    Panasonic WV-CP480

sjmaye... where abouts are you getting the CP480? I am considering getting the same one myself in the future (WV-CP484). I am looking for decent end-user pricing from an online store. Thx.
  3. In a PC Based DVR setup with 2 smaller system drives, and larger ones for storage only... would RAID 0 (or 0+1) be worth it on the system drives only?
  4. Penzat? Is that some new Free To Air receiver... or do you b mean Pansat?
  5. Is this cctv.net for Dealers only?
  6. Good luck finding any online prices or anywhere to order online for that matter. The end-user quote I received on their bottom line DVR (3204) was ridiculously expensive. I could buy a decent used car instead. http://www.marchnetworks.com/partner/certifiedpartner.asp
  7. Wut be free though? BEV is going NAGRA2 and I believe that includes DISH since they are basically the same. DTV there is no hack as far as I b knowing unless you account split. What other 'free' sat is there other than FTA? What sat signals can you get down there? Does BEV go that far? Oh ding, I touhgt the topic be about magic radar or somthin?
  8. Git you new P8 DTV card now! Unlocks all channels, pron even. MJ approved BTW, I pay over $100 CAD a month for BEV programming. No Pansat fo me. I like the NAGRA2 nag screens to get pirates all mad though
  9. Whenever I get to the point of adding cams, there will be some on the exterior of my house where I will prob have no choice to run the coax and pwr cables down/across etc. into a hole drilled into the basement where the DVR will be. What would be the potential results if someone cut the cables and began touching the copper coax with the power cable? I imagine if I went straight down vertically and drilled another hole into the basement, I could perhaps use some sort of strong plastic tube to protect the cables more. Any recommendations?
  10. hey... how boot http://www.magicradar.com/ Their cards are Linux compatible?? Anyone use these cards in the Linux setup?
  11. Magic Radar? Are they another .tw or .kr hardware/software combo DVR card? What is their URL? Thx.
  12. Wut bout wrapping the edge of the housing in that sticky stuff used to catch mice? I made the mistake of touching one by accident and it was hard to get off my finger. Guess one prob though, is that small birds would stick to it also.

    Dual Core Processesors

Not yet. I recently picked up a dual core capable MB from ASUS (P5WD2). Now I want to get a Dual Core CPU, wipe out XP, and install Linux on it instead! Linux is all we use at work, I would never even consider Windows. This is for our web, email, etc. servers. Windoze for the PC Based DVR though. Would just need to find a decent Linux compatible DVR card and software. Someone sent me a link recently, will have to check it out again. I think it was hikvision or something. Let us know about the tests. Thx

    Cmos cameras

100 American dollas a month? That is pretty pathetic. Where be this? My neighbours get at least 10 times that amount on Welfare. I think their goal is to have more and more kids to collect more and not work a day in their life. Beer delivered via Taxi, party all night, no vehicle of their own, geared to income housing, etc. BTW, I picked up a CMOS Lorex camera from the local Canadian Tire long ago and stuck it in our server room. It is total crap but better than nothing. At least I know who goes in and messes things up. Paid around $140 CAD for it. It was not even worth returning to the store because of restocking fees.

    Panasonic WV-CP480

I am not sure if Panasonic lenses are needed or not. I like Pan cams myself and the reputation in general, so I automatically went with one of their lenses. Someone will come along and confirm it though. The only thing I do not like with our 474 (same with the 480 series no doubt) is that I have to keep going outside with my laptop connected via WiFi to the DVR in order to access and change the camera settings (which seem to be very plentiful and not for the average user with Panasonic cams like these). The only other way (and most convenient) is to have Panasonic hardware with PS-DATA capabilities. I believe what is needed is something like a Panasonic Matrix Switcher, Data Multiplexer, or DVR + a controller like the WV-CU360C.

    Panasonic WV-CP480

Not sure, but when you get it hooked up, I would definitely like to see some sample clips if possible while sunny and overcast. We have the WV-CP474, and I believe a WV-LZA61/2 Auto-Iris Vari-focal 3.8-8mm Lens.

    CPU Temps

My BIOS says the CPU temp is around 56c. ASUS Probe says around 45c while idling, and SiS Sandra says around 45c as well. Which one is correct? Or does being in the BIOS normally raise the temp? CPU is a P4 3.4GHz 650 Prescott w/2MB Cache. Yes, I have it overclocked to 4.0GHz, but after I did that, the temps never went up. At least so far. The CPU has not been 'used' yet though as it will be when it be doing its DVR thing. Also, I used OCZ Ultra 5+ Thermal Silver Compound which is supposed to be the same as Arctic Silver 5 apparently.
