this one is for a 2.5 laptop HDD and will not need a power supply but you can buy 3.5 hdd to cf adapters that will have a power supply connection from the dvr just like what a floppy drive has.

Hi. Does anyone know what codec Vineyard Technologies uses for thier DVR's Also can anyone give me some info on this company as I think they no longer exist? On thier website they have a download section but I need a username and password to access it. I have tried to contact them but no reply! Thanks

sorry colin but I am lost! when it comes to this sort of stuff I am a bit green! Are you saying that I can get the pcviewer software to read the cf card in a usb reader? or that it is impossible? I can see the ide drive when I connect that using a usb adapter (ide to usb cable) but it would be much easier to use cf cards as I plan on giving them out to the students to view thier driving lessons at home on thier PC Thanks

I have now managed to get a CF card to work in the dvr. It is a seagate ST1 5GB and works as well as the HDD. Next problem is that when I put the CF card into a usb card reader then connect to pc the software that came with the DVR called PCViewer will not reconise it! If I connect the HDD to a USB adapter PCviewer works fine! Why will the software not work with the CF card? Any thoughts or advice will be great? Thanks

Thanks guys for the advice, I am a driving instructor and I am using the dvr to record the lessons and then want to drag and drop the files on to a pc or sd card so the learners can view them at home.

Yes I will be. The DVR has a removable Hdd caddy and will plug it into there. The Hdd is a 2.5" as the DVR is a Mobile DVR.

thanks for your reply I have tried what you said, The Dvr starts and sees the CF card but then reboots. How do I know if the CF card is an industrial CF card. The one I have has is only 512kb do you think thats why it restarts? Thanks

Hi hope someone can help? I have taken the hdd out of my dvr and connected it with a usb to ide cable. I can get vista to give it a drive letter but it formats the drive. When I put the drive back into the dvr it formats the drive back! The card inside the dvr is Vineyard technologies and comes with PC Viewer software. This is fine but I was wanting to access the files direct and hope to copy them straight to a sd card. As it is too time consuming waiting to capture the streams. Hope someone can help

just anorther quick question. Has anyone been able to connect a sd card to ide adapter to a dvr in replace of the HDD?

Hi hope someone can help? I have a DVR that uses Vinyard Tech system, the software that it came with is PCVIEWER its good but I want to be able to cut and paste the MYS file to my laptop via the usb port. I can do this by capturing the stream but this takes along time and need software that I can just cut and paste or something that will make the DVR connect to a pc so its like an additional storage device and show up as a drive in windows? Anyone know what I need? Sorry but I am new with this so please be gentle? Regards KKell69
