Digital Sprite 2 - auto return to patrol?

I can get into all the menus on the DS2 and the domes, I just don't understand much. We're leary of passwording the DS anyway - passwords have bad luck here, and short lives.

OK - I found the "Home Function" part of the dome setup - both now go back to normal patrol after preset time. Is there a way to password protect this - either through the dome or through the DS2?

"PTZ"? You mean the camera domes themselves? One of these, no idea which one.
  4. Can the DS2 be set to return the camera(s) to their patrol after a set time sitting idle? The boss is unhappy that people are setting them to point at nothing, and then doing whatever it is they do. Also .... can the controls be locked out or passworded so it is known who did what/when? I have the installation manual, but don't see either of these things - unless it is using terms I don't know. FYI - 2 cameras, one does a patrol from position 1 to 2 to 3....... and so on. The other scans from 1 to 2 to 3 to 2 to 1.........

How to set a pan on DM Speed Dome.

SEE? I TOLD ya this place has the answers. Now our camera pans back and forth, nice and slow. Of course, if I just set point 'A' and point 'B' and have it tour between the two the stupid thing takes the shortest path and shows us the WALL. (camera is on corner of building) SO.... I have it travel from A to B to C, back to B, then A............ It pauses for 3 seconds (minimum dwell time) at all three points - but it works out OK as 'B' is a good spot. And the SLOW pan lets the "slow shutter' work about 90% of time. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Nobody knows? Awwwwww..............rats.
  8. I was helped here before to understand or new DVR, so when I had a camera problem I knew where to turn. We have 2 new Dedicated Micros Speed Dome cameras. One simply goes from one preset to the next endlessly unless someone is looking at something. I have that under control. With the other camera, we are used to having it pan back & forth since there are few specific spots to watch, but roads and walkways there. The "AUTOPAN" is too fast, and spends 1/2 the time looking at the wall. I have figured out the "PATTERN" method, recording the movement back/forth, but am unable to get the speed smooth, and it pauses in an irritating manner after the pattern. We are using that for now. The manual says several places that "In the Tour mode, in conjunction with preset and Auto Scan, you can make the camera travel from a preset position to another preset position at a specific speed". Sounds good to me - but that is ALL it says on the subject as far as I can find. Can someone tell me how to program the camera to travel from preset "A" to preset "B" and back again, then do it again and again..... and set the speed? Use small words, point at the correct buttons, rub my nose in it if you like. I'm a true moron at this.

Digital Sprite2 DVD Archive info needed

    Thanks for all the advice.
  10. We recently upgraded from a VCR to a DS2. I have used it's 'COPY' function to burn video to a disk. It plays fine on our WindowsXP machine, but not on our Windows 2000 ones. I know a bit about video encoding, but nothing I have can tell me squat about the video files on the disk. Must be a proprietary system. I have emailed DM, but the only reply so far was to ask what Iwas using to view the video on the XP machine, so I assume there IS another way to do it. 1) What are the system requirements for PC playback? I must haveto install something on our 2K machines, like SWF or something. 2) Is there a way to save the video to CD/DVD in a more standard format? Or transcode the video on the disk itself? We do NOT have the DS2 connected to our local LAN, as all the router plugs are in use. That COULD be changed if it would improve something.
