Damn. Don't you be have to match the S/N with the dongle thing though, or is that just BS and it is a generic dongle for all GEO cards?

Already ordered the 10k Raptor. The pricing I was given was for a pair of them so it seemed expensive. System so far... - Antec SLK3000B Mid Tower Case - ASUS P5WD2 Premium MB (955X chipset) - Intel 3.4GHz 650 2MB S775 CPU - BFG GeForce 6600 GT OC 128MB PCI-E Video Card - 1 x 73GB 10k WD Raptor SATA, 3 x 300GB Seagate SATA - Antec TP2 EPS12V 550W PSU - 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 PC2-5300 - Zalman CNPS7700-Cu CPU cooler Although primarily for CCTV... when not recording I can use it for other things.

Actually, I think I will go with the Seagate NCQ's. Those 10k WD Raptor's are too small and expensive.

Linux is da bestest.

If you were going to run 2 - 4 cameras, each at 640x480+, 20-30fps each, and 24/7 recording, which would you choose? Both would use the same SATA HD's, 1GB+ RAM.

Seems stupid... the distributor/dealer we bought the card from is listed on GeoVision's site. 1 of 2 listed in Canada, which is Sentry Security. http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/7_0.asp

I will check again, but I do not think our CPU is a HT one. 533MHz FSB I believe. The MB is an ASUS P4PE w/845 chipset. The GV card is in the 2nd PCI slot as it was too close to the AGP card. This is an obsolete system IMO, and prob explains why it is slower. It is in one of those Antec 3U rack cases that sounds like a jet engine. I had to take out a few of the fans since I could not hear myself think. It is pretty cool in there though which is a small closet really. We also have an APC Network Air 1000 in there which helps.

I just checked our GV800 system again which is only running 1 cam @ 30fps 640x480... and the CPU (P4 2.4) is at around 60% usage. I do not see how a 3.4 would be overkill... unless socket 775 is that much better? Our GV system uses S478.
-
Well I had to pull our card yesterday and get the S/N to give to our dealer so they can order this damn ding dongle.

ipconfig /all ?

I am getting around the same totals for the P4 3.4 HT I want to build and a basic PE 1800. In that case, which would you prefer? Also, are the PE 1800's very noisy? I see they are very heavy though and deep. Thx.
-
So a P4 3.4 w/1GB RAM will be able to handle 4 cams... each one running @ 30fps 640x480 (or 720x240) 24/7? It's the Dell PE 1800 Tower I was looking at for Dual Xeon. Same one you guys offer.

Actually, it is more like 20 mins later the owner shows up after looking again. Not much reaction on the owner though from what I seen. The cam is a Panasonic Day/Night WV-CP474 with Panasonic WV-LZA61/2 3.8-8 lens in a Pelco EH3512-2MT Housing. The lighting is not the greatest in the area though other than near the sidewalk.
-
Prob. Crack head is lucky though... the owner showed up less than 10 mins later.

Is this possible with server type motherboards that have onboard video... to add a better PCI or perhaps PCI-E card if the slot exists?
