I am new to this forum and this is my first post, currently I have a security systm install which comprises of 6 cameras connected to a Comart HiCAP board, one of which is a PTZ. This PYZ camera is controlled via the DVR software and a seperate PTZ controller. All has been working perfectly well for about a year, but just recently the PTZ controls have been playing up. This is what happens:
Initially the PTZ controls work perfectly fine, then if the controls are left alone for an extended period of time they no longer work?? (both the controller and the DVR) Then I have to play around with the PTZ controller and camera. i.e: turn then on and off, check cables etc etc and then it comes back and starts working again? Now even though i cycle the power i don't think this is what is fixing the issue and sometimes it does not work immediately. It seems as if it has a mind of it' s own and works when it want to.
It appears that the camera and PTZ motors work fine as everytime i cycle the power on the PTZ comera, it pans, tilts and zooms fine in the self test on startup.
I have tried the following:
* new cable from camera to controller (cat5) - this seemed to initally work but then reverted back.
* Just connecting the DVR as a controller
* Just connecting the PTZ controller
Has anybody seen a problem similar to this??
