Would SCSI be much faster? -
I believe these are the 3 options available. Someone correct if wrong. 1. Panasonic DVR (1st 4 ports) + System Controller (ie. WV-CU360C) 2. Panasonic Data MUX WJ-MP204C + System Controller (ie. WV-CU360C)... cameras into the MUX, then loop out to the non-Panasonic DVR. 3. Panasonic Video MUX (1st 4 ports) + System Controller (ie. WV-CU360C)... cameras into the MUX, then out to the VCR. I am trying to save up to do #2. I emailed Panasonic tech a while back, and they said I would be able to access the cam setup remotely, and still use any DVR I want. The WJ-MP204C has only 4 ports BTW. I also would love to get a hold of a Panasonic WJ-HD3* DVR. They are a beautiful piece of hardware, but have a gazillion setup options it seems. I remember watching a tech have a heck of a time trying to figure out how to work it.

Sorry, don't have an answer on the Burst option. I never tried it on our 474 at work. I just left it in color mode only, and never went back to the PITA menu stuff on the ladder again, even though I would much like to, so I could change some settings.. That is the reason though that I picked up a couple Panasonic Data WJ-MP204C Multiplexers (just sold one recently actually)... so I won't have to go up the ladder again anytime soon with a small remote monitor (other than cleaning the housing lens perhaps) and fiddle with the many menu options on the 484 and similar Pan cams. Along with the WJ-MP204C (or an actual Panasonic Video MUX or DVR with the PS-DATA control on the 1st 4 ports) and a Panasonic system controller (ie. WV-CU360C)... you can access the cam setup menu remotely which makes life easier. IMO anyway.

The Pelco EH3512-2's with or w/o the MT option (EM1450) are the preferred housing in this area.

No dingling dangling dongle 4u

What would a GEO GV800 4-port be worth roughly used? It includes the dongle as well.

Don't these php forums progs have an auto strtolower function or some similar feature? My eyeballs!

SVHS... is that the same as S-Video? This Pan WV-CM1780 CRT I have has an S-Video in. Perhaps I should just keep it as it may come in useful, was going to sell it. In regards to a 17" LCD monitor, I recommend either ViewSonic or Samsung. I find both very decent. I prefer ViewSonic's though. Acer's seem much cheaper price wise, but I prefer the others. I find DVI much better then VGA also, but that me. Also, need a decent video card to accommodate.

It say BNC in you pic though.

Is the DSP output 1 cam or multiplexed? Analog? 1 x DSP output?

So I guess the best choice is to connect the cams to the CRT CCTV monitor(s), then loop out into the DVR (if the CRT CCTV monitor has a loop out)? That way you get the best possible quality for 'Live Monitoring'. You can then use the LCD via VGA (or perhaps DVI - whatever the video card/LCD has) for 'Setup' only. Does this sound aboot right? Also, I know that LCD's need/should be set to their native resolution to get the best quality. I just picked up a a Viewsonic VX924 19" LCD for the father. It is pretty decent, I just left it at its native res, then increased the font size in IE/Mozilla, and Windoze in general. Seems fine to me, it not used for CCTV use though.

I lied Some anti-piracy thing needed for older GEO cards. It is a short USB thingy similar to a USB key. It is light green in color I believe and says SIC USB or something on it. If I remember correctly, ours was free from the GEO dealer in Kingston, ON.

get pare of sissors and cut cat5 in haf

It is a USB cable that connects and hangs from your USB port with this large object at the end. It is called a dingling dangling dongle.

Not sure, but you would perhaps need to completely re-install the GEO software and choose D:\Program Files\* instead of C:\Program Files\*

Just DO NOT watch any beheading vids especially 'chechclear' if you come across it (hopefully not renamed). That messed up many a nights for me. I can't stand the animal cruelty stuff that ppl video tape. If I could just get a hold of em...

Be careful what vids you watch there if any.
