When you say different DVR systems... what you mean exactly? BTW, I just ordered some Ballistix RAM from Crucial. They have the fastest order processing and shipping I have ever seen, even on weekends. The last time I ordered Crucial RAM for my laptop, it was the same experience. Even being in Canada, it only took a few days. On the other hand, I have been waiting a week now for my video card, and that is from a store in Ontario. EDIT: I just checked my Crucial order again... and it is now in Mississauga, ON and I just ordered yesterday @ 3:30pm. Amazing. I highly recommend them.

Either I-view or Video Insight whenever I get some more $$$. Geez, might have to sell the Glock I prefer the US based software/support with Video Insight... but their prices are way too high for what I need unfortunately.

With Geovision, can you throttle certain cams FPS down?

Can you save them in Movie Maker or some other format other than AVI? Check out this wmv below. Overall, it looks fairly good. If you watch the punk in the vid after he dumps the ****box and cleanses himself in a pool of dirty water... there is a slight jumping forward motion as he gets up and walks away. That is what I be talkin about. I may be fussy, but sometimes it does it quite frequently and it gets annoying. And since I saw the exact same on the Comart/Video Insight 30fps clip... I am assuming it is just a common issue with DVR cards in general, or a PC/chip limitation. http://216.185.66.21/images/cctv/punk_bike.wmv -

I played your vid on my laptop as that is my only home PC. It is a Dell Latitude D505 w/1GB Crucial RAM. I think I mentioned before though that jeep.Avi is only 15fps and posted a screen cap of it. I need to see some 30fps samples from I-view. It is very warm here right now. However, the server (yes it be dedicated to just a DVR) at our office is in the server room and I try to keep it around 15c - 19c which is hard. I also have a portable AC unit in there (APC Network Air 1000) as backup. I have an indoor/outdoor Radio Shack thermometer as well on the outside of the door. The lowest reading inside was 13.3c and highest was 26c. -

It is the same all around... Live, Playback, or Recording. Even if there is a larger than normal load on the CPU for whatever reason, it is the exact same annoyance all the time. Perhaps I am just being too fussy. I guess I cannot be having my ding dong and be eating it too. -
Just wondering if anyone has any info on the quality of DVR's from March Networks, such as the 3204 below? The local dealer we get all our CCTV stuff from offers these, but would like another opinion. Thx. http://www.marchnetworks.com/products/3204dvr.asp# http://www.marchnetworks.com/flash/products/3204/pdf/3204_DVR_Datasheet_07-04.pdf I am also curious what running an nmap on these Linux embedded devices would reveal open port wise. They use Linux embedded. I much prefer Linux over Windows.

1GB RAM and the card is PCI slot #2. I have a feeling all DVR cards share this 'issue'. I seen a 30fps clip from a Comart XECAP100 recently with the exact same jerky jittery jump ahead motion. And that was at 320x240. I also see the same issue on ours when not even recording. -

I guess I have the Smart Recording option enabled on our GV800-4 even though I do not recall ever doing so. One day, the icons/buttons to change fps and the 'quality' just became non clickable and been that way ever since. However, it still seems like 30fps all the time (recording 24/7)... a jerky jittery 30fps though. And when motion is detected and sends an email alert, the video freezes for a second or two and I get odd looking attachments in my emails. And when I playback, sometimes I miss a critical second or two of video just as that email was sent. -
OMFG, are you trying to excite me or whaaa?

Not the Camera, Focus, Zoom, Iris font. Can those be changed as well?
-
Looks good. Can you change anything in the menus as well such as fonts, typos, etc.? Every time I see Times New Roman font, typos, grammar errs, etc. I wanna vomit.
-
Agreed. I do not make much either but I will bug Visa to extend my credit again before buying a cheaper quality DVR setup. This is how I was able to start building my current computer for a DVR. Now my credit is maxed again

Damn I am going to be needing dongles by the dingling dozen.

Nothing wrong with Americans. It was funny as hell though the first time I heard the all y'all in person though. It was my first trip to another state another than NY. It was a Motocross race in PA I believe, back when Rick Johnson was the bestest. This girl in a restaurant said 'Are all y'all from Canadaaa'? I laughed so hard afterwards I nearly made peepee.

And not to ferget... they use the 'Better Digital Surveillance System' and NOT the 'Best Digital Surveillance System'

We have been using a GEO system for the past year, and it is definitely not the best IMO.
