The relay box will allow more input/outputs, also allow for up to 6a at 240v,10a at 125v, where the gv-io will only send a signal to low voltage and cant switch heavy currents,AFAIK

Yeah sal demo The gv/io will control what i need for up to four devices without the relay box. Had a good read of the pdf and its capable of sending n/o n/c or pulse to low voltage door release etc. There is also 4 inputs which will accept alarms etc , these can programme ptz to move to a preset on alarm/detctor activation.

Tanks Rory. Looking at the pdf on the gvio/net card, this will do what i want without a relay box. It has 4 outputs and 4 inputs,am i right in thinking, connect one output to my gates then a wire back to the (com) on the card?

Sal, do you need the gv/io net card or will the gv relay box work?I already have a gv net. Also can it be wired up to electric gates/garage door opener, the type that uses a bell push type connection to momentarily make? sorry if this seems obvious to you, just trying to get my head round it D

Anyone? I would like to close my gates for the new year Anyhoo, happy holidays to all the members, and a prosperous new year to all inc Rory
  7. I spent £££ trying to acheive this until i found, http://www.cableuniverse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=117&products_id=1014 It has vga pss through so you keep the monitor, then you have composite and s-video which output together so you can connect 2 seperate monitors. The cable you have in already will connect via a rca (phono) at one end and whatever you require at the other end. Hope this helps.

Anyone got any links to relays and guides to be able to control equipment via Geo? I would like to be able to control a pair of electric gates that operate on a n/o contact.

  12. Hi, can any camera work by adding ir lights to the setup? I have a mini board cam internally will adding ir lights enable the camera to see?

    ir lights

Thanks, no not trying to use it covertly, just with it being in my home the cameras always look better when they are not on full view. I have it in a garden room which covers the rear exit of the house, to be honest i probably went for the wrong camera for this application! Maybe be better if i fit a motion detector to the light in the room when it is dark?

The laptop does'nt have sp2! It connects straight up,when the main pc tries it gets the error message. I can go online with the pc so it must be communicating with the router,it seems like the main pc is'nt part of the LAN. Its the last hurdle otherwise its great
  17. Hi, just fitted a dvr on a network(rory was a great help), using the client software that was supplied on the main pc ,when it tries to connect it displays a message client exe. has encountered a problem and will now close. I connected a laptop using the same software on the LAN (wirelessly) and it works fine. I thought it may be a service pack 2 issue so i uninstalled it,it worked briefly then crashed again. Any ideas ?

    Cable question

Thanks for the info, i had the ct100 in place so best use whats in if you can! CT 100 is high quaity sattelite cable which performs much better than rg6 for digital signals due to its low loss.Just checking to see if it was ok with camera's.

    Cable question

Hi, could CT100 cable be used for video instead of RG59 for runs of less than 20m?

    S-Video to BNC

How did you convert it COm4? Im after keeping the existing cameras and switcher but adding a quad screen muliplex. Could i make a lead , 4 pin mini din plug to 4 pin socket and between them sourcing the video lead and fitting this to a bnc plug to give an extra video output to the new multiplex?

    Looking for my first DVR

Im looking too for my first dvr, what do you make of this? http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/digital-recorder.htm
  25. cam2

    Is this feasable?

Thanks, so a switcher would keep the resolution switching between say 15 sec intervals (dwell time?) This would show on the monitor (on quad mode) on a quarter of the screen?
