  1. I understand about viewing angle. Is there a preference to mounting a dome camera by the front door?Either to one side or directly above? Or it really doesn't matter since you can adjust the camera angle?
  2. Have any of you guys ordered supplies from CableGiant dot com?
  3. I use Surefire for my flashlights..... Not cheap but the best. http://www.surefire.com/E1B-Backup Yes! A lot of co-workers make fun of me for spending $100 plus on a flashlight (have 3) but if you use something 30 plus times a day, every day it's hard for me to put a price on it. They work every time and I'll put my life on it (actually have many times). Also, I picked up this beauty from Lowes with a 20% off coupon (from USPS relocation envelope). http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=109739-353-PS40-2A I LOVE this thing. It's extremely small yet powerful, fast, has lights, and will drive any screw into almost anything. Perfect for CCTV and hours of our inevitable ladder work. I had 4 but I lost 2 Surefire flashlights are the best tool period. Especially when they're free.
  4. I was looking at this set here.Ridgid is a name and brand i've learned to trust http://www.homedepot.com/Tools-Hardware-Power-Tools-Combo-Kits/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xr5Zar5v/R-100646503/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053
  5. I figured i would need to invest in a good cordless tool kit that has a drill/hammer drill, circular saw, sawzall and light.
  6. Anyone use Platinum Tools?
  7. If your viewing your cams at night that have built in ir lights on,what happens to the picture quality if your motion lights come on in that area?Does the camera adjust immediately so that you don't lose picture quality? Is this where the IR Cut Filter plays a very important part? I ask because all of my motion lights are dual halogen that really light up the area they are covering.
  8. That's crazy Rory, but i guess you gotta work with what they're willing to pay.
  9. Nope, too much trouble. To start you take the palm of your hand and thrust the lower row upwards while pulling on the the bottom edge of the upper row. Once started you can unzip a 40' run in less than 10-minutes. Got it.Thanks Tail for all the help and guidance. These soldiers here are beating me up on cameras to watch their houses.I did one for a friend and word spread like wildfire. His house had a nice big empty attic and soffits.Made the install a breeze.
  10. By plastic you mean wiremold?
  11. Ahhhhh got it!! Do you use one of those neat little siding removal tools to pop the bottom of the siding out?
  12. When you say drill a hole and run horizontal, are you meaning drill a hole thru the plywood and run the wires left or right? What about the framing in the wall?Is there an empty space between the plywood that the siding is screwed to and the inner area?
  13. I need to see how it's done from start to finish.
  14. Cool! Unzip the siding where you want to come through from the inside. Drill hole and run horizontal till you hit the corner post.channel and go vertical. All wire is tucked and invisible. Vinyl siding is insanely easy while aluminium takes a bit more care as to not damage the locking bead. Man i need to see this in person .
  15. So how do you run a four camera cctv with a camera on each corner of the house on a two story house with the cameras on the first level with no soffit, attic or basement?
  16. Ademco made things real easy with the Vista platform.I really like the confirm by activation feature. When you're adding a wireless sensor, you select zone number, type, name, cause it to trip and it enrolls itself.
  17. That is so true Tailbone.I struggled understanding about running wires on a home that had no attic,no soffit and no basement.I'm just starting to learn some of you pros secrets.I wish there where more how-to videos, but i guess i can donate my free time to learning from a pro.
  18. I like my parents house because i have full access in the attic to install 2x4 backing without removing the soffit.
  19. Oh okay.Mike@Shoreview has a couple coming in for trials.I won't get mine till i'm sitting overseas.
  20. What about placing a outdoor power supply at each camera?
  21. Specifically the AVC2-2-420DN and the AVC2-2-MDNT? These are the two cams that i feel i will need to use the most.
