  1. Mounting to the fascia looks solid. My soffit is about 8' high.I just wasn't sure if i wanted to do that compared to the cheaper method of mounting it to the soffit paneling.Cheaper to replace the paneling than the fascia in the event something ever happens.
  2. It may come down to whether you want concealed wiring or a good picture. I understand what you mean!
  3. I wanted a day/night camera with concealed cable.I'm just looking at what my local cctv dealer has.I'm trying to keep everything local that way if there are any problems, they can be handled easily.
  4. I need general view of my property from different locations around the house.Driveway, front yard, back yard and side yard.Camera needs to see 50' max.I have a 200.00 max price on cameras with varifocal lenses.Give me a good suggestion within my price range.Has to see day/night with outdoor motion and stationary lighting.

  6. If you can pm me your build i'll be more than happy. That's what i mean,i need help building it.
  7. Is an ir cut filter that important? Can you have a good day and night picture without it? If an ir cut filter is so important, than why do many cctv installers sell cameras to consumers without them? What is the cost difference for the same camera with a filter?I'm a residential consumer purchasing my eight camera setup, and none of my day/night bullet varifocal lense cameras with ir have an ir cut filter. My home gets plenty of sun during the day.At night i have several outdoor lights, motion and constant on for nightime.Does that mean my day/night views will be horrible?
  8. I've priced new parts.I can get these two items for 370.00 OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM - Retail Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0GHz LGA 775 95W Quad-Core - Retail I can get a 1TB hard drive for 100.00.A motherboard for 100-150.00. Add in a new video and dvr card and i'm golden.Where can i get a new pc based dvr for 700.00-800.00?
  9. I'm just a home consumer.RayLed is just outta my budget..I'll just use my quartz halogen floodlights and call it good.
  10. When using an IR Illuminator do you mount it high aiming down or low aimed up a little?
  11. The house has vinyl siding with open soffits with the vinyl panels laid inside,so i planned on mounting the bullet cameras under the soffit.I've read to just put a piece of wood inside the soffit to screw the camera to and call it good.I can mount the camera either under the soffit or out on to the soffit board.I will just need to dill a hole with a hole saw.I'm not sure if my parents will want me to drill a hole thru the board instead of the cheap vinyl paneling under the soffit. Is there a personal preference that you installers have or is it once again dependant on many factors?
  12. That USAG AVC2 looks like a solid camera. You are right Scorpion.A lot of the vandal domes i see have those set screws around the base.
  13. I thought bullet and box cameras offer a better view/picture than dome cameras.
  14. So Rory, you mainly stick with bullet cams?
  15. I was wondering if anyone has taken the CCTV Training and Testing thru the National Alarm Association of America?I don't have any local courses to take since i don't pay for it,so i wanna use the finances i have available toward something i really want to do..

  23. Well i took a look at the Extreme.I think i need the EX12LED8W which gives me a 60 degree wide beam pattern that i can adjust from 10-40ft using 850nm or 940nm led's.I only need one so might as well make it a good one that i know will last.
  24. Yes you are correct, but i know that you"pros" have your little secrets that i'm trying to learn..This is a new hobby for me extending from electrician/home security.
