PC Based DVR and UPS/Line Conditioner

My mobo is 100% restart when power is cut/ restored. A ups will work until battery drained, but wont re-boot pc. Meantime camera's are off anyway so no recording, seems like unless you have a generator or spend $$$ on a ups, it pointless......... -

You'd be surprised Quite often tbh, normally off for an hour or so, loads of spikes though, which re-boot the pc, 2/3 times a week. Probably exactly when you need footage that hasn't recorded I had thought of trying a car battery, linked to a 12v mains charger then a dc/ac converter to the pc just for the hell of it. No auto shut down but may last longer thah a ups? -

Its a tricky one. The only way i could see it working is, not to use the software to shut the pc down normally. Hoping it would have enough power in the battery to last until power was restored, maybe then it would work. Trial and error? -

Could be issues with a ups powering back up the system after a shutdown. When a/c is lost the system shuts off , period. With a ups in place it shuts dowm normally, (with the software) to prevent corruption to the system. When a/c is restored the bios has been told to restart on power on, however this wont automatically start it unless its done manually. I have been looking into a ups myself, and really not sure of the benefit anymore -

I don't understand. After our last child was born, she told me we had to cut back on expenses - I had to give up drinking beer. I was not a big drinker, maybe a 12-pack on weekends. Anyway, I gave it up but I noticed the other day when she came home from grocery shopping the receipt included $90 in makeup. I said, "Wait a minute I've given up beer and you haven't given up anything!" She said, "I buy that makeup for you, so I can look pretty for you." I told her, that's what the beer was for!"

I have just downloaded version 7.05 to update my version 7.0. In the extracted folder there are two executables, one Upgrade_7050_release.exe and another Setup.exe Which should I execute to perform the update? Also does the main software need to be shut down, etc. Searched all over for this and nothing. ------------------------------------------------- I have tried both exe and not much happens tbh, anyone please?

NV5000 captures video at different framerates on channels
cam2 replied to oderus1671's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Interesting............ I thought the rule of thumb was to keep a capture card out of the top pci slot? I had issues until i moved mine down. -

I'm not familiar with the Pelco PV140 , but have used 232/485 converters that plug into the com port. The one's i have used , there was no need to hook 12v to them as they are powered through the dome. It would be easier to reply if you gave a little more info as to the dvr type, and perhaps a link to the dome?

Great news. is it installed over the top of existing or start again?
-
Talk of the devil Thanks, appreciate it. Is the oem different from the 7.04 i hve installed already?

Bump up for the Sunday experts

Not much happens because its up as 7.05 on Geo tw, but its actually ver 7.04. Even when the update exe is installed it remains as 7.04. No-one reached the "dizzy" heights of 7.05 yet

To any doubters, i would say demo the icrealtime. The clue is in the name, streaming is "realtime". If web based is what you need this thing is truly amazing.

Scott, everything was setup as it should, thanks for the pdf. Had an email from geo tw and there is indeed a bug in software previous to ver 7.05 that explains my problems to the letter. Going to upgrade to new ver from 7.04 .

Selecting i/o made Zone alarm pop up and warn it was acting as a server on client end. Clicking on allow or deny caused it to close. Had to system restore to get rid. Will try it again without Zone alarm running to test. --------------------------------------------------------- I had put my login details instead of leaving it blank! goes to Rory's now and my login browser is left unchanged.
