yeah, i know what your saying . You could understand the new software compatibility problems on older cards,it will bring a lot of $$ for geo, this would force people to update who wanted to make use of the new software. Surely if the combo cards arn't compatible this would be suicide for Geo! Seemingly its ver 8.0 not 7.1, Scott where are you?
-
I would hope all combo cards would comply, according to polvision.

Many existing cards will not be cabable of upgrading to the V.8/7.1 upgrade. They want to implement a program where we send in our existing cards and have to buck up for a new card and lose the old one forever. If one doesn't have a newer card the highest we will be able to upgrade even with the dongle is to the current version on 7.0.5.0. these are the cards that DO NOT need to be exchanged: GV250 GV600(S) V3.20 --> BNC Card GV600(S) V3.21 --> D-Type Card GV650(S) V3.30 --> BNC Card GV650(S) V3.31 --> D-Type Card GV800(S) V3.30 --> BNC Card GV800(S) V3.31 --> D-Type Card GV800-4A V3.10 GV1120 V1.02 GV1240 V1.02 GV1480 V1.02 Clearer here http://www.polvision.com.pl/files.asp?lang=en&id=68

I just got it all running sweet so give me a few days to get tired of it Looks great what you have done. You probably know already but the 7.1 will have a new skin, and seemingly 7.1 is dropped and 8.0 is the new upgrade!! Wait till G22 finds out

Hey Rory, on the subject of being biased, how about PAL

A format and reinstall of windows only takes an hour at most. Then 30 mins to setup Geo Can you get in the system at all? Start over and you will bet rid of all the c--p on the machine and it will run a lot sweeter. Then you can remember your password for next time

NETWORK VIDEO SERVER-HOW TO
cam2 replied to rnack1's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You could run the camera's into a cheap multiplexor, this would give you video out on a 4/6/8 way split, then feed it into the server and watch them all at once. -
IMHO i would buy from the forum. Its worth the little extra for the support, these guys will help if you havn't bought from them (overseas), god only knows what their support is like if you buy from them. CCTV products need back up, its that simple, they go wrong. If you can get the backup its far cheaper in the long run. My 0.2p

Looking to go from a gv-1000 to a 1480 combo, is it complex to change for the software side? Do you remove the drivers and install the new ones after fitting the new card? Thanks guys.

Anyone used a usb/com port lead with any success? I need an extra com port to connect a gv-io external box.
-
I also tied a twin pci serial port card, installed fine and listed in device manager as com 3 &4, wont communicate with Geovision for some reason, even when i change com port settings in geo setup? I havn't got anything else that connects to serial to test it, plug geo back in to com 1 and it works

Got home tonight and noticed a large pane of toughened glass in a patio door was smashed, you know the way toughened glass crazes. Well i thought time to check the view log on Geo, searched for events and nothing conspicuous. looked a little closer and theres a small clip that shows the glass breaking (on its own) This was registered as an event (motion detection),very sensitive!!! If i could host this , or anyone tell me how to upload the avi for you to see? Freaky or what?
-
G22, theres no footage after or before in minutes. One hour previous a bird flew past, half an hour after, ME checking the damage!

Jasper , i cant see it at all. I thought you were referring to the seat. When i look at the seat i can clearly see a man sitting on the bench, wearing a miners hat, i can see his/her arm and chest,is this what you mean? Its only an image or whatever and not too clear , but its there. Maybe a concidence, i do not know.
-
It a weird one! Its a double glazed unit that broke, but only the outside leaf... Rest of the glass is fine. Outside temperature was around +3degrees c and inside the house was cold as the heating was off all day...... Honestly , no guns involved as someone would have heard it and the rest of the cameras show nothing. Its funny Jasper should mention the "ghost" thing as 3 people have (at different times) noticed the same image of a young man dressed in miners clothes, now i havn't seen it and am the biggest sceptic around, and cant even see anything in the footage to suggest it. Still its more a "piece of mind" thing knowing how it broke rather than guessing for a few weeks, blaming this and that and, well done to the Geo software for picking it up i suppose. Now to give the vcd to the insurance co to see what they make of it

Tanks goes to rory for this, http://www.bahamassecurity.com/geo/Event170113004.avi No guns involved either no access and someone was home and heard nothing. Good advert for Geovision, if they want to send me some royalties

Thanks Tom. I had a (targus) usb port replictor lying around , it has a com port on it. I tried it but it wont communicate with the ptz control, it mentions in the instructions it may not communicate with all devices via the com port through usb, guess i'm unlucky. Thanks for the heads up on the convertor.
-
Tom, i see its value now. it converts the parallel port into an rs232 and vice versa. I think?
-
Tom, expensive Rory, its not for a printer , its to see if i can connect it to a printer (parallel) port to com port , then to ptz convertor.
-
Tanks guys, found em now Just a crazy thought, would a printer port work as a rs232 com port with a converter plug in?
-
Thought one of you might have tried it Cant go wrong for £5. I emailed the seller and he says it gives you a "virtual" com port!WTF. GV hub gives 4 but $$ Is there a pci card that gives a rs232 port ?
