Figure I'd ask Mr. Bahama

Wow, 8dr, I can do that ...I did, he don't know.

What he wants doesn't exist right now. I was offering a solution so that when he leaves rory's favorite dvr viewing software running, he can simply log into his computer, via the network/internet, that the DVR is also attached, to shut down the DVR viewing software (on his computer) so he can log in when he is away.

...or just ask rory -
All the same out here. LPC has a lock in. Who ya know/pay?

He can drop the slave in the computer and control it from anywhere in the world...ie, shut down the software.

rory just posted a ton of these somewhere.

There was a big scandal over at Stern's web site a couple of months ago (long story). I just have been too lazy to change it. -

Not to chase you away, but Linksys has an excellent tutorial on their website...even in the router itself (when you log in) will tell you how to do it. -
A fellow technician, swears by the 10 dollar 4 channel cards. Minimalistic (?) is how I would describe him.

Best way around this for now, is TWD. Real small footprint and one of the best ones out there. http://www.twd-industries.com/

rory is searching high and low for this one? I have seen DVR's with DVDR's, but why? How much footage do you need? -
Looking for card/software.

I love good, honest, fair competition...it brings prices down for the little guy. -
Nothing wrong with OEM, as long as you know who makes it. I like paying $102 bucks for OEM software. Who needs support from Micro$hit anyway. You might just as well talk to a door handle than talk to Micro$hit

Home Depot here on Long Island and NY are done by a company called LPC and I will get that info for you tomorrow. My bud is the Foreman on them. I will get the WAlmart info for ya too.

I need 8 0r 9 channel. Then I say to myself, for 200 more and I can get 16-but, I will never use 16 cams at my house.

I have one of the other techs in the office who swears on the 10 dollar cards pico 2000. Gotta go with what you like. Personally, I like standalone DVR's with the software on chip (in DVR).

They seem to have rewritten the software. I just need the view feature, but I hate that software has to be installed. Sometimes (and I won't, if I can) I can't install on a client's workstaion but I can access IE.

Thanks bud. See if the Sampo software works on the same unit as the HiSharp. I found a version (Eclipse) that didn't lock up.
