  1. I have a requirement for a CCTV system to be used as a training tool in a health care facility. They want to use a DVR to record audio, video and be able to switch on recording at will from 4 locations. I got 3 fixed and 2 PTZ cameras as well as LouRou mics. My issue is with the recommended DVR from my rep. They recommend the AL405 which is the 4 channel version of the 8 that the op has in this thread. Can I expect below par recording with this DVR? I never bought a Nuvico DVR before. I've purchased 4 of their cameras and sent them all back because I thought they had poor quality. Wondering if the DVR would be the same. I would recomment them a MP system for the training department but they will need a full 30FPS recording in full res. Told them to not expect a hightech recording system here if there using a CCTV system like this. They want good quality Audio and Video recording.
  2. I guess his ? is if we can run main Apps as windows service ? which if i remember NUUO cannot ? Yes, this is what I am getting at. If it can run as a service when the console is not needed it would then use much less resources. I find the CPU usage is high and overall system performance lags because the console has to run.
  3. Can you let us know what changes you had to make in order to get an improved image? Thanks I already stated it. During playback I just switched the de-interlacing properties on. There are two settings for de-interlacing (1 or 2) and just try them both and use the one that works best for you. I'm still not totally satisfied with the playback image. I still find it to have a bunch of interlacing problems but the improvement to the image I had is is huge. Hopefully they improve on the playback quality some more in the next firmware release. Last release was in November so hopfully a new version of firmware will come out in February or so.
  4. You know it makes life that much more difficult when more and more people are getting mac's these days. Some customers have both a mac and a pc which makes it even harder when they ask will this system work on both my mac and the pc. WHY can't companies make their systems compatible on both. I got an acti camera streaming and the friends who have ie on there PC enjoy it and those on a mac I have to say sorry acti will not stream to your mac nor will it to your chrome browser nor will it to your firefox browser. Microsoft monopolizes again! ARGH

    Lux Meters?

Until the prospective customer takes your hard earned lux reading and goes back to the competition and grants them the job because they are cheaper after they selected new cameras based on the proper lux measurements. Sometimes these details really screw you up. Sure it's shows professionalism but I'll usually voice details and not put it in writing where it can be used against me in a head to head battle with a competitor. Been burned one too many times. If they ask I'll be clear and honest about my equipment selections. But maybe that's just me.
  6. Integrator I guess, being a business owner I do it all so that seems appropriate
  7. OK in my case I can now officially chock this off as inexperience with Aver products. I'm not used to setup and video playback and I did not set the de-interlacing properties correctly. Speaking with a very knowledgable Avermedia rep he was able to walk me through this and show me that it was user error. I'm glad it turned out that way because I can easily correct this issue.
  8. Hey ghostrider, have you confirmed that it is a possible firmware issue? Did you upgrade to the latest firmware again in order to validate that issue follows the new firmware and corrects itself again when you downgrade? If so I will downgrade my recent three installs to alleviate this issue. I can't see how Avermedia can't reproduce this if we are all having this issue and all three of mine are having it. It's not the first time I run into this with Aver. I was having issues with an IP camera configuration and motion detection and after trouble shooting with the tech I sent the unit back. They said they could not reproduce it in house so I asked what cameras they were using and they were all analog cameras. I told them that the issue I had was with all IP cameras and I never heard another thing back from it. This issue is very easily reproduced and happens right away on all the systems I purchased. Maybe Aver is not using the latest firmware so they are not seeing the issue. I know Aver reads this forum so please confirm Aver that this issue is a figment of all our imaginations. Please confirm the ideal settings you are using and maybe we all have the wrong settings. I hope it is that easy. My latest install was in a pharmacy and they want to keep an eye the work areas. Kind of stinks when you look at hand motions of the workers they are all blurry until they stand still. Defeats the purpose for this application. I will give it a week or so to see if I can resolve it and if not I will be replacing this Avermedia EH5216 with another manufacturer because I'm not seeing any forward moving work on resolving this issue. My install requires 15FPS and I should be seeing a nice fluid motion recording at this rate. Thanks.
  9. Like the new look. Congrats on the new release and HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I don't see any of the private threads.

    Advice on acti 7411

Fair enough. Give me a few days (Christmas and all...) and I'll try to post some images of the color-shift I'm talking about. You'll be able to see the difference with no prompting. I'm currently on vacation and logged into one of my Avermedia installs. I wish I could save about 5 - 10 seconds of video to post but my IE 8 keeps crashng when try to save video. I have an indoor Acti 3511 and I am currently observing it go from blue to red tint and flipping back and fourth. Can't see to make up it's mind if it should be using the indoor color setting or the outdoor settings. It is not pointed toward a window and the lighting is fairly consistant in the room but it still can't settle on a setting. Very frustrating because all my Acti cameras do the same thing, the 7411's, the 4200 and this 3511 camera. Summary I have he same issues with color shifting.

    snow!

