  1. Dear All, Can I check have anyone done it before, how is it? My main requirement is not wireless camera to DVR, I am running 16 channel DVR outpout video source to LCD monitor which is located at about 150M away, LOS should be consider good. I also have cat5e connected from DVR location to LCD location problems is client consider it to laggy. I also have RG59 cabling from DVR location to LCD location, problem is that is double image on the LCD when on RG59. I try using video amplifier to boost the signal, I try using balun but still cannot improve the double image problem. Now I am betting on wireless transmittion. Any one can propose a better solution? Thanks in advance Kelvin
  2. Dear Soundy. Thanks again, now my picky customer complains that there is running horizontal line running up the LCD montiors(Both). I read through the web, they are saying ground loop problem? Can I solve it by adding ground loop isolator? regards KK
  3. Dear All, This is 2 different picture that I took for references
  4. Hi, I took Some pictures already but not sure how to upload it. Anyway, change to balun through cat 5e and through converter, though the double image is still there it is no longer as visible unless you really strain your eye to see. Anyway thanks for all the help, I am still no so sure if client can accept, will wait for news. But for those still interested to see how the picture look like, let me know how to post it, as I can t tell where the problem is, I am still not satisfied.
  5. Dear Tom, What are those thing call? How do I test them with it? Can I buy from you if I need to? Regards Kelvin
  6. Dear All, Interesting just out of curiousity, if all the six cable are damage ( I run the cables) if it is really damage, who is going to bear the extra cost of re-running the cable, cutting the pave road etc etc KK
  7. Will try in on Friday, thank for all the input KK
  8. Dear All, How I wished it is that simple, I have 6 RG59 cables that run from location A in a building that run underground in a conduit to location B about 150M. I test all the 6 cables, all without result (all double image). What I did was physically run a new cable fly over the building , run across the road into location B. I did this to verify if it is due to cable lenght, but when I did this test, it is ok, not double image. So I rule out cable length problem , I rule out monitor, I rule out VGA converter. As per second suggestion to use the cat5e with Balun. I have 2 DVRs at location A and 2 monitor at Location B, is it possble to use a single cat5e to out 2 seperate monitors. PLease let me know, as I am about to kill someone already KK
  9. Dear Soundy, I check and confirm that they are on PAL, I am in Asia, that is why I am using a PAL system. I think I also ever try using a LCD TV with BNC to RCA connectors to connect it, but I think the double image still persist. I read through the net again and again. Most of the theory only point to 75 ohms termination. I am not sure what to do next, so hope that wireless may do the job. One thing to mention though, if I am using a short cable with the same montior, it does not have this problem REgards KKK
  10. Dear All, Thanks for the help. OK let me go into details 1) I am using Kodicom DVR 16 ch (2 sets of DVR) at location A. The monitors (2 sets) are located at the guardhouse(Location B) which is about 150M away from location A. We are lucky to run 6 coxial cable plus 1 cat 5e cable from Location A to Location B. 2)The connection is DVR video output (BNC to BNC) to (BNC to VGA) to the monitor 3) When I connected DVR 1 to MOnitor 1 and DVR 2 to Monitor 2 through the coxial cables, both the monitors have double image (side by side). 4) I try using balun to boost up the signal (that fails) , I went to a local dealer to add a video amplifier but that failed also. So, they recommend me another model that will cost about 1.5K that guarantee me result (this I have not try yet) 5)Another method I did was running a network switch connected from the 2 DVR and join to the Guardhouse forming a local LAN network without internet access. I run 2 PC at the guardhse to run the DVR Central management Software. But customer (fussy) insisted that it is too laggy. 6) So desperate that I disconnected all the 32 cameras and connect only 1 panasonic dome camera to see if the image is ok Still the double image is there I am on my wits end, I try using a VCD player to connect to the montior with the same RG59 cables, that image run ok. I run the same cable on the flooring to the guardhouse and test the cable lenght, no problem. MY problems cannot be solve, my header is bigger by the day I suspected 1) Grounding ??? maybe as the VCD is a 2 pin w/o ground 2) Monitor Setting: is there anything for me to set on the montior 3) The 4 extra cable is creating problem ???? Help I am lost, client refuse to pay until problem is resolve KKK
