Pretty good idea tho, seeing who is at the bar before you head on down there.

There are legit Geo Dealers on ebay.
-
You have to change the port from incoming port 80, to another port that is not being used. Your ISP most likely blocked incoming port 80, whereas, on your network you have that port available.

rory posted a whole bunch of web sites on this

I thought we were having a disscussion and not an argument . I thought for a minute there I was talking to another "whop". I can find out what is paid for what as far as a dealer/distributor is concerned - I see the pricing everyday and alot of companies discussed here, we are within 2 miles of our office and I am on the phone with them alot. I just thought the end user should be aware if he/she is being taking for a ride - paying $3000 for a unit you can get for $2000. I certainly would't devulge what my boss gets for an install to anyone. The matter will be dropped. Thank you for bending a little

You have to be careful, some are selling so-called "Geo Chipset". Call Geo up and "we are sorry sir". Not a bad thing, just make sure you don't pay Geo price.
-
Sorry Dad.

hiccup Drink me another pour?

I am not "frustrated". I never thought or incinuated this, "dirty deals". Again I say, Why can't common folk discuss pricing. You DEALERS and DISTRIBUTORS have your own LOCKED THREAD where YOU discuss pricing...to see if you are getting ripped off-find better pricing. Apparently, the rest of us are allowed to get ripped off by dealers/distributors. I thought this was a forum of PUBLIC viewing where pros and non-pros can discuss CCTV-which includes one of the most important factors, PRICE! Not just the PRICE of DVR's, the pricing of jobs, cameras, installer pricing? So where does us mere mortals fit in, that we can not discuss pricing? It is one (if not THE ONE) of the most primary considerations of a system? No logic.

RG59 from Home Depot good enough?

I agree...I have even seen the pin and the shield held together with a wire nut. -

When I encounter certain vid probs, when I do service, is look at the connections and it is usually the twisties. I use crimp ons with a Harris Crimper and I can crimp just as fast (if not faster) then a twistie. And you can swing from the connection. -

Most jobs we do (6 figures $100,000 plus), do not include twistons or Siamese Cable. -
Poppy****. I have done this hundreds of times without issue.

I agree with you scottj, but sometimes the job spec (Siamese Cable) calls for it. But then again, we do jobs in the six figures, what do we know? -
Anyone have any experience with an INTELLEX DVMS DV16000? Tell me anything about it. http://www.americandynamics.net/products/intellex_DVMS.aspx
-
MetzLyov Thanks for your opinion/experience.
-
All due respect. Not true, otherwise there wouldn't be a "good ole boys" locked thread.
-
That is because it is a matter of opinion. I am 100% positive Geo says the same about I-view.
-
Isn't there a locked thread here for that, since they must make a living? ...and bryan1656, I find that hard to believe, a company wasting time like sueing for that.
-
I also must add, I can buy directly through a distributor, such as ADI and whatnot.
-
It does not matter what we do in life, there will always be bad apples. I have gotten ripped off by an Italian (which I am) so all Italians are thieves? Asking a Dealer for advice on price shouldn't be a crime. Be nice to know if I am going to pay $3000 for a DVR and there is someone here that can advise me that it sells for $2000 is not a bad thing.

I am more worried about my 2 dogs more then my girlfriend...she can take care of herself.
-
It's for my house and I can get a 4 month old unit for $$$$ US. I edited it myself. CHEAP.

When the DVR's (not PC Junk-High End Standalones) are the only items on THAT network a 50 dollar linksys will do. Try it.
