you know.. the thingy that is used in all card entrance and similar system: if you get signal it’s locket if – not open 3) Install everything if you don’t have possibility to trigger controls at specified time – you can use hardware timers. Just not sure how to cheaply an in humane way solve problems of locked people overnight or someone leaving something between the doors to prevent them from closing.

on P4 motherboard there no sensors in the socket. Socket sensors became absolete when they were i ncorporated in the die.

how many cameras, or any other electronics do you saw made not in china latelly ? china can produce state of the art electronics and also they can produce total garbage. everyting depends on to things: 1) from whom you are buying 2) the price you are paying.

Yes, Torture works best for heating up the CPU or you can do the "regular" calculations if your PC is connected to the net. Just watch your CPU temperature rising... (it can get up to two times the idle temp and if you get yellow icon flashing - you pushed your CPU a little bit to high About cooling: your CU Zelman is on the better side in cooler herarchy. just disable all temperature probes and run it at full speed (12V) If your computer will be sitting in the basements I don't think noise will be an issue P.S. there is one more sensitive part of your PC you should be look after: your HDD: if you have an array and no active cooling you may damage your HDD (I saw too many overheated HDD in last couple years...) P.P.S there 3 major sources of the Heat in PC: GPU, CPU and HDD (my kodicom can get pritty hot also but it still less than these three)

beeing an old school overcloker I know a little bit about heat: 1) all temperatures you see should be the same: they came from CPU thermal sensor 2) sitting in bios = idle. just bootup process generates some hear. 3) if you are planning to yous yoru PC for DVR - it woun't be idle some advide: add couple case fans. if you overcloking add REAL cpu cooler (the boxed one from intel is very good for regular use, but not that impressive for overcloking) get prime95 from the net and check if your system really is working correctly and how got it gets on "full load" P.S. for 24/7 application overclocing usualy not worth it check your real gains (say comparing times of divx of at least mp3 encoding

if motors and electronic is working - even without camera and enclusure is worth more. P.S. power consumption is a little to high: 19W

I'm not a pro in this field, and I'm not familiar with this unit, but... from the description it looks like pace of crap: First thing I don't like about this system: recording only 50 FPS total. it's way too low for 16 cams. and 480fps for live viewing means nothing in your case. then cameras.. they also don't look decent: there are almoust no spec. stated. and price.. you can't get anything decent with 16 cameras for 2000$ IMHO in your case you need 8 cameras at most (IMHO 4 would do the trick). buy 4 good day/night cameras (B/W could do the trick also ), 4 or 8 channel DVR, mount cameras covering main points of entrance. Make them invisible: anyone with flashlight could blind even the best camera… if they know that no-one is monitoring them and they know where camera sits Just be prepared to drop 1200$-2000$ for DVR unit, and 150$-500$ for each camera. Or you can do it “the poor man wayâ€