We're getting about 20" dumping right now where I live. But right now I'm in Fresno until the 31st so this will be one of my first snowless Christmas' LOL! Pictures look awesome. I love Pano cameras.
  12. You know I did not try the different settings. Currently it is set on option 1 which is static. To be honest I figured that meant a fixed camera versus a PTZ which is always moving I'm currently away until after the new year but when I get back I'll try option 2 to see if that helps. Do you not experience the same issue?
  13. This is a snapshot of what is common. Anything that moves looks hairy Check out the legs and such. This is from a recent install where they didn't remove the temporary heater from the ceiling yet. Now imagine when the person is walking by.....think there is a chance to pause on the picture NO WAY unless the person happens to stop for a second so it is clear enough. I do have the major ghosting as well but I just rewind and replay and that clears up. The drives I have are 2TB WD's. This is nothing to do with drives. The picture is the same at the DVR and also on the backed up video playing if back from a separate PC all together. I'm afraid this may be my last EH5216 I install unless there is some fix for this. It is obvious and recreatable each and every time you play back you can't deny it's there. I have it set on 720x480 and 15FPS currently. This is a pharmacy and the state mandates 15FPS. Happy Holidays!!!
  14. I just installed my third one of these today. I find the live video to be good but I find the recorded video is full of artifacts. If anything moves it is horrible to review. Anything moving is a blur but the funny thing is I find that on full screen playback it is not as bad. Really strange, they hopefully will have a fix for this because it could use some tweaking. As far as remote viewing yes it is slower than some but faster than others. If it had H.264 streaming it would help or if you could adjust the streaming quality of the video.
  15. The EH5216 is an embedded system. I'll be interested to see if this is happening on mine. I have two installs and they are strictly using MP cameras. I don't recall seeing anything like this during playback except once but it didn't happen consistantly like this. I've seen artifacts before on other DVR's so I didn't think anything of it but what you have is unique. It is very continuous and impossible to deny. Have you contacted Avermedia tech support and sent them the link to review. They have been great a help for me and I have not had any issues with there support at all. An install I'm working on right now will have 12 analog cameras all hooked to this EH5216. I REALLY hope this does not happen because this is not too good. I'll know more next week when I can get a few of the cameras hooked up.
  16. No Lowes arround here. Is it like the Arrow T72 Insulated Fastener Wire Tacker. I've also found the Acme 75A Staple Gun For NM Building Wire (Like 14/2 and 12/2) for cables up to 1/2". "Patented design will not crush or damage cables and wires" "The unique staple driving system of the 75A will not damage or sever building wire and delicate cables." Yes it's like those. Mine is great but I found something I don't like. It is not strong enough. A lot of time I need to carry a hammer just to hammer the rest in the wood I've had better luck with Arrow stuff.
  17. I'm confused. Isn't the EH5216 an embedded system? Just where are you seeing the "trails or ghosts"? You seeing this when you remote into the EH5216 or when you are local? Obviously the video card comment is confusing me so I have to ask. Are the cameras analog or are you using IP cameras (megapixel or standard res)?
  18. You close to a Lowes? I have two staplers, one for security etc. and one for my siamese. The Lowes stapler uses the wide staples with a plastic protector on them. Work great with the siamese but I don't find it works to well with CAT 5 as the cable groove in the stapler is shallow and I was always snagging the cable with a staple so that's why I got the second stapler. I can't recall the name of the stapler right now but it is a red stapler If I remember to check the make and model tomorrow I'll add it into my reply here.
  19. Nice shots. I just installed 14 of these myself recently. They have there issues but overall I'm happy with them. I used the EH5216+ for install so we got almost the same setup going. Overall I'm happy with the install. I have mine set to 4 FPS because I can't get 8 with the 5216 when I have 9 on one DVR. When the lights go down a bit I get a lot of motion blur. If someone walks by they are a big blur which is frustrating. I agree with AK though, bring it down a bit so not to capture the ceiling.
  20. Wondering if anyone has any evening (sun setting) shots and/or shots with street lighting using the ACM-7411 camera. Only demo I seem to find on ACTi's site are under good lighting of course so I would like to see how they work in low lighting like street lamps or lit driveways. Thanks.

    Advice on acti 7411

NOPE! 3.11.13 is still not working with the 5216+ Hybrid Embedded DVR. I set defaults, verified IP's and still no go. I downgraded back to 3.10 and all is fine again.

It's under the firmware tab on the 7411 page, http://www.acti.com/product/detail/Megapixel_IP_Fixed_Dome_Camera/ACM-7411 Thanks hardwired. Will have to remember to look there instead the next time.

    ARM Dome C560VPPRO

Anyone with experience with these? I installed 4 of these recently and was not impressed. I installed two of the WDR versions and two of the non-WDR. I just now went back to find out the effective pixels of this cam and I can't find that in the specs. You know bad me for taking the PRO to heart when I made my purchase LOL! Overall I've had decent experience with ARM although I've had my quality issues with them in the past. Anyone know the effective pixels of this camera. Maybe there is another data sheet someplace I'm not aware of.
