    My van

Got my Ford Transit Connect a few weeks ago. I have just under 3k miles on it already. Biggest complaint I have with it is that there is no power. I live in a hilly area so we have some good size hills around here and this poor van just keeps downshifting. I don't even have much in it and have no ladder rack on the roof. The interstate is 75 mph and this van does not like that speed. That 4 cylinder needs some more power. On the other hand I am getting between 23 and 28mpg depending on driving conditions.

    Exacq Costs

The key is encoded with the Mac address and date stamped. Get ready to grab your ankles
  3. I would say Vivotek doesn't play nice with Avigilon.

    Exacq Costs

Exacq uses the annual upgrade fee is not required on a fully functioning system to keep it running every year. But you must pay the 25 annually if want to continue getting our updates which includes feature enhancements and new camera support. If you decide not go with paying the annual upgrade and you want to add more cameras you must select a camera that is supported on the revision of Exacq you currently have installed after which you could purchase a license to cover the additional camera. This works ok for the first year or so until that really cool camera comes along that you want to add and then you contact exacq to find out that the annual has not not been paid and you would owe 2,3 or 4 years of back upgrade fees in order to add it in. LOL! The way they work the annual can be confusing. I don't fully understand it either and I have hundreds of licenses sold. I have one customer who pays the annual because they only have 8 cameras but my other customers who have up to 40 cameras refuse to pay it. So if I understand it correctly let's do some simple math for someone who wants to add 1 camera currently unsupported to there 4 year old exacq (lol were they even around 4 years ago!). Scenario.....hi Mr or Mrs customer yes you can add this new camera to your existing 8 camera system that does not support the new model. Let's see......8 x $25 = $200 and we need to multiply that for the past 3 unpaid annual fees (first year is free upgrades!) so 3 x $200 = $600 + $150 so your new camera license will just cost you $750. Skip a few restaurants in the next few months and you could easily add that camera in there
  5. And it's not on the list either. http://avigilon.com/downloads/acc4/ACC-Support-Devices-4.10.0.48.pdf I realize that. The post was just to point out that just because a camera states ONVIF compliant it doesn't mean that it will work flawlessly. Vivotek has an ONVIF compliant firmware that you must choose when upgrading the camera. I'm not sure what version of ONVIF it is. I'll take a look on Tuesday.
  6. I have a Vivotek 8332 running with Avigilon and Avigilon don't p,ay nicely with it. Although I see a picture it is really messed up. I get a choppy image, and bad artifacting. Not sure what anyone else's experience has been with Vivotek and Avigilon using ONViF has been.
  7. Woohoo, I'm actually going to go this year. Never been so I'm anxious....hell I've never even been to Vegas for that matter; been through it on a layover and over it flying but never stayed. Would love to meet up and put a face with some you forum names if at all possible.

  9. Need a lot more info than this in order to offer up opinions here. Each is different in there own way. I've installed a lot of NUUO (not Titan specifically) and I stopped by to see the Titan at ISC. I've installed a lot of Exacq as well. What cameras are you using? How does the customer plan on using the system? What kind of cross platform functionality do they need (MAC OS, PC, iPhone, Blackberry, Android etc....). Do they plan a remote client/server or localized client/server? Do you want to have less support questions, installation simplicity, bandwidth conservation, simple customer training then blow your customer away with Avigilon. Did I just say that.........
  10. Excellent show!! Sitting here at the airport, disappointed that I had to take my jacket out since the temps are currently in the 20's back home. Paid $33 per night at the Riviera and it was close enough to walk to everything. The hotel rate at least helps to make up for the crazy airline ticket price PLUS $25 baggage fee.
  11. I'm currently at the state of the industry presentation. I'll be out there after the show. First stop will be Avigilon this morning.
  12. Saw the water show there earlier. Looks like we'll all try to hook up tomorrow sometime at this point.
  13. Where the hell is everyone? Been here since 4pm. Down on the strip and just watched the show in front of Treasure Island.

More for the Installation Hall of Shame

I stopped at a gas station in eastern New Brunswick today and noticed 8 cameras on the store and when I looked up at the canopy I noticed another 8 cameras in enclosures all mounted upside down! Not as bad as Soundy's photos where the upside down enclosure was fully exposed to the elements; at least these are under the canopy. Still wonder if blowing snow, rain and other stuff still get inside those enclosures...

    VMS Suggestions

Where's the love If your cameras are not all on the list with Avigilon check out exacq. They have more cameras supported but the love is pretty much all gone with them now that there is a new brighter shining star in town with Avigilon.
  17. This is an exacq thing not the network. I have an Arecont 2mp bullet at my office that has been connecting and disconnecting all by itself with my exacq server since I installed it. I haven't spent any time trying to fix it because of the reported same issues on the board here. It not a match made I heaven with those two products.
  18. Are u going to ISC ? by the way when are we going for lunch ? Alex Lunch? I'm thinking about the bar!
  19. Why is it as a business owner and installer that I feel like a guinea pig for these big camera companies? I run into so many money losing issues I wonder why I keep doing this at times! Then you call and they say it's you until you spend more time feeding back the info until they say "OH YA!" we'll send you a new one or a new lens or a new this or that. You keep installing them and keep running into the same crap! Got issues with Vivotek with IR Reflection. Just did another install yesterday and the same issues...I got a number of new lenses from them to replace the 10 or so cameras I have with this issue. Where's my free camera or my pay check to fix their crap. Signed the frustrated one!
  20. Has anyone had any luck with running an IQI 863N camera? This is no cheap camera and I'm finding that I can get video from it but it dumbs it down in resolution. They do not list this camera as a supported camera directly but I assumed going from 853 to 863 would have been a no brainer. ONSSI monitors this forum so I'm hoping someone can tell me when this camera will be fully supported. Otherwise I have a very expensive doorstop!
  21. I have the Hardware Requirements Document for Ocularis V2.0 and it appears the clients will run on Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate 32 or 64Bit but the Server and RC-P only mention Windows Server 2003-2008. Can you even buy 2003-2008 server anymore? 3 messages into ONSSI and no call backs. Working with ADI I finally got this document and it's all that it says it supports. Is ONSSI that far behind? Guess I'll have to locate 2008 Server since I need a XEON Quad core with 4GB of RAM! Seems like this is a supercomputer for 16 cameras. Don't ask it's an RFQ I'm working on and all I was told was a computer that will run ONSSI! I've never used ONSSI in my life so I'm forced to figure out what hardware and OS I need for a 7FPS 90 day retention.

Am I expecting too much from my setup?

I see nothing wrong with that video as well. For such a wide shot I wouldn't complain about that. The video skip happens again 12:00:19. Notice the time when this happens, it skips forward a second or two. Not sure, what's causing it but tomcctv could be right. I've seen anomalies like this before and never really bothered to bang my head against the wall over it.

    ONSSI Win 7?

Note that I said "Basic" also. Home server and Small Business Server are not even considered real server platforms. So as I said 2008 is the current version. I don't have a dog in this fight but you were criticizing ONSSI for not supporting any server version newer than 08 when that is in fact the current version. LOL! Whatever! Doesn't change my opinion about ONSII