  11. Dear All, I am using BNC output from DVR to a converter BNC/VGA to LCD monitor. If I am using cat 5e cable through local Lan, there is a 2 second lapsed in term of real time, My client cannot accept a 2 second lapsed from real time . I am having 2 side by side image for all the 16 cameras for DVR 1 and 2 side by side image for DVR 2 (total of 36 cameras) viewing through 2 LCD monitor. If you mean incorrect setting of monitor, how do I adjusted it ? there is no adjustment at all on the montior except for contrast brightness etc which have no effect on the double image. Things that I have tried before which include 1) instead of a DVR, I replaced a VCD player using the coxial cable, no problem with image. 2) Running 200 Meter cable from DVR to LCD monitor, no problem But I do have six coxial cable running from DVR location to LCD location of which 2 is use for DVR to LCD monitor, the other 4 cable is not use Any help is deeply appreaciated Kelvin
  12. Dear All, I need help on this. I just installed 2 * 16 channel Kodicom DVR (embedded KSR series) total of 32 cameras (Panasonic dome camera). We did a spot out from Location A where the DVRs are located, running about 180M of Belden RG59 cable (solid strand) to Location B (there is 6 extra cable spare RG59 cable from location A to Location B) At location B, we connect the BNC to 2 LCD monitor. The image appear but show double image on both the LCD montiors. I try a number of solutions but no avail 1) change to LCD TV 2) Adding of 2 video amplifier and the EOL of the cable 3) Changing different RG59 cable 4) parallel 2 RG59 per signal cable to increase the cable strand 5) Using the same camera and same DVR, I brought a a roll of RG59 cable of 200M and connect to the DVR and camera, it work no problem 6) moving the 2 LCD apart Nothing seem to works. I am at my wits end on how to solve this problem. Can anyone here offer any advice on this problem. Alternatively can anyone teach me how to test the RG59 cable I do have a mulitmeter, what else do I need to purchase to test the cable strength, ohms value(how to test) etc I read up on this on the internet, it just tell me double image is usally termination problem, but it does not tell me how to solve the problem. Please help? Thanks in advance Kelvin
  13. Dear All, My problem is still not solve yet, today we went down and installed DVD player using the same cable and same LCD monitor The picture came out perfect without any problem, I would presume that the cables are working fine and is able to support the 200 M length. Now what is the probable problem? Grounding ? The only suspicion I have is that the DVD is a 2 pin plug without ground while my DVR is a 3 pin plug with gnd. Could that be the problem? My 32 cameras is installed all over the place, each is powered by a different 230V power 3 pin plug running at 24 Vac (tube camera)or 12 DC (dome camera). Any advise again
  14. Dear All, Any one can give a step by step to test if the cable is ok (using a mulitmeter)? Thanks in advance KT
  15. Dear Tweake, Actually, all the 2 * 16 camera on the 2 LCD screen are having double image. I try to get a pictures for that and upload there. How do I exactly test the cables? Pretty Noob here Regards KT
  16. HI, Thanks for the reply, here is some of the things I try 1) I run the same 200 M of coxial cable at location A and plug it directly from the DVR to the LCD montior, as it work ( I presumed that the cable length is no longer the issue, or am i wrong?) 2) Location A is a server room where the DVR is housed, where location B is Management office with the viewing is done, so both place have power source in the location. The cameras run inside the whote building. 3) I did not use any splitter as Location A have 2 * 16 ch DVR each running thier own RG59 cables to location B connected to 2 different LCD monitors (eg DVR A to LCD A and DVR B to LCD B) Any more suggestion is appreciated Regards KT
