The broke-down retired MSgt 2891 thanks you all. This is for a state DOT. Just getting info for now since the state claims we are broke. VST_Man, that $60 a month deal sounds pretty awesome compared to what we are paying for ISDN at a few sites where we do not have fiber.

We have a camera trailer we have built from a salvaged sign trailer. Right now we can take it to a site where the site camera has gone down, plug it into the cabinet and xmt/rcv video and ptz through the site camera fiber equipment. We will be adding solar panels so that we will not be restricted to ac sources and would like to be free from fiber as well. Since the area we cover is quite large (metroplex) with hills, trees, city buildings, etc., los radios are out. Has anyone here tried or used satellite for ptz/video xmt/rcv? How was the bandwidth? As long as I'm asking for pie, are there any equipment providers that also include gps since I'd hate for our trailer to be stolen?
  3. We use both Meridian and IFS modems to xmt/rcv video and relay PTZ - usually by RS232 which necessitates a 485/232 converter at the camera end. IFS and Meridian also make modems that can do everything by 485 as well. It isn't difficult. Just follow the appropriate wiring instructions.

    PTZ using wireless

Should have probably added that we aren't looking for new cameras; just new ways of getting video from and ptz to what we have.

    PTZ using wireless

Radio cameras are the entire reason I joined this forum. My most unfavorite problem children. I'm looking for alternatives to what we are currently using for video & PTZ rcv/xmt. I'll check out the Sony stuff jeffwells listed but would like more options. We have trees, wind, and lightning. Would like digital. Any recs?
  6. Might also see if stop commands are getting to the cameras. Have seen that with Ademco (now Honeywell) cameras. Fix? Antenna realignment. If you're lucky. Hope some of the other suggestions work for you first.