  17. Dear All, I have some questions that I dont understand , hope someone can help on this: 1)Firstly, for remote viewing, port forwarding must be done on the router 2)Secondly, for remote viewing, there must be a dynamic DNS to be use like dyndns as an example My questions is like this If I am using AVTech DVR, I dont face much problem with any brands of routers as they accept dyndns for DDNS,but when I am using Kodicom for example, then the problems will appear. As Kodicom is using third party DDNS in the DVR itself example like dnsdvr or webdvr which the DDNS is create in the DVR.(Kodicom dont allow to use dyndns account) If I am using Kodicom with Linksys router (WAG200G) , no problem work fine perfectly, I only have to set the port forwarding in the router, no DDNS account is need to be create. Can anyone explain why is this so? Whereas when I used Thomson ST585, I can open the ports in game application, applied setting to device but I cannot set the DDNS, or should I have to set the DDNS account (since I dont have to do so in linksys). Even if I try to set a DDNS account, they keep prompting me either update error , Anyone can help on this as I have at least 5 installation which is bugging me and the only solution is to change all to linksys router(which my client are not willing to pay) Thanks in advance Kel
  18. Dear All, I need help to set up the remote viewing for a fixed lan IP I am given 2 static wan IP Assuming 22.222.222.86 (ISP) and 22.222.222.85 (client) The AVT tech model only have 3 configuration like this 1) Local IP 2) Gateway 3) Subnet 4) DNS1 5) DNS2 6) Port: Client is using ST585 V6 modem, I have already open up the port 80 but it just doesnt work I can ping to the local network, it work, telnet the port at local IP it works But it just cant port out the port 80 I set it like this 1) 192.168.1.065 (Device IP) 2) 192.168.1.254 (router gateway) 3) 255.255.255.0 (subnet) 4) XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX (local ISP DNS) 5) XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX (local secondary ISP DNS) 6) Port 8000 I open the portforwarding at the router, but it still cannot be view Any things I miss out or is that any other ways of configuration ? ktak888
  19. Hi Scorpion, There is no DMZ for me to set, mine is Singnet in SIngapore. I have not change the gateway yet. Will try it late at client side Router version is advised by ISP not to update as they will work only with the current version for PPPOA and some other stuff I always connect on wire, never trust wireless stuff. http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Thomson-Alcatel/SpeedTouch585/MythTV.htm Funny thing about the router is that there is some configuration that are not changeable in the router configuation unless you run the software wizard. THing like PPPOE / PPPOA or VCI etc etc cannot be changed unless run with CD. I am 80 % sure it got something to do with the router. Monday is coming , I have less than 24 hours to sort it out Help if anyone know a solution ktak
  20. Dear Sir, I will get .. microsoft cannot display the page. I think the port is not forwarding at all or either something is blocking the access, which stump me as I did all I should. THanks again for your help Ktak
  21. I think you understand what i mean and yes you are right, I cannot access even if I put it the WAN IP or WAN IP:8000 , when I am outside the store to access. But when I am on LAN, key in the WANIP bring me to the router configuartion page Any ideas ktak
  22. The problem I have is remote viewing After the configuration is done, (I have done remote viewing for many site with no problem). My setting is like this, I am running on only 1 DVR with 1 router ST585V6 1) Lan IP : 192.168.1.65 2) Gateway : 192.168.1.254 3) Subnet : As per router 4) DNS1: Local ISP setting 5) DNS2: local ISP setting MY router is using ST585 V6 setting on a static WAN IP (which means no DDNS is required) Router firewall is off, just dont understand why it dont work. Anyone can help on this Ktak
  23. I think I should ask a simpler question as in Is there any difference in configuration in dynamic IP or Fixed IP ? I did both port forwarding for 8000 and 80 THanks Ktak
  24. Dear All, I have to refer here for help, I have installed a kodicom KSR-304T at a client place, everything is fine except that remote viewing is intermittent. Intermittent means that when the CMS software is on it will failed to connect to the DVR after maybe (4-5 hours) but once I try to connect it, it will reconnect back but it will failed to login again after maybe 4-5 hours later. I have change also everything in the shop, this include the DVR (change twice), the Modem (Linksys WAG-200) also change twice, telephone line, also change, ADSL filter also changed twice Call the ISP down, they claim that the line is very stable, nothing wrong with it. I cannot narrow down any problem other than that the telpehone line they are using are shared with the POS(use only at night), NETS, VISA and FAX(Brother) & Telephone (Phone is together with fax) Any other solution anyone can offer?
